Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday.

We have had a couple of frosty mornings. Not enuf to kill the plants but enuf cold to make the house roofs all white. Picture is taken through the screen on the window, so it looks a bit wonky.
Mum counted five small eggy plants growing, if slowlly. So she thinks she will have enuf for a decent meal.

Mum did a garden presentation yesterday. She went and talked to a senior group about trees and how they are colorful. Leaves, flowers, fruit and bark. She only had four people come, but hey, she gets to count the hours as time volunteered.

Mum is going to have to start with the final garden cleanup soon. Plants to cut down and haul off. She says she wants a nice day and not a windy day if she can.

That is all for this week. Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

  1. We've been doing lotsa planting here - trying to get the irises in the ground.

  2. Yes, it's all go in the garden now before winter arrives.
I have been taking all of my pots into the greenhouse and tenderest plants into the garage. Doing it early this year but we are off to Norway hoping to see the Northern Lights. Three inches of snow and 25F forecast so lots of fleeces and furry boots!

  3. Does she have to have volunteer hours for a reason, Ducky? I just realized that I gave 8 hours of volunteer time last week...building feral cat shelters...and my company lets us keep track of them. Now, I have to figure out how to do that; stoopey websites...

  4. Some of our trees are just beginning to turn. We know our mom will be out trying to see more any day now. When we had a frosty morning last week, we couldn't see if the roofs got coated--all our roofs are flat here (and white, too!).

  7. Although your mum only had a small audience, I hope she felt that her efforts were worthwhile and appreciated. Sometimes those smaller groups can be really wonderful as it means that people feel more free to ask questions.

  8. We wish our township center had garden and/or plant talks. Dad is going to start gardening in the spring when we have our new cat fenced area and knows nothing. Maybe next year they will have someone talk. Purrs
