Mini-ManCat Monday

One small cat changes coming home to an empty house, to coming home.

Mum always liked coming home to an not empty house. Someone to say hello to when she got home from day hunting. Or even now coming back from just being out for a little bit. I always like it when she comes in and says "Ducky, mummy is home".

We got more snow this week but it will be melting fast. Although Friday mum had to go out for something and they hadn't plowed our street so mum had to drive through it. By the time she got home the street was clear, so mum did the drive.

It has been a crazy winter weather week. Icy stuff on Tuesday, snow on Thursday night. Way more white stuff in one week than we have had all season at one time.

This was the icy stuff on Wednesday morning. After the sun worked on it mum got it all cleared off. Then below was Friday AM with 5 inches of snow. You can see the tire tracks from where the naybors drove off.
Even the fever feeders were deep in snow. Mum got this all cleared off so the birdies and get foods.

So where am I? Right here. Sitting on mum, watching outside. This week we want to watch the snow melt! One of mum's furiends sent her a message saying she had red-winged blackbirds at her feeders. That means they will be here soon.

Keeping warm on the heaty vent in the floor.

Come on spring! March starts this week. We want warms and maybe then mum will so an open window for me for a bit.

Have a good week everyone!

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

The first book I actually read in 2019 but the picture came up in 2020 with the others. Author writes some thriller type books which I have liked. Currently reading her latest book.

Some one asked about which are my favorites. Hard to say since I read so many. Guess my best answer would be "The next one!"

The Glass House by Emily St. John Mandel I couldn't get into, but liked one of  her earlier works called Station Eleven. A story about a pandemic. It was our community read back in 2020 just as the pandemic started. The pandemic in the book is much more severe than what we have experienced.

Mini-ManCat Monday

Given a house full of carpets, shelves, cushions, chairs, window sills, any cat will choose to sleep on the document you are using.

Yeah, mum says I make a grate door. I put myself between her eyes and whatever she wants to look at. Book, crow-shay, the moving picture box.

Wild weather week. It was warm and rainy, then Friday night it got all crazy with high winds and snow. It didn't last long but we did get enuf for mum to get her shovel out. It dried all clear in a few hours.

Sunday, it was back to sunny and nice temps and all this melted. Not much left of the snow, even the places where it is piled up. Bad thing this week they are saying we might get ice! No, we don't want ice!

Yesterday was love your pet day. I get loved every day! Well, maybe a bit extra yesterday.

Me and mum watched CrashCar yesterday. At least this year they didn't get rained out, so that was good. Mum wished they would get rid of the guy who yells all the time rather than just talking. Mum's fav driver didn't win, oh well. First race of the season.

Mum heated up leftovers for dinner, it included fish! Yep mum shared her fishy piece with me and that made me furry happy. You can go out for lunch all the time if you bring me fishy back.

Plus I want to send healing purrs to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. She tested positive for the nasty virus. I like HM and want her to stick around a while longer. Feel better Lizzy!

Happy week everyone.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Happy Birthday to ME! Yes, I get to be officially a year older today.

Not every book you see was actually read. Some books intrigue me but when I actually get to reading them I go "MEH". At which point I put the book down and go to the next one.

I know many of you have favorite authors that you won't see here. Just a matter of personal taste.

I really enjoyed A Dog Named Beautiful but it did bring tears. Non-fiction and someone I know met the author a few years back. Says he is a nice guy.

I am being treated to lunch today by a friend and I have an email that will get me a free desert at the place where we are going. Not eating at home much this week or buying groceries. I have freebees at a few other places too.

Mini-ManCat Monday

Cats were put into the world to disprove the dogma that all things were created to serve man.

Yeah, we don't serve you humans, you serve us!

Yesterday was my Gotcha Day, and me and mum cellybrated 12 years together. Pretty good! She says I am the longest relationship of her adult life with a male! MOL! Silly mum.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all as well. Be nice to your sweetie. So me and mum will cellybrate some more today. A big shout out to my fur sweetie Dora! Below is a pic of her paw in the snow. She was brave and stepped outside!

