Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! Happy Leap Day. Looking forward to a sunny day and some warmish temps. Maybe enuf to get mum to open a window.

Mum thought I looked cute napping yesterday. I was all curled up and the tip of my tail was resting up by my face.
The guys came by yesterday afternoon to get the broken branch out of the tree. They had two huge trucks and mum laffed that it was over kill, but one guy to do the work and a spare in case something went wrong.
So here is the broken branch, this happened in a storm last fall. Mum wanted it gone afore the leaves come back.
Climbing up and making to where he could saw it off. He had a holster for his saw strapped to his boot!
One of the two big trucks, this one with the chipper that came by to do the work. Probably took them less than 15 minutes.
What it looks like now that the broken part is gone.
Plus mum went out to party last night! Yep, she put on  her sort of fancy duds and went to a birthday bash. Don't worry she was super safe, she even wore her ankle brace in case it was slippery. It wasn't, so once she got inside she took it off. She chatted with furiends, had an adult beverage and was home in time for her usual bedtime! She says the senior citizen types don't stay long. She had to come home on time as she is off to a Master Gardener talk today.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend. Last day, Leap Day, for February!

Throw Back Thursday

Howdy all. We didn't get hit by the snow storm this week. It went south of us and mum is happy for that. Mum even spied some daffy-dil shoots coming out of the ground yesterday. Plus what snow is left on the ground. Getting thinner but still lots of white stuff on the ground.

Today's throw back kshows one of Derby and my early encounters.

A little cat, meowing by the front door - the perfect welcome home after a hard day at work. - Author Unknown
Yep, I wait by the door for mum to come in from the metal monster room. I can hear the door open and in she walks. She puts down her stuff and I lay down to get my tummy rubs and scritches.

These days I get to see mum first when she comes home as the runt is in quaritine in the sleepy room. So I am the official greeter of the house. Only once I have my fill of pets and scritches does mum go into the sleepy room.

Caturday all sorts of stuff happened. The guy next door came and stole part of our tree! Mum said he was supposed to do that. Mum owes him, but it will be a neighborly owe to buy him his favorite adult beverage!
Then some guy came and put in a new washy thing in the kitchen. Mum said to get a new one before the very old one broked and wouldn't work.

Finally Miss Lynn came by late Caturday afternoon. I got some attention, then they went back to see the runt. I could hear Miss Lynn, ooohing and ahhhing, over him. Then they went to eat, came back and mum let the runt out for a bit, so I chased him around to show Miss Lynn how THoE is played.

Sunday morning mum let the runt out again but put him inside the porch. She did finally let him out so we did the THoE, then this!
I won, pinned him down. Then mum made me leave the sleepy room. But the runt has spunk. In the words of Lou Grant, "I hate spunk."

Laissez les bon temps rouler, or something like that. I am not a French speaking cat but I am a party cat. So let's party!

Mini-ManCat Monday

Cats are good at climbing stone walls, even the walls we build around ourselves.

Yes I am a tiny boy and so I am going back to calling Monday's post Mini-ManCat Monday like it was years ago. Being mini is mighty!

Heh, mum sometimes likes to build a pillow fort around herself in the sleepy spot, so I can't worm in next to her. No problem, I just walk on her and be on top of her!
It was a super sunny weekend and we even got a bit of warms. Mum opened a window for a bit to let some fresh airs into the house. Plus the sun is getting higher and stronger so it really makes for nice napping and getting all warm.

Then in the evening to stay warm mum has her blankie to cover up with, plus me to keep her warm while she watches the moving picture box. Plus you can see the purple blankie she is working on right now. She worked on it while she watched some of the crashcar race and then again while catching up on a recorded show.

Mum moving back into the chair next to me and me getting the love I deserve!

It was so nice Sunday that mum even went for a short walk outside, the snow was melting, but we are supposed to get more snow this week. We both want spring!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. The day is getting off to a wonderful start, we are having another bright and sunny day. We have had four days now with lots of sunshine, but it has been a bit cold. Today isn't going to be so cold. Yipee!

