Goodbye and Hello

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,

For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet

For auld lang syne.

This is goodbye to this past year, 2008. Remembering many of our furiends to have gone before us to The Bridge. We will miss you, but we won't forget you.

Hello 2009. None of us knows for sure what the new year will bring, we wish for health and happyness for all. Good homes, full bowls of foods.

Mum says we are not staying up to see in the new year, it will get here if we are awake or not. She has been busy at work so is happy for the extra rest on the long holliday weekend. She say lots of good foods, feetsball and rosey parades.
Happy New Year Everyone

ManCat Monday

If there is one spot of sun spilling onto the floor, a cat will find it and soak it up. - Joan Asper McIntosh

Saturday it got all warm, melty and rainy. That made our snow piles shrink, mum is happy about that. All of the rain stayed outside the house where it belonged.
But Sunday did bring us sun, a picture looking out the back.
I also was sitting in the window for a while while mum cleared the little bit of snow we got overnight. Get rid of the ice at the end of the drive.
Me getting the sun laying on the couch on Sunday getting ready to watch feetsball with mum. Last day of the regular season.
Feetsball Report

The Pack - won, and thankfully did not lose to the 0 and 16 Lions. It would have been horribly embarrassing if the Pack had lost.

The Colts - won and are off to the play offs.

Brett the Jet - Lost and maybe, just maybe his last game. Stay tuned to the off season soap opera ' As the Farve Turns'.

Mums says it is another holliday week and she will be home more like she was this past week. Oh good, that means extra snuggle time, probably another can of stinky goodness to cellybrate. That is nice, we can say goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009.

Plus I need to say 'until we meet again' to Icon Baxter Bently.

Finally Friday

Hope all of my furiends had a lovely Christmas or other hollyday that they cellybrate.

We had a quiet Christmas, mum came home early on Christmas Eve and spent lots of time outside clearing the snow from the driveway and raking the roof. Raking the roof means wading through the at least knee deep snow, more if there is snow piled up, like about hip deep. By the time she was done she was furry cold and wet. So a hot shower to warm her up and then she let me chat with the gang on Chatzy.

Christmas Day mum and Grampie went to church and then came over here for lunch and all. We exchanged prezzies, mum got a couple of DVD's. I got a few toys, Grampie got a cane! Not that he needs one at this time, but just in case he needs one.

I got a full can of stinky goodness for lunch, which meant I left mum and Grampie alone while they had their lunch. They had ham and I know there is some left for me to have at a later time.

Here is how mum spends her time once she can sit down at home. TV on, feets up, her nice kittie blankie on her legs to keep warm. If the TV isn't on, she is reading a book.
The she has a favorite beverage by her side. Hmmmm, I see four thinks to drink from here! A big glass, a wine glass, a can of soda and an icey mix of yummy Irish Creme. Mum was trying to keep me away from her drink here.
But I got at the drink anyway. I jumped up on the couch, went behind her head and then down on the arm of the sofa between her and her drink. hehehe Then I started to lap up that good creamy stuff, not bad, a little kick to it. I didn't get too many licks but they were good. That gave me my red nose on Christmas Eve. Mum only buys this stuff at Christmas time.

It is supposed to warm up today and tomorrow and do some melting. That is why mum had to get the roof raked, so the water goes down the right spots from the roof and not into the house with us! Otherwise we are going to spend our day, napping and reading.

Merry White Christmas

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, (because he was of the house and lineage of David,) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2: 1-20 (KJV)

A Red Nosed Derby

Derby, the red-nosed reincat
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.

All of the other reincats used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Derby

join in any reincat games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say:

Derby with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reincats loved him
as they shouted out with glee, Derby the red-nosed reincat,
you'll go down in history!

ManCat Monday

The trouble with cats is that they've got no tact. - P.G. Wodehouse

True I have no tact, I let mum know what I want and she better deliver. My Secret Paw Package arrive on Saturday, and the station guy was furry slow getting to our house that night with the packages. Plus with the snow we didn't get anything delivered on Friday.

So open for me now mum! Now, right away! I smell nip! It is from Tybalt, Holly and Ivy! Thanks guys!
I jumped up on the table to check it out, which of those packages have nip? Two of them.
Pounce treats, my favorites. I may be the only kittie who prefers them. I yak up if mum gives me Temp-tay-shuns, strange but true.
A whole package of nip plus a special package with fuzzy things that were pre-nipped.Oh yeah, open it up mum, please get them out so I can play with them!
I was faster than the flashy box, I picked up the fuzzy ball and took off with it, leaving a few small pieces of nip behind. I came back for the nip later.

We got more snow on Saturday night and when mum got up, finally, on Sunday AM her little temperature thingy said NEGATIVE 10.8 degrees Fahrenheit. For you metric kitties that is NEGATIVE 24 Celsius. It was cold even sitting by the windows watch the fevvers outside. Mum did go out, first to clear the snow off the drive and claim the Sunday paper. They just dump the paper at the end of the drive. Plus mum went out to refill the seed in the birdie feeders as they cleaned us out on Saturday.

