Photo Shoot Round Three

OK here is a few of lots of pictures that mum has taken recently. You can click on the pictures to biggify them to see the details. Enjoy!

If you are in the US, enjoy our holiday weekend. Mum and I are taking a short break for the holliday.

Butterfly One
Here he is perching on one of the daylillies.
Then he flew over to the the butterfly bush to gets some nectar to eat.
He turned all the way over and is doing a full Monty!
One last picture of butterfly number one.
Bumble bee is cleared for landing on the cone flower.

Hummer pictures

The hummer coming in for a landing to get some yummy eats from the trumpet vine. The hummer is just to the left and above of the central flower cluster.
Stopping to eat.
Flying away.
While the hummer flew away he came back and actually sat still on the flower for a brief moment.
Then off he goes again.
Then he flew over to get a big long drink from the hummer feeder.

This is a young woodpecker coming to visit the suet cake. Mum says we have lots of woodpeckers and she has been going through two suet cakes a month, even in the summer.
Mum isn't sure exactly what this is that is feeding on the butterfly bush. Looks too big to be a bee but it isn't a hummer either.

Butterfly Two
This is a different butterfly from the first. The coloring is different and you can see that a chunk of wing is missing.

If anyone knows exactly what kind of butterflies these are mum would like to know. Also, none of these picutres have been cropped or changed in any way. Some of them might be better if they were cropped, but giving you the full view.

Now number 2 on the list is War of the Worlds. She used to have a recording of the original radio broadcast done many, many years ago that scared lot of people. That is says is really cool, so if you can find a recording of it, listen to it!

I won't tag any specific cat. Play if you want.

I Dare Ya

I submitted my suggestion to Karl for the next set of dares. I won't tip my paw on this one, but I think it is good! I have done it, so I know it can be done and it won't involve PhotoShop!

ManCat Monday - In Honor of Not The Mama

With the qualities of cleanliness, affection, patience, dignity, and courage that cats have, how many of us, I ask you, would be capable of becoming cats? - Fernand Mery
Today we are also honoring a nice CatMan! Mo, Not the Mama of Purrchance to Dream. Not The Mama is a cat magnet. If there is a stray, it finds him! He helps these kitties find homes. He also has been a great guy helping with the CB and CFHF as well. Concatulations!Go and see his newest "save", Pete is a cutey!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We had more excitement over the weekend. Mum came home on Friday and helped me blog and ate some dinner. A bit later she went outside and there was lots of water rushing down the street!
You can see it here with so much water that it was backing up into our driveway.
Here it is going down into the drain which is on the far end of our house lot.
What happened? It looks like the street sprung a leak but mum says there was a water main that broke under the street.
Mum did walk down there before she got out the flashy box. Later big trucks showed up to fix it, so by Saturday morning the water was shut off but there is still a mess in the street of the dirt and all.

Plus mum talked with the neighbor and found out why our electric went off on Thursday. No accident or critter getting into a box, an underground cable failed. It really didn't bother us too much. It was getting to bedtime so mum just went to bed! So we had all sorts of excitement here for a few days.

Mum and I sorta just chilled out otherwise. I napped, she readed her book, we watched a some of the 'Lympics and all. Mum says we won't have much to do this week with TV, she does not care to watch the political stuff.

Plus we will have more photo shoot stuff to show soon. Mum had her fancy flashy box outside on Sunday.

Lights Out

Well I am finally getting around to my Friday post. Mum was going to help me last night and then all of a sudden, the lights went out, the lights came back on, went out, came on and then went off for a long time! It wasn't just us, the whole neighborhood was dark. It is strange being in with no excess light, no street lights, porch lights etc. I know our FL furiends have probably had it worse with TS Fay, but it was a shock to not have electric!

Mum had to light candles and not for anybody going to The Bridge. Since it was already getting late, mum didn't stay up much longer, said we could use the extra sleeps. This morning, heck any morning, mum doesn't have time to help me blog. It is get up, get dressed, eat breakfast and head to work!
So we didn't do much last night, no sure why the power went out, but our neighbor works for the company so she will be able to find out. See if it was a critter or an accident that knocked the lights out. It wasn't a storm, we weren't having any storms.

Flower Friday - some of our purrty day lillies.
The weekend is here, mum is home from work. I have gotten my first share of treats and scritches for the evening.

Happy weekend one and all.

It's Handled

Thanks for the offers to come over and help with the mousie, but I took care of it tonight.
The black tail you see is my stuffed Tuxie to remind me of my sweet Princess MiaBella.
Mum came home after her day hunting and left to run an errand. When she got back I had cornered the mousie and taken care of the issue. That'll teach'em to come in MY house.

Derby Needs.....

The rules: All you have to do is Google your first name with the word "needs" behind it and post the results.

Derby needs a push- where are you pushing me to? off the couch?

Derby needs to improve - Improve? I am purrfect!

Derby needs you - Yes I do, I need to you to vote for Chey.

Derby needs an update - of what?

Derby needs to be gone -No I can just stay home, yup, I can.

Derby needs help - do I?

Derby needs a classic - Book, car, yes I need a classic car. A Jaguar XKE, for mum her favorite classic sports car.

Derby needs a smoking ban - you bet, clear the air for all breathing beings.