The sun keeps coming north. Now the sun is actually shining on the inside of the house, not just the window frame. We like that.

Nice sunny days the past few mornings. So it is nice to sit and soak up the warms. Mum will go out when it is sunny just to get a few rays. Says it is good for her mental health.

Final Feetsball Report

Mum watched the game, didn't go to any game parties. She would rather just watch it at home. So we have to concatulated the LaLa Land Rams. None of the ads were super memorable.

So enuf feetsball for another 6 months or so. Mum says CrashCar starts next weekend.

Stay safe everyone.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

As you can see I read both fiction and non-fiction. Just what interests me. Non-fiction is history, biography and memoir type books. Some current affair stuff as well.

Fiction, mostly mysteries, thriller type stuff. I laugh at the mysteries, small town, lots of deaths with a bit of romance thrown in. Would be a high crime rate if the place was real. Not sure I would want to live there. Entertaining quick reads.

Top picture the title is "Books Can Be Deceiving" in case you are interested.

Megan, my library puts that same note about how much the books checked out are worth. I like it because I compare it to how much I save not buying books and compare it to what I pay in property taxes which helps pay for the library. Plus a few years ago some of our local elected officials weren't supportive to the library. Shows them how much the local citizens are using the library. Below is my last checkout slip from 2021. No way I would have purchased these either. I can use that money for other things. I usually don't pay that much attention to it until the end of the year.

They will also use it to announce programs and such. Although most programs are on hold due to the fact the sprinkler system broke last month and caused extensive damage in the large meeting room. Repairs are underway.

Mini-ManCat Monday

A dog is a dog, a bird is a bird, a cat is a person

Quiet weekend for me and mum. She didn't watch any feetsball, a tiny bit of the Olympics and a bit of CrashCar. She readed her books, watched fevvers with me and did the laundry. Such an exciting life.

Not to worry anyone, those are fake flowers. I like to chew on fake flowers, so that is why mum won't keep any real live plants or flowers inside. She doesn't want me to get into anything that would make me sick.

One of mum's furiends is really on things and sent mum a purrthday card. Mum's purrthday isn't until next week. Mum says she amemebered, that is what counts.

You see on the far left? That is the sun coming back north so that it hits the back of our house. Soon it will be shining inside the house!

Plus it was sort of warm yesterday and melty, so you can see the grass in lots of places. We haven't gotten much snow this winter and it is going away already.

Me just napping and looking happy!

Mum says she will be bizzy this week. Head fur trimming, going to the human stabby place which got cancelled this past week, oil change on the metal monster and to relax on Friday, a massage!

Stay safe, stay healthy, wear a mask when things are bad. Things are looking better here!

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Happy Ground Hog's Day. Maybe the rodents around the country can do better on predicting the weather than the weather guessers on the moving picture box.

Also Happy Chinese or Lunar New Year. It is the year of the Tiger!

Like I said Monday, I will turn this over to mum to talk about her books.

Going back to the beginning of when I started posting the library books I had checked out. This started in May 2020 after the library reopened for curb side pickup of books. Those of us on FaceBook were sharing what we were reading because we all needing to share stuff to do while we were stuck home!

Our library software system allows patrons to request books online and put a hold on them. I had been doing this since I broke my ankle in November 2019. No wandering the stacks for me. Plus many of the books I want to read are not always at my own library.

So once all of my requests are in, all I have to do is get to the circulation desk, get my books and go. Since I was on the library board for 10 years some of the staff remember me, so they see me and they go get my books. During curb side only pickup we also had to return books the outside drive up slot. No going inside at all for anything.

Plus with no new TV shows I went back and got the early seasons of NCIS and a few movies I wanted to watch.

I just read Michael Lewis' The Premonition this week.