I am waiting to see when my Secret Paw pal gets their box. Mum sent it 10 days ago, it should have been their by now. I hope the station guys didn't lose it!

Feetsball Report

The Colts - Won

Brett the Jet - Lost

The Pack - play Monday night against Da Bears!

Mum started reading the book about Dewey the library cat. She was getting all leaky eyed in places especially at the start. After a few hours she has read about half the book.

Lemonade Award

Eric and Flynn were so kind to give me this award.
The Lemonade Award is given to sites which the giver show either great attitude and or gratitude.
The rules for these awards are:

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Nominate 10 other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

Goodness, 10 more blogs! I had to think on this on who I should pass this along to, you have to have either/or attitude or gratitude. I know I have attitude so I am picking other kitties who show an attitude too, either good or bad!

Max, The Pychokitty
Luxor
BeauBeau and Angie
Darling Millie
Sophia, Diva Kittie

Moki
Adan
The Cat Realm
Parker
The Adventures of Zevo Calamari & Boo

The kittie mat that mum bought last week with the character writing. This is what Adan and his bean michico said about it."I think that is very beautiful, I check the Chinese words on it. It should be the artist's pseudonym. And the red one is the artist's signet. Because Chinese's artiest who does the traditional Chinese painting always like gived themselves a long pseudonym, means they are very classic~!!! And it does a very beautiful works~!!!! "

So now we know, it is just the artists name and his signet or sign. Furry cool! You can biggify the picture to get a better look.

I lucked out yesterday, mum didn't go into work because we had lots of white stuff . She sort of worked on her work 'puter, but probably spent the most time messing about with the snow.
Looking across the street when she finished clearing the drive for the second time. She ended up doing it three times since the plow hadn't been by yet, but some neighbors helped her with that with their big snow eating machines. She was very thankful for the help, she doesn't even want to guess how many tons of snow she moved around yesterday!
Looking back at the house, all cleaned even with the roof raked already!
Looking out the back, big snow pile from the roof and the patio. Mum had to wade through the snow to get the birdie feeders all filled up. They were completely empty the little fevvers were furry hungary.
This appeared out of the dungeon last night too. No lights or anything else yet. Plus mum wanted to work on making more peanut brittle yesterday, but with all of the snow clearing she didn't do any so must work on that today. She needs more to take in for work this week. I will nap and maybe the decorations for the tree with show up so I can whap them around.

Mum went out this morning to the food store for the weekly shopping, roads are not bad, the store was crazy even early when it is usually not crazy.

Affection Friday

If your cat is in the habit of rolling over and exposing their stomach, you can be sure they feel perfectly safe with you. Perhaps there is no more convincing sign of feline affection.
Oh yeah I love tummy rubs! When mum comes home I rub up against her and then plop down and show her my belly. I gets lots and lots of rub on my tummy.

It is going to be a snowy Friday here. Mum already knows she won't have to drive into work and can work from home. But it is going to be lots and lots of snow to move from the drive, she is not looking forward to this. We had way too much snow last winter and this one is getting off to a bad start. Mum hopes that like a few years ago there was lots of snow in December and then nothing for the rest of the winter. Time will tell.

Glad you like my whapping of the snow people. Mum only puts out the ones that won't break if they fall on the floor. None of them are heavy, so they are easy to whap off the shelves. Mum says some extra holliday toys for me to play with.

Continuing purrs for my buds Miles, Beau, Moki and any other kittie or bean that needs healing purrs.

Caught in the Act

Mum caught me pushing one of the snow people off the top of the shelves. Yep I am good at that.
I got one more pushed off and then jumped down to inspect the victims. They will be fine, mum already put them back up so I can push them down again sometime.

ManCat Monday

Cats are cool. They have style, personality, sophistication and just the right amount of confidence. - Michael Bolton
That quote is so true about my furiend Miles Meezer. He is not feeling well and will be going to the VET on Thursday for lots of tests. Please go by and give him some healing purrs. If you can, make a donation to assist with his VET bills. His beandad doesn't have a jobbie right now.
Hope everycat and bean had a good weekend. Mine and mum's started early as she took off work on Friday. It was a beauteous sunny day so lots of sunny spots for me to nap in. Mum said she liked all of the sun too, she said it beat staying inside and working!

Mum and her furiend Miss Jane went off shopping and here is one of the things she brought home. Mum says she can put it on a table, then there will be less area to dust. Isn't the fabric cool?
This is the top part, cats and fish, below is a close up of the fabric on the top.
Below is the back side, mum wonders if the fabric symbols actually say something or not. Sort of looks like Adan! Maybe he will know what it says!
Mum got some other stuff, but part of it is similar to something we sent to my Secret Paw, so I don't want to show it just yet.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - Lost - mum and Grampie are disappointed in them, specially the defense.

The Colts - Won

Brett the Jet - Won

Saturday and Sunday were cloudy but warm. Our snow piles got smaller and it even rained some. Mum and Grampie were outside looking at the roof and all and said the rain could come as it had a place to drain to when it went off the roof. But at least we don't have ice like they have in New England.

