The Games Continue

HIYa, Ducky here. I am still basking in the glow of my high jump medals. But time to team up with Derby for the synchronized snoozing over at The Island Cats.  Wally and Ernie are doing a great job hosting this event. We are happy to have made it to the finals. Here is our entry.

So head on over and vote for somecat or two. We are competing against so many of our furiends, that, well, regardless of exactly who wins, we all have had fun competing.

MiniManCat I Can't Wait for Monday to Post!

Dogs remember faces, cats places. - English Saying

And your Gold Medal Winner for Technical High Jump is.......

DUCKY

I beat out two woofies for the top spot. Cats Rule!

Would you look at this, I shared the silver meal with Charlie at JB's Small World

Thanks so much to Penelope and Kozmo at Cat's From Hell for hosting the event. It was an amazing competition. I am overwhelmed that I manged to beat out other such great cats and woofies. Thanks to all of you who voted. I know we made sure mum voted. Heck at one point she saw one cat didn't have any votes, so she went and voted for them. Says everyone who entered needed at least one vote.

If you haven't seen my entry, here it is.First the two still pictures with mum and the officul measuring thingy. Straight up and down from my take off point to the top of the cupboard is about 36 inches but from my take off point I have to fly about 41 inches.

Then the video, which is an edit down version from here.

Caturday The Games!

The games have begun. So much excitement with the competition. The purrade of cathletes was wonderful and we loved the parrot lighting the torch.

We entered a few events and are waiting to find out if we made the finals or not in some of them.

High jump - Ducky has a chance, not in the lead but has gotten lots of votes in both the artistic and technical high jump.

Counter Surfing - Derby and Ducky, the event is on August 2, so this next week.

Balance Beam - Ducky, didn't make the finals, but some of our furiends did, so now we have to figure out who we should vote for. You can go to Cory's to check out the finalist and vote.

Synchronized Snoozing - Finalists to be announced on Monday July 30. So we have our paws crossed.

If you want to see the whole list of events, go here!

May the best cat, or woofie win!

We did take time to sit with mum and watch the human opening ceremony too. We give four paws up each to Her Majesty for being a Bond girl. Heck even the corgi's got into the act.

Mum watched a tiny bit of the dressage on line this AM, for the eventing group. It was quiet, no talking, no commenting, just watching the horsies and riders. But then if you were watching, you probably knew enough to follow along without all the talking.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend!

Garden Thursday

 ::MEOW::

Hello it is Virginger and welcome to Garden Thursday. Not a happy time in our garden. The hots and drys have not been kind to the plants. You can click below to biggify, but we live in the part of the state that is in RED. Meaning extreme drought.

We did get a little bit of rain, here and there, but not much to break the drought, mum says not even a full inch over the past week. Plus we had a winter with little or no snow, and now not much rain.
The snow on the mountain is getting brown.
We got the one nice stargazer lily and now the rest of the plant is turning brown. Mum even watered this too!
Our normally lush and green ferns are all looking deaded.
But the weeds are growing and blooming. Here is the wild thistle mum has let grow. At least we have one thing that is blooming. Even if it is a weed.

That is all for now, hope the rest of you have a better looking garden than we do.

Love, Virginger.

Thanks Guys

A few weeks ago we got a package in the mail from our buddies, Shaggy and Scout, from Little Cat Feet.

It was a plague rat filled with valerian. Oooo, la, la!

Derby getting the first sniffs after mum got it out of the package.
Down on the floor getting ready to go at it for a while.
Ducky coming over to check it out, see what all of the good grunts were about.
Mine, all mine, well for now.
 Ducky's first sniff.
 I loves this ratty.
 Mine, yes, you are mine.
Mine some more, let me rub my face all over you.
 The big stretch..
OK, have we had enough for now? I guess so.

Thanks Shaggy and Scout.

ManCat Monday

The cat is a dilettante in fur. - Theophile Gautier

Happy Monday, or in some cases OHIM, Oh heck it's Monday. Which ever it is for you, have as good of one as you can.

The semi-hots are back. So we aren't doing much. Mum went out in the heat to play with racy cars but it was the close track, so came home for overnight. She says her feets hurt by the end of the weekend. Too much standing on hot surfaces and too much standing out in the sun.

