Garden Thursday - Hollow-Weenie Edition

Trick or Treat! We only want treats, so you better not  play tricks on us!

Mum had the last official community garden work yesterday. They dug up some dahlia bulbs and tried to spread some mulch around. The only pic mum took was of the mulch pile just before she headed home. So they will still have mulch to work on next spring.
Yes, we had some of that white stuff from the sky the other day and will be getting more today. Mum says that will make trick or treat tonight interesting. How many kids will actually come out in the snow and cold.
This all melted but somewhere between 2-5 inches is expected today. Ick, too early even if we know it will melt.
We have one flowering plant still going, our wavy pet-unia. One of these days it will freeze and stop blooming, but until it does, mum is just leaving it be.
The tree across the street is now turning yellow and dropping lots of leaves on the ground and roof, they will take care of them. The guy that lives there is good about keeping up with the lawn and leaves.
Mum discovered the other day that there is a broken branch in the ash tree in front. Too high for her to get at even with her long pole saw. So she may have to get the tree guy to come and help out on this one.

Have a safe Hollow-Weenie. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

Cats do care: For example, they know instinctively what time we have to be at work in the morning and they wake us up twenty minutes before the alarm goes off. - Michael Nelson

Mum doesn't have to get up to work anymore, so if I wake her up she just rolls over and goes back to sleep. Rarely does she set the noisy box by the bed anymore to get up her. She says she gets up when the sun does and at this time of the year that is getting later!

Mum went shopping  yesterday and came home with this. She found it at the same place she found Virginger and other Squillions way back when.

I'm not too sure about this thing. Mum put it up by the ticky-tock clock for now.

Sportz Report

The Pack - went on the road to KC andBBQ'd those chief guys. ARodg did his usual good job. Mum caught that he had a QB rating of 150.0 for the last two games. Purrfect is 153.8. Next week the Pack is off to the left coast to play the Bolts.

Bucky Badger - lost for the second straight weekend to the O-HI-o guys. They get next weekend off to rest.

World Series - mum watched a bit of the game on Caturday night. Otherwise she just checks the score and goes back to what she was watching. The Pack was on SNF, so on at the same time.

It is going to be cold around here this week. They are even talking about the white stuff coming from the sky! Whoa. Trick or treat is going to be cold this week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. It has gotten colder here, so much that the grass was all frostly. Mum says the flowers are pretty much done blooming.

So she has had a bizzy week, mostly going out to eat meals with people. Did she bring stuff back for me? No, said she ate it all at the place or it wasn't suitable for me to eat. Spicy and such.

Me in the other chair with the crow-shay piled up here. Her latest project, making a lap blankie to give away. She made the final turn last night so it won't be long until it is done.
Mum went to the library for a talk on ghosts the other night. She was disappointed, the guy didn't actually show ghost pics, just talked about places he has been that he says have ghosts. Mum really wanted to see ghost pics.
One of the people mum went to eat with was the lady who had the cats, Orca and Dakota, who mum cat sat last month. She gave mum these neat earrings for helping. They are coppery and have a native American design. I like them too, I like to swat at them.

So that is it, everyone have a good weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. The days are getting much shorter. The sun rises after 7 AM and sets before 6 PM. In less than two weeks the hour in the clock will come back.

Mum picked the last of the eggyplants and she grilled them out side with a burger and then had a nice little dinner.

Some pics from yesterday morning. Mum showing the trees and how many leaves that are still on the trees. Mum looked last year and more leaves were off the tree by now. Plus you can see all the leaves on the ground.

Leaves just piled up on the drive and the front porch. Mum got out the blower and cleared them off.
So mum had some stuff to do right after lunch but when she got home she got out the grass eater. Leveled off the grass and chewed up the leaves.

The tree across the street, still has most of its leaves as of now.

So that is the end of today's report! Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

Cats don't mind sharing the bed with fellow cats, as long as the area is equitably divided among them. Usually there is room for everyone on a first-come-first-served basis - under the blanket, on top of the blanket, on the pillow, under the pillow, at the head of the bed, at the foot of the bed, in that order. Any space left over goes to the owner. - Stephen Baker

In bed, it is mum, me and a big teddy bear she uses as a body pillow. I sleep where I want, on the bed, under the covers, or on top of mum. Depends on how much of  her warms I want to soak up.

I know I haven't see all the tock shots that got posted, but want to thank all who participated to cellybrate and honor Angel Derby. It means a lot to me and mum.

Mum did some outside chores yesterday once the feetsball game was done. She backed out the metal monster, changed the burned out light bulb in the opener, found out the second bulb was just loose. Swept out the grass and brake dust. Then she got the snow eater started. It took a few times until it would keep running. She will check it again in a few weeks.

Mum worked on her blankie during the game.  At first I was napping in the sun puddle, then moved to the other chair, contemplating if I should whap the yarn to the floor, then on to her lap.
The only thing with these balls they aren't round so they don't roll around much. I don't like that.
Me under the blankie, nice and warm under here. Plus I get to be sitting on mum.
Yes mum, I see you, now just get back to your crow-shay and let me nap!