Sixth Folder, Sixth Picture Meme

I got tagged for the picture meme by 4 Cats Ruffin It. I sent this picture in for the CB Calendar for 2008. It is on the December page, for "party time".
Mum had three folders of pictures for her then Catpics05, Catpics06, Catpics07. So this was from 2007. I was cellybrating getting my collar taken off, you can see it by my tail. I also think mum had brough home something that had nip on it, so I was being a bit nipped out!

I tag the rest of the cat blogosphere on this one, show us your pictures!

Farewell Friday

It has been a sad week. Three our our furiends have gone ahead to The Bridge, you will be missed but live on in our hearts.

I think I will just go hide for a bit under the sheet and remember my furiends. Mum I need a few moments here, OK? Thanks.
Mum says it is supposed to warm up some this weekend. That might shrink a few of our snow piles. The ones at the end of the driveway are about 4 feet high. Mum will be happy if they are shorter, it is hard to toss snow up that high!

Have a good weekend and go snuggle with your beans.

Enough Winter

I got a surprise today, mum came home early from work! She had some time to take off, so she took the afternoon off, did her routine bean vet visit and came home to me.

We had lots of snow again, so when mum got home she had to go outside and clean off everything, refill the fevver feeders and all.

Mum said she is tired of winter already and is ready for spring! Can someone please send some spring back to us, mum really needs it. This is bad since we aren't even half way through December yet.

Then she has been making peanut brittle like crazy. Four batches! Working on the Christmouse cards. She got one from an old furiend that she hadn't heard from in a few years.

Hey Aunty Deb! I know you are travelling, hope your Dr visits go well.
I also got my Secret Paws assignment. Mum and I were going through the treat and toy cupboard to check out what we have that we can send. This is always fun finding the right stuff to send along.

ManCat Monday

Cats do not have to be shown how to have a good time, for they are unfailingly ingenious in that respect. - James Mason
Mum was being silly the other night. I was just minding my own business and napping on the couch; she puts one of my play mousies on me and takes a picture.

I showed her! I dragged it into her sleepy room, when she got up she thought I had caught a real mousie!! That showed her.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - Lost

The Colts - Won

Brett the Jet - Lost

If you think we have lots of snow now, we may double what we have on the ground in the next few days. Mum is not happy and is tired of snow and it isn't even Christmouse yet! Will give you a picture when we can after the storm comes and goes. I think we need to move to Hawaii. Warm, sunny, what more could a cat want.

Caturday

This is what it looks like outside our house in the back. A week ago you could see the grass, now it is all white. We have had snow three times this week and more to come this next week. Mum is hoping this won't be like last winter!
Mum left one of her wind chimes outside. It got wet and all icy so she brought it in to melt off.
She just left it in the sink to drip off, that wet clear stuff was cold on my tongue.
Mum has started to get the Christmouse stuff out. That means the little white people have made their appearance. Mum keeps at least a few out as long as we have snow on the ground. Mum says she hopes she can put them away early this year.
No tree yet, mum says that will wait for a week or so. She doesn't want me to chew on the light cords! So I guess I will nap for now.

Finally Friday

Another week is just about over and I have finally gotten mum to start working on the Christmouse cards. She came home last night and went in the room that is normally blocked off to me. She got the puter printer thingy to work and start spitting out paper with addresses and some letters. Mum did her stuff and Grampies too.
Here is the pile of cards in their envelopes, the cards are signed, the address labels stuck on the the return address thingy put on too.
Yes mum I do have to sit here and watch you. I want to make sure you get this done properly.
Yes, I can help you put the final sticker things on the back. Now mum has to sort them out by who has to get a letter and/or hand written notes put in them. Some just have to be sealed, put on the stamp and off to the station with them. The ones that have to go outside Mericky, mum says those will go to the station today!

Now about that New, Big, Shiney thing that has invaded. Thursday is trash day so the old one got emptied and taken away.
Mum has it in the corner next to the wall and the big cold box. So I can't get behind it to shove it over. It is too tall for me to stand up and pull over (that is what I would do with the old trash box). The container next to it has my foods in it, but even if I get on top, I don't think I can open it. Or if I do open it, and go inside, Ithink I would bet stuck inside until mum got me out. Stay tuned I will let you know if I get inside!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

New, Big, Shiney

Mum came home with a big box tonight. Not sure I like what is in it, but mum says she is happy and hope this solves a problem.
It is tall, but not shiney enough to see myself.
It has a spot on the top that you push and then the top pops open. Mum has no problem pushing the top, but I can't reach it.
Once the top is open you can see a white bag that will hold stuff that mum will toss away.
She put it in the middle of the kitchen floor for now as the old trash holder is still in its spot.
Mum, you mean you don't like coming home to this? I am not happy that I probably won't be able to get into the trash anymore! This is totally not fair to me. I like to check the trash out for stuff to chew on.

Derby's Mum: I was getting tired of coming home to having the trash pulled over nearly every day. Derby will chew on practically anything, then yaks up. I was concerned that he might actually swallow something. After Misty's experience this past weekend pushed me to go shopping and get a trash container, that hopefully is "Derby proof".