Garden Thursday

 ::MEOWW::

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday! It is me, Virginger your wonderful hostess with the mostest from the garden.

Guess what?! We got some rain! Not much but at least we did get a bit on late Tuesday and early Wednesday AM. Then nasty storms were headed our was on Wednesday night, but they got less nasty as they go to us, so we mostly got needed rains. We are happy about this.
A little puddle at the end of the driveway.
Water drops on the leaves and flowers of the impatients in the front.
Dry and wet on the front of the house.

Our first star gazer lily finally starting to open. Mum has been watering this so we would get at least a few pretty flowers this summer.
Here you can see how cracked the earth is from being dry. This is in mum's garden with the flowers. She is happy she didn't try to put in anything new this year, which would have needed lots of water.
That is all for today. You all be good, stay cool and such.

Love, Virginger.

Mini ManCat Monday

A cat would eat fish, and would not wet her feet. - John Heywood

HiYa, Ducky here. The hots are back again, so we aren't doing much.

We did get our entries in for the Pet Games. Iffen you want to see and then vote for my high jump entry head on over to CatFromHell. I am in both the artistic and technical categories.  Lots of really good competition.

Even when it is hot, we got and catch some rays in the kitch-hen windows. That is where the late afternoon sun comes through. So we still soak up some solar power in spite of the heats outside. Thankfully our cooling monster in the dungeon works well and the inside of the house is cool.

Mum had to do some cooking this weekend. She made sure she did it early before the sun hit those windows and made the kitch-hen even hotter.

Garden Thursday

 ::Meowwww:

Hi Virginger here. Welcome to Garden Thursday. The really hots have gone, but still warmish, but nice enough for open windows for the boys and mum too.

To cool us all off, we give you a picture from February 2011 and our bee-lizzard that we had then.
And to get us some flowers, an older picture of me with some flowers mum bought at the store to cheer us all up.
That is all. Yes a short post, but with our hot and dry summer, not a good time for our garden. Not  much going on.

Love, Virginger

ManCat Monday

You know you're a cat lover when your cat has smoked salmon for tea... and you have beans on toast. - Author Unknown

The hots are gone, the hots are gone! We gets open windows again!

We are so happy, mum is too. Plus mum went off to play with racy cars this weekend while it was all hots. Thankfully they shortened the event because of the heat. Every one drank lots of water and was OK. No heat related accidents too.

Mum is taking today off from day hunting. Says she has chores to do AND, we have to wrap up our PetLymic entries.

Garden Thursday

 ::meow::

Hi Virginger here, trying to stay cool. Yes we ramic kitties get hot too. Mum comes out for a little bit, sometimes to cook her foods or feed the fevvers or fill the fevver bath.

So we are laying low, not doing much. We hopes all of our Mericky furiends had a safe Fourth of July. We did and it was a quiet one too. Outside fires, fireworks, sparklers etc have been prohibited due to our extremely dry weather.
Yes it was this hot at our house yesterday. Mum says this outside sensor is pretty accurate.
The old fashioned temperature thingy showed 98 at the same time.
This was the time of the temp and pictures.
The weather guessers TV show showing how hot is it was just after 6 PM.
The overall high for the day at the official spot at the airport. Gee, haven't been 100 or over in early 7 full years.
I guess I should show you some picture of the garden. Here is the trumpet vine, all bloomed out already. Normally this doesn't bloom until August and into September. By fall all the flowers will be bloomed and gone.

Stay cool everyone!

Love Virginger.

Happy Purrthday America!

Happy 236th purrthday America.

Happy Independence Day to our fellow American Kitties. Hope all have a great day and cellybrate responsibly and have been cellybrating all weekend safely.

The official big fireworks was last night in our area, many places are cancelling them because of the dry conditions. Don't want to cause fires. The big ones could happend cuz they shoot them off of barges in Loch Mich.

We ordered these special in that they don't make booms to scare kitties. They are pretty but won't scare you. Now to honor America, please join in and sing a few songs with us. Sing them from your heart.
God, bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, And guide her
Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains To the prairies To the oceans white with foam, God, bless America, My home, sweet home.God bless America Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains
To the prairies To the oceans white with foam
God bless America

My home sweet home
God bless America....

My home sweet home!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!
