Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Hollow-Weenie and Happy last day of TockTober! Wow this month has gone by fast and tomorrow we are on to the month of giving thanks.

Mum has decided not to give out candy to the little people tonight. Says she doesn't want to get close to many little kids and they don't need to get close to her either. The crazy virus is getting purrty bad around these places and mum is being super careful.

Mum caught me the other night in a spot that she hasn't seen me in a while. I'm on the bottom shelf of the music tune player.

I like to switch things up and keep mum guessing as to where she can find me. Hehe, gotta keep the old lady on her toes!

Waiting and counting down to the election day. Then all those icky ads on the moving picture box will go away. Mum keeps the remote close and hits the mute button a lot.

Mum has to find the hour in the clocks today too. So if you are in Americky don't forget to do that. Mum will be happy to have more daylight in the morning, she has been a slug getting out of bed the past few weeks.

Mum likes to do puzzles so she 'acided to make a puzzle with me in it. I hope you guys like it. It is a simple puzzle to start with. Enjoy!

Garden Thursday

HiYa Ducky here with the garden report. The girls missed out on a really nice day yesterday. Mum got a little bit more work done clearing out all the icky stuff she doesn't want.

She has the gap between the two dogwoods purrty much cleaned out. Still a little bit to do but not much.

She cut off some of the higher branches of the volunteer trees that have to go. That helps her see how much more she needs to do.

This back corner still needs a good cut down. Most of this is woody stuff so she needs her big clippers to snip things off. Or maybe her saw.

The grape arbor has frozen and the leaves are falling off. Mum may just let this go until spring. Not as critical as the other part to get cleared off. She wants that nice enuf to get a fresh load of mulch put down.

Mum really enjoyed the nice day out yesterday. After she finished her chores she just sat there and enjoyed the day. Yeah, we all need time to just sit and relax a bit.

Mini-ManCat Monday

Here are two means of refuge from the misery of life -- music and cats. - Albert Schweitzer

Mum likes music so it plays in the house. Plus she has me!

When mum went out to pick up some stuff she went past a field that had been harvested in the past few weeks. Wowzaa, look at all those fevvers. Mum said there was hundreds of geese hanging out. Mum could tell that some grain, either corn or soybeans,  had been dumped in a big pile in the field. So they were coming by for snacks.

It may be hard to see in both the moovie and the still pic but we had a few snowflakes yesterday. Nothing stuck to the ground but still we don't want to see that stuff this early. Like last year when we had lots of snow that arrived on Hallow-weenie.

Me taking a break from sitting on mum who was watching the feetsball game and doing her crow-shay. She is a bit over half way done with the blankie.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - is back! Looking very much better like the team that started out the first four games. ARodge looked good again. Although mum gets irked with him when he tries to Hut Hut the other teams off sides and then runs out of time on the clock. Just hike the ball and play!

Quiet week ahead, mum's calendar is blank for this week. I am sure mum will find stuff to do.

Have a good week all.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Weekend! We might get a bit of sunshine today. It has been rainy and gloomy the past two days. We prefur sunshine!

All the rainy weather was not good for the new bird feeder pole. The ground got all soft and it started to lean over. That is not good. Mum went out and pushed it back to where it was straight and packed down the dirt again with her foot.

OK, that looks much better and mum put the heavy rock in front in the direction it wanted to lean. Mum says that once the ground freezes it will stay in place better. Otherwise she may have to find some cement mix to add to the hole.

So last night mum watched a little bit of college feetsball. Bucky Badger was playing in a very strange empty stadium. A few flat fans but not many. However they managed to beat the team from just south of the border. Good job. She worked on the latest crow-shay blankie for a bit. Plus she called and talked with Miss Lynn for a while.

So mum was also bizzy in the kitch-hen for a bit and made a big pot of tomato soup. Ahh, just the thing on cold days to warm her up inside.

Guess that is it for now. Mum is doing her chores and then when she sits I will sit on her some for for warms and cuddles. Have a wonderful weekend.

Garden Thursday

HiYa Ducky here. Welcome to Garden Thursday. Mum has tucked the girls away for the colder part of the year. That means I get to report what is going on outside for now.