On Tuesday mum took me for my annual checkup, all good. Many people were surprized that I only weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces. I have been between 8-9 pounds all the time I have been with mum. I take that back. Mum looked up that when I first came here I was 7 pounds and 5 ounces. Small but mighty. So mum found some pics that show me with Derby, probably a typical size cat. At the time he was probably 14-15 pounds.

The pics were taken the first year I was here. When I first got here I was 1.5 years old, so really an adult, fully grown cat.

Mum said it was fun to go back to see those pics from the early days. Plus we got to see Derby some more. I know mum misses him.

Anyway, have a good weekend!

Throw Back Thursday.

I had my annual trip out of the house. Mum took me for my visit to the stabby place. Short and sweet. Got my rabies booster, checked all over and weighed. 8 pounds 12 ounces. Mum posted this on Booking the Face and many commented I was a tiny boy. Yep, I am, always will be. Mum will look for pics that show my size next to Derby.

So in today's throw back we look at my first post! It didn't take me long to get on line and meet all of you.

Hello......Is this on?

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

The the lady has left me alone, but this left this machine thing here. I see all sort of other kitties here, so hello to all of you.
I was Briggs at the shelter, but the lady wanted a name that would go together with the other kittie here, so now I am Ducky. I haven't had much face to face time yet with the big kittie, the lady calls him Derby. He has meowed at times from the other side of the door, and I caught a quick glimpse of him as mum whisked me into the house and this morning we met as the lady opened a door. She let us sniff for a minute or so. Otherwise she has kept us apart.
I am a cuddly little guy, soft tummy that is hard to resist and I love getting snuggles, scritches, pets and tummy rubs. The lady has been spending lots of time with me in her sleepy room, so I have been nice and taken a few long naps with her.
The lady has been nice to give me lots of tummy rubs, she can't resist.
The first night I has here, I jumped up and parked my self on top of her legs. To heck with watching them people playing in the snow. Play with me!
I even had a short side trip to visit a place where they gave me the once over from head to toe. The man in the white coat said I was a pretty little guy, healthy and ready to roll. I even purred real nice for him.

Oh, I think the lady is coming back, gotta go for now. More later if and when I can.

Mini-ManCat Monday

Cats have an infallible understanding of total concentration -- and get between you and it. - Arthur Bridges

MOL, so true! Me and mum's book or crow-shay. Or sitting on mum's boobities so she can't do much.

Mum had a nice purrthday. We stayed home but her phone kept making noises with people wishing her a happy day. Later in the day one of the ladies who has cared for me Miss Kellie and her guy stopped by with cup cakes and a card. Mum says thanks for the nice wished you left for her here.
She shared the cupcakes with them while they chatted about stuff. Plus Miss Kellie, trying to get on my good side was giving me treats out of the treat jar. She is a softie when it comes to treats.
She also liked the blankie mum was working on, so mum said she could have it once she was done and she finished it shortly after they left! Mum will see her soon and give it to her.
Are they really gone? Good, now I can go to the kitch-hen and get a snack. I am not fond of people coming into my house. I don't go far. I hang close enuf so I know mum is OK. I might have to resque her.
Plus mum doesn't rest. She started another blankie while she watched the moving picture box in the evening. No rest for the wicked! She says this will be the last blankie for the winter. Then she will work on hats for the warmer weather.

This is the color name. Grape Fizz! Also in French and Spanish.

So everyone have a good week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here, finally. I had to meow at mum more than a few times to get at the puter. Enuf of your stuff, it is my time!