Derby needs to get the cash wheel turning - yes, green papers for me for so I can help other kitties and beans, plus a few extra treats and toys

Derby film needs extras - A film of me? well I would need all of my furiends to play themselves!I am still working on finding that mousie from the other night. He is hiding furry well from me, mum says maybe he got scared and went back outside.

ManCat Monday

"The cat does not negotiate with the mouse." - Robert K. Massie

Well I did have a quiet weekend, partly because mum was around but not a lot and she didn't go and play with racecars either!

Friday she left and came back after the moon came up. Plus she had all sorts of jingling coins in her pockets. At first I thought maybe she robbed a bank but she was invited by her former boss to come and play cards. They play for money and mum won! Mum says she had about 5 dollars in coins to start and came home with 13. I think this means more treats and toys for me!

But when she got back she smelled like woofies, another kittie. The first woofie decided he needed to nap on mum's feets while she played cards. This is Kaiser.
This is the other woofie, Diesel, he was a little terror running arouond. He is a show dog so he still has his hoo-ha's, but mum says they might not continue to show him as his beanmom misses him when he goes off to shows.
Mum has no pictures of the kittie as she is camera shy, but mum did get to hold her and came home with black furs all over her. Mum says she has a cute little white spot on her belly. Said she is as big as me and mum can't even remember her name! Plus there were two ratties in a cage, mum's furiend likes animals.
Saturday she was gone for most of the after noon and evening. She and Grampie went to meet Uncle Stormie in a ShyTown. Uncle Stormie was there for a meeting and had time before his flight home for dinner. So they got to see each other, see a few pictures of the wedding in India. Then she dropped him off at ORD and she and Grampie came home. Here is a picture of the sky just as she was driving and almost home.
So since mum had left me all alone for so much I figured I owed it to her to make her pay attention to me! So I woke her up at 4 AM as I was chasing a mouse who had invaded. Mum said lots of words off of the bad word list. The mousie even tried to climb up into mum's bed! She was not happy about that. But the mousie got away, but I think it might be hiding near here, so I will wait and pounce again.
Have a good week everyone.

View from my Window

This is me from the outside of the front window. When the weather is nice I can sit here and watch the world go by in the front of the house.
This is what I see, flowers, trees, the street, cars and other houses. I don't see any other kitties. But the picture above was taken through the screen exactly as I would see it.
Here is a clearer view, taken by mum standing outside and also on another day! I can see the pretty flowers, the green grass, the trees and check out they neighbors.

Plus thanks to Socks, Scylla & Charybdis for this award. I am humbled to received it. I think every cat in the Cat Blogosphere deserves this.
Please continue to purr for MontyQ's family. Our hearts are so heavy and our eyes have been leaking.

Photo Shoot - Round 2

Mum was going crazy with the flashy box again today. She was using her big fancy flashy box outside, so I was not the subject of this photo shoot. She was taking pictures outside of the flowers outside. Mr Monarch came to visit and mum got lots of pictures.
She took 313 pictures to get THIS!
Not bad, eh?

Finally Friday -08/08/08

Hey it is Friday, Yay. Can't wait for mum to get home so we can play and play and play all weekend. Plus the 'lympics start tonight, so I guess we will watch some of that stuff over the next few weeks. Look at the fancy date today, eights and zeros.

Below is another of my photos from the photo shoot the other night. I had turned to face the other way for a while. I don't usually mess much with mum's litterbox. I don't drink from it, but I have played in the water. This must be a ginger thing as Billy SweetFeets Gingersnap has wet feet too sometimes.
Sometimes I jump up and sit behind mum as she, ummm, does her business. Sometimes I just keep walking back and forth brushing up against her. I rarely let her alone in there. So that evening I jumped up behind mum. She finished and then went to get the flashy box. I stayed put for a few minutes just watching the bug.

New Kitty alert! Go say hi to Mortimer please. He needs more visitors and Catster furends too.

Flower Friday

Here are a couple more pictures of our morning glories. This day we got three flowers on the same day. Some days we don't have any, and at most three so far. Mum has two pots on each side the the metal monster's room door, but only one pot has bloomed so far.
In case you don't know, these flowers only last one day, the open in the morning and by evening they close up like below and then mum picks the blooms off to keep the plants looking pretty.
Plus the weather continues to be nice so lots of open windows. I love open windows.

The number 4 saga continues, he has left Whiskerconsin and headed for New York, New York. It is such a big story it even was on the BBC website. The BBC is in the UK where Fat Eric lives. They don't normally worry about our brand of feetsball. But the local TV is still in overkill here. Mum got home to watch the news and they had his press conference on TV from New York. Enough already, he's gone, let him and it go. Get on with your lives!

OK, enough ranting, time to chill for the weekend.

Photo Shoot

Mum caught me looking rather handsome the other night and started taking lots of pictures. I was looking up at the ceiling as their was a bug. Here are a few out takes from the session!
Here is one of the better pictures of me, looking up, good light in the room so no flashy thing from the flashy box to make my eyes glow. Not bad for an impromtu session.
Where was I that I looked so good?

And you can go check out my full Monty pose as well. It is a little blurry, but I was moving!

Oh and I almost forgot, NOMS Day. Happy Day to my special buds, Fiona and Orlando, better known as Fi and Lando. Those cute buns who live with Sophia, the Diva Kitty.