So where to start. I guess here. Someone asked about our fancy amillary and the fact that the arrow was bent. Yep the sqwerls did it. You see the short tree trunk behind, well that is where it just fit, but yep it would get knocked off. So mum has just left it sit on the table.

Mum bought a new pole for hanging fevver feeders on. She got it all assembled and dug the hole to put it in the ground on Tuesday. It is still standing so mum must have done it right. We now have all of our usual winter feeders out now.

We have three poles up and they can hold 2 or three feeders, mum usually just has two per pole, but that can change if needed. Peanut feeder, the flat feeder with sunflower seeds, the tall mesh with sunflower seeds, seed cake, suet square and a large seed cake.

Here is another suet feeder with balls of suet, the woody pecker guys really like this one. Plus mum has two feeders with nyger seed in them for the finches.

Plus mum is trying something new, suet that is just put on the bark of the crabby apple tree like you see below. You can even see the marks where the fevvers have taken bits of it away.

So here is the container and to keep the sqwerls from eating all of this yummy stuff it has hot pepper in it so they leave it alone!

Here are some picks where mum spread some fresh stuff on the tree. Sort of the consistency of peanut butter.

Here is the open container. So you can see what it looks like. Mum bought two tubs of this over the summer to try, seems to be working so far.

Mum did a little bit of cutting down of stuff but still has work to do. Little by little she is getting it done. She figures she has about a month before it totally has to be done. Provided she doesn't do something like breaking something this year.

Oh and mum voted yesterday so that is done. We want everyone to get out and vote as well. We all need to have a say in those who lead us.

Tock-Tober Day

Yes, today is Tock-Tober Day. A day we use to amember my late, grate brofur Derby. He was never shy about showing his tocks. He was proud to show off his Ass-ets!

Why do we do our tocks today? Cuz today was (is) Derby's purrthday. He would have been 17 today. Gosh, an old man he would have been!

So these first few are Derby. He was a pretty decent sized mancat and he loved to be places that mum would prefer he not be. Like the kitch-hen counters! He loved to hang in the kitch-hen. One of his fav napping spots was the kitch-hen table as it had grate sun puddles.

Now a few of me. I am a bit shy so mum doesn't have as many tock shots of me as she does of Derby. I hope you like my tocks too.

So Happy Purrthday at The Bridge dearest Derby. We miss you.

Mini-ManCat Monday

... no wisdom that [my kitten] may gain by experience and reflection hereafter will compensate for the loss of her present hilarity. - William Cowper

All right, we made it to Monday again. Mum stayed home all weekend and only went outside to fill the fevver feeders. No shopping, no going out to eat. It was rainy and windy, so good days to stay inside with me, a book and a big cup of tea!

So what am I watching so intently. So much so I pushed my heated beddy over so I could get closer to the big windows that go to the floor.

I'm up on my feet, something outside has caught my eye!

Fevvers! Specifically what mum calls juncos. These little guys show up for the winter, they spend the summer way up north in Oh, Canada! They come down here cuz it isn't as cold, plus, heck mum puts out foods for them too.

Sorry mum, don't mean to ignore you!

Feetsball Report

The Pack - they played the late afternoon game so we had to listen to Joe and Troy. Mum gets tired to listening to them at times and yells at them to be quiet. It wasn't a good game and the Pack losted. So mum sorta tuned it out even though she still had the TV on to the game.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday.

It is supposed to be a very windy day so mum won't be working outside. She is making good progress little by little to get the yard and garden all ready to sleep for the winter. Yeah, the girls will be heading off to hibernation land really soon.

Mum got a nice shot of me in the sun yesterday morning. I had been just on the other side of the wall with one of my nip mousies. She wanted to get that pic but I moved on her!

Speaking of mousies, these came yesterday too. I love my fevver but mousies and mum said she got out the last of them from the toy cupboard last week. Woohoo. I love to have a good supply of my fav toys on hand.

In the same package mum also got me a new nip nanner, but that went in the toy cupboard since I have one that is still pretty good for now.

