Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Hope all of my Mericky furiends will be enjoying the long weekend. Sending lots and lots of  purrs to all on Florida and any place the hurry-cane might be affecting. Be safe everyone.
Mum did lots and lots of work outside the past few days, so now she is going to rest up on the weekend. Read some, maybe crow-shay too. She is going well with her hat things.
Lately this is where I like to sleep at night, right on top of where mum puts her head at night. Sometimes I take up way more space that she does on the pillow, and at times she shifts to the other pillow, but then so do I. MOL!

Remember mum got this a few weeks ago. Well, I resemble that don't I? I think that is why mum got it. I usually sleep all curled up, but my tail isn't quite that long.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend gang.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. The weather has been really nice, so mum has been bizzy doing lots of stuff outside.

First she took some bags of dirt to fill in some low spots in the yard. She was tired of stepping in the holes. Then she added grass seed but so far no new actual grass.

Then she has been working on the never ending weeds and cutting off branches on trees that like to grow up in our back fence. Mum sure wishes she could get them deaded so they don't grow back.
But with all of this she has a huge pile of stuff to haul off. She hasn't hauled the stuff to the compost pile in a while, so this will take a few trips to get rid of.
She did get out to the community garden this week. Working on harvesting, tomato, carrots, eggplant and a cucumber.Lots more carrots but waiting for them to get a bit bigger.

Onions getting dried off in the sun and lots of green beans to eat, they are still going strong.

The old netting for the peas, they are done for this year. Mum took down the netting and the posts so they can be stored for next year. Do you spy that orinch thing below? That is a pumpkin and there are two more that haven't started to turn orinch.
This is the group that had the broccoli in the back gone and the middle row are brussel sprouts that aren't producing sprouts at all. They look more like cabbage that hasn't done anything either. So that was a big miss. The garden is winding down now.
So that is all for this week. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

To err is human, To purr is feline. - Robert Byrne

I purred lots this weekend as mum was seated working on hats. Yes, more hats but these are for big people from the yarn that Auntie Trish sent. Caturday mum got one hat done and another started afore she went to the sleeping spot. She got a couple more done on Sunday while watching the moving picture box.

Plus mum brought these two boxes up from dungeon. Said she needs to double check if she wants to keep anything. Otherwise she knows someone who might want the stuff. Mum would be happy to have a few more things cleared out of the house.
It was a super nice weekend here with lots of open windows, no fans running and listening to the crickets as we fall asleep.

Have a good week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Things have been interesting around here. Mum came home the other day smelling of other kitties and yesterday I saw her consorting with a woofie along the trail! The horrors!
Mum went to meet these two cats, Dakota on top, Orca below. Seems she will be cat sitting for them next month while the humans are out of town. Just for a weekend and their mom is one of my care givers for when mum was gone last year. Orca is three and Dakota just six months. Mum says she will be getting better pics when she visits them next month.
Mum got a box in the mail yesterday from Auntie Trish of Katnip Lounge. It was filled will all sorts of yarns. Mum hopes to make some hats for bigger peoples from this.
Auntie Trish loves me even though she has never met in the fur, but she sent smoochies to me. I send them right back at ya Auntie T.
All sorts of colors to use, about enough to make one hat from each color. Mum will get started on this when she can, she needs to spend more time outside working in the yard.
Yes mum, I see the goodies, so put them down so I can come and sit in your lap. I know you are tired from all of the weed pulling and tree pruning with more to do. Just don't hang around with those woofies.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. We are supposed to have more really nice weather.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. Not much going on this week. Mum skipped going to the community garden this week. Said she needed a week off and do some other stuff.

Mum picked all of the eggy plants that was on the plant. You can see the lighter stuff that never seemed to get ripe and purple. Mum ate the few on the table for dinner the other night. The rest she cut open and they were really seedy, so not good to eat. She sees new blossoms on the plant, so maybe she will get a few more to eat this summer.
We also spied this interloper inside the other day, no update from mum or Ducky.
That is it for this week. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

Cats are a mysterious kind of folk -- there is more passing in their minds than we are aware of. - Sir Walter Scott

Yeah, we cats do think more than just treats, toys and foods. Some of what is going on these days is weird and we wish it wasn't.

