Garden Thurday

Hello and Welcome from Virginger. Yes, I am still the only one outside. Mum promises me that the other two girls are getting kicked out this weekend. No more excuses.

After our bit of rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow last weekend, it got sort of nice. Going to be a bit cool yet for a while. Flowers are still starting to come out.
The daffs are just starting to open up, plus it is nice to see more green leaves in the flower beds.
These tiny little things are Grecian windflowers. Mum only planted a few of these years ago, they live on and get moe of them.
The four-sith-ia is getting ready to open up as well. Mum loves this as a sign of spring.
A few of the hiya-sinths starting to show the flower stalk that will open up soon. Tulips are coming but the daffs have to bloom first.

Mum is ready to go on the war path with the sqwerls! Look at what they did to the sock for the finch seed! Chewed holes in it and all the seed drops out. This was a brand new sock! Plus them crazy sqwerls don't even eat the seed! They are destructive little buggers!
This was taken over last weekend, you can still see a tiny bit of snow left on Caturday. It is all gone now.

That is all from the garden, Love Virginger.

Tuesday This and That

Mum is sounding and feeling better, just goes to day hunt and comes right home to rest. She looks at the puter for a bit, reads a bit, then early bed for her.

I don't usually post about all the kitties that run off to The Bridge. So many of them and many I don't know. Monty Q I knew. He had a habit of laying out with his back legs stretched out. It was called Doing The Q

He had a contest the first few months after I moved in here with Mum and Derby. Mum got pictures of me Doing the Q and so she entered me. I WON! First contest ever, I won!

Farewell Monty and I will always Do the Q in your honor.

ManCat Monday

When anyone mistreats it, the cat wants nothing more to do with that person and will remember him or her for a long time. It doesn't believe in the doctrine of turning the other cheek and won't pretend that it does.  - Lawrence N. Johnson

Mum treats me super nice, makes sure I have all the foods, treats and comfort I need. Most important I get loves, lots of loves.

Mum is starting to feel better. She laid low all weekend other than that one quick trip for foods. She napped lots and I napped with her.
Mum didn't even cook, she brought home a fishy fry on Friday night. All sorts of yummy stuff.
Yes she shared with me, she didn't dare not too after I was sitting nicely waiting for her to get it out of the bag.
Otherwise mum stuck to reheating stuff or, hmmm, eating chocolate. Maybe that is why she is feeling better, eating chocoate! Not that boring chick-hen soup stuff.

Back to Monday, have a good week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy day before Easter Day. We have nice sun so far today, it is getting warmer. Our snow from the other day is going away.
Driveway AM and PM, the power of sun! We kitties know that, that is why we like to nap in sun puddles.

The back pretty much melted and Virginger is not covered in snow! She is a hardy lady cat!
Here is mum's attempt at an arty picture. This was taken from her day hunting place out the window on Friday AM before it got warms and melted the ice off the berries.

I have my purrer all rev'd up. Mum is all sniffy and sneezy. Seems she finally has a cold, the first one in over a year. She says she will be resting and napping lots with me so she feels better. What a good human.

Garden Thursday - Updated.

Update 6 PM on Thursday - We got rain, then freezing rain, which made the trees purrty. Now we are getting snow. Mum had a slippery ride home, but got here all safe.
The chair on the patio, the birdie bath which is now all frozen and snow on top.
One bit of a tree that broke out of the tree. Not much damage near us from ice and trees, mum said she saw lots in some places on the way home.
Me, I am enjoying my blanket of white. We will have to see how long it takes to melt! Any guesses? No prizes, just for fun!.

Hello from Virginger. Sheesh, we thought spring was here. Our weather sort of said so, the calendar said so, but the weather peoples say NO!
Mum came home from day hunting yesterday, just a tiny bit of snow in a few places. Around the base of the tree.
In the planter out front and below you can sort of see it in the grass. We may get more today, maybe a couple of inches. Mostly a cold, icky rain so far. Mum says it will melt fast.
So that is all for this week from the garden. Love Virginger.

ManCat Monday

The cat of the slums and alleys, starved, outcast, harried, ... still displays the self-reliant watchfulness which man has never taught it to lay aside. - Saki

Me and mum made it through the weekend. Like I said, she was bizzy, bizzy, bizzy purrty much all weekend. Finally on Sunday afternoon she was all caught up and sat down in the napping chair. Stretched out and napped. I hopped into her lap to join her. It was so nice to finally just chill, the two of us together.
Me on Sunday enjoying the sunshine and seeing what is going on outside. Nice to have a sunny day to enjoy, even if inside. Mum did go out in the sunshine. More out to buy stuff that was on special, plus something she needed so she could cook some more.
Mum had all the stuff for this. Another attempt at Yorkshire Pudding, just flour, eggs, milk and a bit of salt. Mix it up good and put it into a super hot pan in the oven. Mum says this is her best effort yet. But since it makes so much she doesn't make it often.
She also slow cooked a pork tenderloin in some fancy sesame ginger sauce and one of her casseroles so she has foods to take to work. Lots of cooking this weekend. Mum says she won't be cooking as much next weekend. Maybe she can just eat Easter Eggs next weekend!
Mum is 100% done with the crow-shay and knitting projects. She got out the ironing board and pressed the little dolly blankie so it will keep its shape. Mum thinks it turned out OK for making up the pattern as she went along! Now she needs to find a box to get everything sent off.
So happy Monday? Spring is here, but snow may come later in the week. Ick.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Goodness. I have no time for mum to sit and help me or cuddle with. She has been on the go, go, go all morning long. Just a brief stop to drop off her foods, feed fevvers and out the door she goes again. She says way too much stuff to get done today.