If I am not playing or bugging mum today I will be in my hammick by the heating spot staying warm.

Everyone have a good weekend!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. We had a couple of nice days with warmer weather and mum took advantage to continue to work clearing out the garden.

Leaves getting blown off the trees and into the water bath. Mum takes them out when she can but then the wind brings new ones right back in. Oh well, soon the leaves will be gone and that won't be an issue.

Here is the view of the garden that mum has worked really hard to get clean out. The far end still needs some work. There are a few trees that are growing in there and mum needs to cut them down. She is hoping the leaves come off soon, that will make it easier to see what she is doing. Also to work on all of the stuff right along the fence. To get this done took mum 7 days. Now she didn't work all day on those day. Usually about an hour to cut stuff down, then take that off to the compost pile. She is only allowed one trip a day to the compost pile. She likes the easy pace of not working for hours and hours and hours all on one day.

Since the weather is turning we are starting to see lots of fevvers coming back to the feeders. Fevvers that we haven't seen in months and months. Some are getting a snack before heading south, others will stick around all winter.

Red Bellied Woodpeck is above, and a pine siskin below. These guys will stick around for the winter too.

Yeah, it is about time for us to get tucked away for the winter. We know mum still has work to do outside so we need to snoopervise. She will get it done, but is taking her time.

Everyone stay healthy, safe, wear your masks and VOTE!

Mini-ManCat Monday

Confront a child, a puppy, and a kitten with a sudden danger; the child will turn instinctively for assistance, the puppy will grovel in abject submission. The kitten will brace its tiny body for a frantic resistance. - Saki

Yeah, we kits are brave! Take on any challenger, just watch us sometime.

Me and mum had a quiet weekend. The feral kit skipped a day but then came back overnight for foods. Mum wished it would come during the day and hold still long enuf to get a pic. Yeah right mum, you know those of us of the feline purr-suasion don't want to cooperate with you. Just deal with it.

Mum got out the blankies she had finished since late winter. These five will go off with the hats we showed you back on September 21. Mum has to keep bizzy doing something, crow-shay, reading a book. Mum has read 115 books this year so far and there is over two months to go this year. She just put in her order at the library for another stack to read.

Here is mum's newest blankie she started working on this past week. The colors are purrty.

Feetsball Report

The Pack had this week off so mum watched CrashCar instead of feetsball. She hadn't seen them race on the roval before. Plus for the first time they raced with tires with tread on them so they could race in the wet. The trick is when to switch back to the usual racing tires with no tread, some did guess right. Mum's racy group has always raced rain or shine.

So that is what is going on here. More of the same this week but the weather isn't going to be as nice this week. A few showers and not as warm either.

Have a good week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! We all made it to Caturday and we had a marvy week since the weather was so nice. That meant I got open windows all week long!

Now to update on our visiting kitty. Mum has decided that it is a small, but adult, very feral cat. Last night mum heard noise outside and turned the outside light one. The cat froze in its tracks for a minute and then scrammed. Mum wasn't even outside! I was just sitting in the door letting the kitty know things are OK in here.

Mum had seen a post on one of the local social media things that they were seeing three cats one of which seems like our kit, but they didn't post any pictures.

Mum had put the food dish down on the ground, but then unless she was sitting in the reading chair she couldn't see if someone visited.

So then she moved it up to the arm of the chair where she could see it even if  she was sitting in the other room. Plus you can see me sitting waiting for a visit. This was after it got dark.

The food dish was full when mum got up this morning, so didn't come back overnight. Mum isn't sure if she will keep putting foods out or not. I am willing to share but she wants to make sure she isn't feeding the mousies. We don't need mousies in the house.

Mum finished the blankie she was working on the other day. So here are a couple of pics. One of the whole blankie and a closeup of the blankie yarn colors. Mum plans to go drop off the hats this week at the food pantry.

Plus it is Pet Obesity Day. Now I am a fit and trim nine pounds, but when I was at the shelter there was a cat called Meatball and he weighed nearly 30 pounds. Whoa! I hope he got a good home that could help him lose some of that excess.

So everyone have a wonderful weekend.