Hat update. Mum is done making hats for this year. She set a goal for herself to make 214 hats and she actually did 215 since she had enuf yarn for one last hat. Why 214? Well she started making hats on March 1 and it is 214 days until the last day of the program on September 30. So she figured if she did a hat a day she could make it. Well, knowing mum some days she made more than one, so hit her goal early. You saw the stash of new stuff she bought, she will be happy to not be making everything with purple!
Mum is giving herself a bit of a break from doing crow-shay, reading books, doing work outside, running around seeing people and such. Last week she had two picnics and a volunteer appreciation lunch. Plus meeting a furiend for lunch. She wasn't around much!
Plus she has been shopping for a little table to sit between the two new chairs. This is to hold the remotes which she needs from both chairs, depending on which one she is sitting in. Plus the remote for the fan and her phone. She had to put it together, but it fits just like she hoped it would.
So I promised on Caturday a few final pictures of hats. Mum pulled a fast one one me showing me one of the last hats she finished.
Yes, she managed to slip it over my head and it is so big it covers my entire head. I don't like not being able to see where things are.

I managed to shake it off really quick and she better not try to do this to me again. If she does she is likely to get a bitey put on her!
Happy week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Me and mum are going to have a quiet weekend, she is even staying home from a racy thing. She doesn't care for the group that runs the event.

Also Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day to all of my furiends who are a black cat. But remember one thing my furiends.....

Orinch is the new black!
Plus mum will have hat pictures on Monday that you won't want to miss. Happy Weekend to you all

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. A few pics from our own garden to start. The oriental lily, all bright and orinch! The best color to be around here.
Then lots of our coneflowers. When mum bought them they were advertised as white, we now have some stems that bloom white, others purple. Either way they are purrty. Plus the inside design of the flower is cool if you look at the pattern on them.

At the community garden yesterday mum left the house and it was dry, then showers hit on the way there. So she picked peas and beans in light rain showers. The other lady started to harvest the tomatoes and cucumbers. Plus they noticed the broccoli heads were gone and it looked like someone had cut them off.

That is all from the garden this week. Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

Even if you have just destroyed a Ming vase, purr. Usually all will be forgiven. - Lenny Rubenstein

Umm, I don't think I have destroyed anything while I have been here. I am a good kittie. However I do remember being told by Derby that mum threatened him with caticide for breaking her Galileo thermometer. You can read all about his exploits here!

Me and mum had a quiet weekend. She did go out to eat on Caturday with Miss Lynn. They went to a place they hadn't been to in a while. She brought chick-hen home as leftovers. Yum. We haven't eaten them yet. Mum didn't want to eat chick-hen two days in a row. I don't know why not mum, it is good for me, I mean you.
Don't hold your breath on seeing me in a finished hat. Mum has tried to get a pic with me in a hat many times. She has failed and will continue to fail, cuz I don't want to wear a hat.

Happy week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday, Happy Weekend. Ours is starting out nice, the weather is good, the windows are open. It will be warmish today and maybe some rain showers.
Early morning, the best place to be is in the front windows. Taking advantage of the gentle breezes and the sun puddles that will come. Put away the flashy box, you are disturbing my nap.
Mum went on an expedition Friday to a bigger yarn shop and this is what she came home with. The brown stuff will go good with our new chairs, the colorful stuff will go good with the chairs too! MOL! Mum always likes the colorful stuff. She likes this store as it has more colors in stock so she can see them in purr-son. She doesn't like to buy stuff she hasn't seen.
So she will start working on this stuff once she finishes the hats. She is down to this last thingy of yarn, then she is done with purple hats. She will have met her self imposed quota.
So you all want to see me with a hat on, well the hat is just started, so really doesn't cover my head. I am OK with that. Looks like a yamaka, no mum says it is spelled yarmulke. Maybe I am a Jewish cat? Oy!
You all have a wonderful weekend me and mum are planning on having one too.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. A full week into August, still warm but not super hot so that is good. We got rain, but not nasty storms this past week. The nasty weather is staying up north.

Mum picked all of the ripe eggy-plants. Now she likes this stuff but not this much. So she saved a few for herself and donated the rest to the food pantry. Still a few ripening on the plant, but not many more. Plus mum is not seeing any new blossoms, so not sure if we will get more later.

The community garden was easy again this week. Water and harvest. It was only mum and one other person who she likes to work with. So that made it a good day to work and only 2 hours of her time.

Even the grass is beginning to grow slower, so mum doesn't have to mow the lawn every week.

That is all. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

Catnip is vodka and whisky to most cats. - Carl Van Vechten

Yeah, well, we all need to have a vice or two. I won't tell you what mum's vices are, well, one is chocolate!

We had a quiet weekend. Mum worked on making hats, she is almost done making as many hats as she challenged herself to do. So she is starting to think what her big winter project will be.

The pickles turned out fine. Mum had some last night with her dinner and put them and some of the onjuns on her burger..

Me, I had lots of naps. Have a good week everyone.