Just a few more stops of stuff for her to do, then she says she can stay home and cuddle.
I tried sitting on her but that didn't work. You is way too bizzy mum.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to our first official Garden Thursday for this year.

For now, it is just me, Virginger, outside. Glimmer and Trooper are being delicate and staying inside. I am older and used to the weather. It can be wet and windy, or warm and dry. We are having more wet, windy and cool. They will be out soon.
Our one maple tree is starting to leaf out. Mum has done a little bit of outside work, mostly just picking up sticks. She will have more to pick up after our windy day.
The crocus bulbs are up and blooming, other stuff like the tulips, daffs and hiya-cinths are coming up too. We have purple, white with purple stripes, white and yellow.
Here is one of the yellow one and it looks like something has nibbled the flower off. Mum suspects a bun.
Sunday it is officially spring, I think it is already here.

Love, Virginger.

Tuesday This and That

Spring

The spring birds are back
The flowers are bloomin'
Time for a nice snack
You silly human

Ducky
No the mini-blankie is not for me, it is for mum's grand niece Sophia for her doll. Mum is done knitting it, she just has to finish it off. Then find a little something for grand nephew Paul. Then ship everything off to them in time for when the new baby gets here.

ManCat Monday

It is in the nature of cats to do a certain amount of unescorted roaming. - Adlai Stevenson

It is back to Monday, me and mum did OK with the time change. Mum starts on Friday and gets everything set forward, then we operate starting then with the new time. Mum does not lose an hour of sleeps, she just goes to bed early!
Me sitting behind mum while she was working on something or other this weekend. You know my snoopervising duties are never done.
Mum was working on the mini-blankie, she is getting past the half way point. As you can see, I get tired doing all of this snoopervision.
Mum did stuff outside on Caturday since it was so nice. Picking up the sticks the trees tossed down over the winter. Checking out the little plants showing up. Still snoopervising, Do you see me in the windows above? She was picking up sticks and then cooking outside.
Then she brought in the yummies to eat inside. Yep, I got some of the roast beast again, so nommy. Mum tossed out the first eggyplant of the season, likely more to come.

Have a good week all!

Caturday

HiYa, welcome to Caturday. Me and mum are up and doing our weekend stuff. Mum has already started hiding the hour in the clocks, at least the ones that she has to do. The rest reset themselves. So she is basically on the "new" time. Been out, got foods, and I spied a whole lot of little gooshy food cans! Score!

Mum says it will also be a taxing weekend, or at least the weekend she gets her taxes done. She will be off to see the people in a little bit.
I will be napping, watching for fevvers and other good things. Plus snoopervising whatever mum is trying to get done here at home

Happy Weekend.

Tuesday This and That

Spring is here!!!!! The last of the snow disappeared overnight from our yard. You can hear the robins singing and a few goldy finches are starting to turn yellow. More little green shoots are coming out of the ground.

Another sign of spring, mum moved out the grill and grilled beast tonight. Yep, I got my share of this! A purrfect medium rare! YUMMMMMMY!
I have been purring on mum tonight, she is all leaky eyed. The last Grampie's (mum's Dad) siblings has gone to heaven at age 90. Grampie lived the longest, he lived to 95!

ManCat Monday

Again I must remind you that a dog's a dog--a cat's a cat. - T. S. Eliot

Yep, I am a cat and I am glad of it! I love my lifestyle, I get waited on front paw and back. Mum was super nice to me on Caturday. Made sure I had all the loves and kisses I needed. Treats and gooshy foods too. I did lots of naps on Caturday, but by Sunday I was all back to normal.
Mum went out yesterday and when she came home she saw me napping in the front window. Getting all warms, you can even see mum's hands and flashy box.
Then from inside, mum got me napping some more.
We had nice warms and more sun. So most of our snow is gone again.

Feetsball Report

Mr Peyton has decided to hang it up and retire. Mum may have to find a new teams to route for. We shall see.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Well, it has been an interesting day. Things started out normal, but then, mum got me in the PTU and off to the VET!
Yes, I did sing the song of our people. Not so much in the car or even at the VET, but sing I did.
Here I am in the metal monster, all buckled in so I stay safe. Mum drives carefully, unlike the idiot who made an illegal U-turn on a red light no less. She pulled in front of mum, who backed off so we didn't get hit.
My weight, down a bit from last year, but a good spot for me. Usually 8.5-10 pound for me.
OK, I can get off the scale. I managed to avoid the probe being used on me. Didn't realize I was standing right next to it.
A few things have changed in the office. The exam bench is now 90 degrees from what it was. Plus there is the blue mat, so you aren't on the cold, slippery metal bench.
Hmmm, more room on this counter now too, the little cold box that used to sit here is gone. I spy something hiding by the plant!

Treats or maybe bribes for good behavior. But I wasn't given any. Mum provided treats when we got home.
Me just hunkered down and waiting. Mum talked to me all the time giving me pets and kisses to keep me calm. Although I have been a laid back kittie at the VET anyway.
Dr Adam starting to check me over. Hey, you are new here! Yep he is, four vets bought the practice from Dr M who retired. The new guy I saw was nice and gentle, young! He has been practicing for four years and went to Bucky Badger Vet School.
We got a little bit of snow over night. Not much, mum says she isn't going to bother with cleaning off the back at all.
The front melted all on its own! Mum says that is the advantage of an asphlat driveway. It is dark, soaks up heat and then can melt what hits in at this time of year. Going to be nice this next week. Plus we are seeing spring birds, robins, red-winged black birds and grackles.

Off to ignore mum for while, then bug her for gooshy foods and treats again.