Sportz Report

The Pack - scored early often and managed to keep the other guys away from the end zone many times. Even a funky play where the other QB fumbled the ball right on the goal line, it went into the end zone, then out of bounds. So that meant the balls was The Pack. ARodg was purrfect, or at least he had a purrfect QB rating. First time he has done this, mum says she is glad she doesn't have to figure this out, at least not in her head. ARodg has now thrown for 350 touchdowns and ran for 29!

Bucky Badger - mum was bizzy doing other stuff but glad she didn't watch. They losted in the last few seconds and to a team they really shouldn't have losted too.

World Series - The Nats and The Stros. Mum doesn't care who wins. She was happy the Yankees aren't playing!

Tocks for Angel Derby

A few of Derby's tocks! He would have been 16 today if he was still around. Plus you can see he loved walking on the kitch-hen counters! Mum gave up trying to keep him off.

A few my my cute tocks too!

Happy Tock-Tober!

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! Woohoo the weekend is here. It is Angel Derby's purrthday tomorrow, so it will be a day to show us your tocks. So stop by to see my tocks for this year!

Answering a few questions.

Eastside Cats - yes, she has to put in volunteer hours for her Master Gardener thing. She has to get a minimum of 25 volunteer hours AND do at least 10 hours of continuing education each year. That is part of the thing that they help teach and train others about good garden stuff.

Timmy Tomcat - have your beans check for local county stuff. I don't know where you live but many counties have this stuff. I don't know where you live, but maybe mum could help you research. Email me at duckycat at wi.rr.com.

But even so, mum feels it is important to give back to the community where we live. So that is why she helps at the library and food panty too. Plus making warm hats and blankies for those who might need a little something extra.
Mum got a new toy this week, something that winds up yarn into cakes, not balls of yarn that mum will do by hand. It isn't good for me as these cake things don't roll around like a ball of yarn would. That means it isn't fun to play with it! Bummer.
If I don't have yarn to play with then I will just take a nice long nape.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday.

We have had a couple of frosty mornings. Not enuf to kill the plants but enuf cold to make the house roofs all white. Picture is taken through the screen on the window, so it looks a bit wonky.
Mum counted five small eggy plants growing, if slowlly. So she thinks she will have enuf for a decent meal.

Mum did a garden presentation yesterday. She went and talked to a senior group about trees and how they are colorful. Leaves, flowers, fruit and bark. She only had four people come, but hey, she gets to count the hours as time volunteered.

Mum is going to have to start with the final garden cleanup soon. Plants to cut down and haul off. She says she wants a nice day and not a windy day if she can.

That is all for this week. Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Tuesday This and That

It was rainy, then sunny, now back to clouds. Mum did go out a couple of time earlier. Get her head furs cut and take all her accumulated hats and other crow-shays to the food pantry for them to hand out when they can.
Here is the big bag with the littler ones inside. The inside ones keep the sizes apart
 Men's hats.
 Kid's hats.
Lady hat's, plus a couple of scarves.
Then three blankies, two that have been hanging out in the closet since she finished them and the one she was working on and finished this past week.
Don't worry, she has a new blankie she is working on plus a new toy! A yarn winder.

So the big ball of yarn, goes from this, gets spun around this.
And ends up like this! Wow, now she doesn't have to do all that winding by hand, it is so much faster.
But mum says she will read a bit afore she goes back to her crow-shay.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - they snatched a victory from the jaws of defeet last night. The kicker guy did his thing and made a field goal so they won by one point. Then he went and did a Lambeau Leap!

ManCat Monday

A man has to work so hard so that something of his personality stays alive. A tomcat has it so easy, he has only to spray and his presence is there for years on rainy days. - Albert Einsten

MOL, not all of us spray you know, but we stay alive in our human's memory. Mum often thinks of so many cats at The Bridge, their humans too.

Mum survived her cold morning  helping at the run. She was gone from the house about 2 hours. Showed up in time to get set up, then to wait until the runners actually passed their water station, then looped back around and come by again.  Mum filled cups with water from the big blue jugs, others handed them out. They didn't hand much out since it wasn't a warm day.
The rest of the crew and the leader, a guy on a bicycle showing the route, the first runner, not far behind.

The first runner and then runners going back to the start/finish line.
 Moovies!

Sportz Report

The Pack doesn't play until tonight against those lion guys.

Bucky Badger - unbeaten and pitched another shut out beating Michigan State. So far Bucky has play 3 teams from the mitten state and beaten them all. Matter of fact two of those teams didn't even scored a point. So Wisconsin 134 - Mitten State 14

Basey Ball - in the playoffs and mum is at the Ho-Hum stage. She doesn't really care who wins, but she does watch at least some of the games.

So everyone have a good week and Go Pack Go tonight.