I had a nice Gotcha Day with mum. Lots of loves, foods, treats. So happy to be here. Mum got a few pics of me on her lap. Keeping her warm and giving me loves. Plus a video too!
We have more to cellybrate tomorrow on Sunday. Mum will have completed another trip around the sun, so getting another year older. She says she feels older this year with the aches of the ankle breaking and such. Says if we would get to warmer weather she would feel a whole lot better. Well wouldn't we all. Warms are good for us.

Not much going to happen today. Mum is trying to catch up on things as it has been a bizzy week and next week will be bizzy too.

Happy Weekend everyone.

Throw Back Thursday - Gotcha Day Edition!

WooHoo, today is my 10th Gotcha Day. Mum didn't post about me that first day or two I was with her. She just let me settle in. Although Derby was suspicious of why mum was spending so much time in the sleepy spot. Me and mum are going to cellybrate just staying home.

This was me on Tuesday night. Mum was working on her latest blankie, I was in her lap and we watched the woofie beauty contest from NYC.

A cute expression and a purr, and the latest "shredding incident" is forgotten. - Author Unknown
Will this work for my cute expression? I hope so. I was in sun and shadow and we had lots and lots of sun this weekend to nap in. Mum says we really can tell the days are getting longer.

In other new, I think something is up. Mum has shut me out of her sleepy spot since Saturday. Plus she spent a lot of time in that room and not just sleeping. She took her pile of "I gotta read these magazines" with her.

I sit at the door an called to her, but she won't open the door. Even when Grampie came to visit on Sunday, he got to go in her sleepy spot for a while. I heard them talking, but they wouldn't let me in then either.

Then they came out and mum watched part of the CrashCar race, readed her newsy paper and such, counted birdies with me too. Then she made some dinner for Grampie and took him home. Then got to see the end of the crashcar race. Then some of the 'Lympics and then off to the sleepy room early again!

Stay tuned, plus I get a mum day today, she doesn't have to work on President's Day but say she has stuff to do away from home.

ManCat Monday

You mean my granddaughter is a cat? - Sarah Rouhan

Yep! Furry grand cats and dogs. I didn't get to know Grampie very well, or him to know me. He was a nice and gentle guy. I met him the next day after I came to live with mum. He even suggested a name for me, but mum didn't agree, so I stayed Ducky.

We had a nice Caturday and a snowy Sunday. Mum stayed home both days and rested her ankle. Still a little wonky but she will be seeing the therapy lady today. Hopefully she can help make it feel a bit better.
This was me on Caturday afternoon, just sitting on mum while she readed for a while. Plus she watched the moving picture box some too. Sunday mum turned on the box to watch the crashcar race and boy did they crash a lot. Almost didn't have any cars left at the finish.
Here is the snow as of about 4 PM on Sunday. Mr Nick had been by to clear the drive, but he will need to come back when the snow is all done falling.
Back yard, no fevvers around as mum didn't go out to knock the snow off the feeders. So you can see how deep it has gotten on the one feeder. Maybe 4-5 inches and still snowing.
Oh yeah. Are you a tabby like me? If so are you a member of the Tabby Cat Club? If not we would like to have you join us. We are a low key but fun group of cats who just hang out and have fun. All you have to be is a tabby to join. Click HERE to go to our site and check it out.
So everyone have a wonderful week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Our weekend is getting off to a slow start. Mum's ankle is a bit sore, so she will take it easy. This week she walked four times increasing from three. Plus she went out after dark for a little bit. She knew where she would walk would be clean and dry, so it would be OK.

For the last week we had sun and such, so the snow has gone away. However we are supposed to get more snow tomorrow.
The huge pile is where Mr Nick piles up the snow from the drive. But over this week the big pile is now half of what it was.
When mum came home from walking she spied me sitting on the perch looking out the window enjoying the sun when it peaked out.
Mum came inside and caught me still in the window. Now that it is getting nice I am spending more time in the window.
So what I guess what we will do is just hang out for the weekend. Mum can read her books, maybe watch some moving picture box, keep her feet up. I will occupy her lap to make sure she rests.

Happy Weekend!
