Caturday

HiYa Ducky here, Happy Caturday. My day is starting out just marvy. Mum got up and opened the windows so I can enjoy our beauty-full sunny day. I am planted on my perch in the front window.

Mum is all bummed about the jelly feeders for the orioles. She bought them online through a local store, so didn't see them first. Well, not working out well. The cups are a thin glass and break. Yesterday the feeder was down in the grass. Why? The hanging hook came out of the wood, another cup broke.
So here is what it should be, and you can see the cups. Glass, not good, they stick in the holes.
Mum seeing the feeder down on the ground.
The hook, all hanging and not attached like it should. Mum first thought maybe the raccoons had knocked it down, but no.
Mum carefully got all of the broked glass out from the grass. Mum doesn't walk barefoot outside so no worry on cut feets.
Mum set the feeder down on the table outside, she got some other plastic cups and put those out for the birdies so they had their foods
Mum had already ordered new feeders to come earlier in the week. The order arrived but only one feeder, mum had ordered two. She complained but rather than ship the second one, they just gave her a refund. Mum was out shopping again this morning and ordered another one of these plus a different one.
Me inspecting one of the old feeders. Mum took it apart to see if she can modify it to accept the old plastic cups from the old feeder.
Me enjoying the open window and sunshine. Hope you all have a good day too.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday.

Currently blooming, lilacs, bleeding hearts and lily of the valley. The grape arbor is still living and leafing out more. The grass is pretty green. All of our trees now show leaves.

Mum keeps walking over to the lilac and inhaling. She loves the smell of lilacs.

It got warm here and steamy too. Mum used the grass eater this week.

Oh yeah, no community garden for mum for now. Officially she doesn't have to have volunteer hours cuz of the virus thingy. The peoples are doing the garden, mum just doesn't feel comfortable going and working as the footing isn't the best. She isn't going to do anything to mess up her ankle.

Oh yeah, we also have a birdie nesting on our front porch light. Two eggs laid this week. Mum hasn't ever seen an adult bird on the nest, but she doesn't know if the sound of the door scares them off. Even if she goes out through the metal monster door, no big birdies. We shall see if we get little ones. We are already seeing fledgling robins from the first batch of babies.

That is all. Stay safe, stay healthy. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! For those of us in Mericky it is a long weekend, although with mum being retired it doesn't matter. Other than special things happen but not this year. No parades and such so people can stay safe.

Dan the handy guy stopped by yesterday to measure for a couple of doors. He didn't need to come into the house, just to make sure mum orders the correct size doors to replace the ones we have now. Going to get new storm/screen doors soon.

Spring is slowly getting here. Mum can finally begin to see the crabby apple blooms! Plus the naybors cherry tree in bloom. Mum says stuff is way late this year.

Mum tried to catch up with a couple of recorded shows. This one was on eagles. Those big birds can fly pretty well. Here are Mr and Mrs Bald Eagle.
Mum got a new cooking pot, I had to check out the box. Nice one mum. Do you think she has enuf shoes?
Everyone had a good weekend.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. We had three days of rain and gloom from Sunday to Tuesday. We had so much rain there is a small pond yet on the other side of the trail. Mum is enjoying seeing the little kids over there splashing around in their boots and such. Although she is waiting for a splash when someone falls!
The alli-yums are making progress to bloom. Things are super slow this spring. The crabby apple tree hasn't bloomed yet. The lilacs haven't bloomed and some trees aren't showing leaves yet either! Mum says we are 2-3 weeks behind.

They finally came to pick up our brush piles. Took mum a long time to get it all out there, it was all picked up in about 5 minutes! Mum is happy she didn't have to haul it all out.
Mum put down some fresh dirt and grass seed in the front of the house where the grass is kinda thin. She even roped the area off so the man in the blue shorts doesn't walk here. They like to take short cuts across the lawn.
The old bird feeder pole rusted off and fell over this week. Mum said that is pretty good as she got 17 years of use from it. She is trying to figure out if she will replace this or just go with the ones she has left. Since this isn't the main birdie feeding time she has time to figure it out.
So we are expecting to have continued sunny days. Mum is looking forward to being able to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Stay safe, stay healthy.  Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Mini-ManCat Monday

The phrase 'domestic cat' is an oxymoron. - George Will

Domestic? I am king of my domain! Don't you forget it!
Caturday was pretty good. Sunday was rain, rain, rain. Mum watched some video and she even watched some of the crashcar race and a live horsie race. Woohoo. live sports.

Mum also got good news, her haircut lady can start working again so mum will get her hair cut this week. She is happy.

That is about it for now.

Stay home, stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. The day is starting off nice and sunny. Yesterday was really nice with the windows all wide open. Gentle breezes and all. Today isn't going to be as nice, so windows won't be so wide open.

So while I was enjoying the front window I could see some of the robins flying about the front of the house. Very often and carrying strips of deaded grass and such.
Mum noticed when she went to check the mail box that there was deaded grass up on the ledge.
Mum looked up and saw that the robins had built a nest on top of the light fixture! Whoa. Mum better not turn on that light for long, she could start a fire! Some of the grass is inside the fixture right by the light.

Mum got on her tippy toes and stretched out her arm to get a pic inside the nest. So far no eggs but mum said none of this was there the day before. Those little birdies worked fast.
Not sure how this will work out. Birdies will be disturbed when they dropped the mail off and when mum gets the mail. So we shall see. The top thing of the light has been pushed away from where it should be. The roof overhang keeps it from getting rained on.

We will keep you posted on what happens.

Otherwise me and mum are planning a quiet weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. Things are looking up. Lots of sun and the weather guessers are saying it is  going to be really nice next week.

OK, one note about the snow Ducky reported on, it was just flurries in the air. Nothing stuck to the ground. Nothing to shovel. But yeah, little white things flying around in the air.

Mum found some seeds so she got the dirt ready and put them into the planter. Hopefully we will have some flowers later in the year. We hope so. The seeds were supposed to be for last year, but mum says they might grow anyway. They don't know what year it is.
Can you spot the baby lily of the valley flowers? We can.
The pee-o-knees are really getting tall. Mum adjusted them so they are mostly inside the support cages. The hiya-cinths are about done blooming.
The lilac blooms are pushing out more too. Not long before we will have some nice smells around the yard.
It was very windy when mum took these pics. Do you see the bee hanging on to the plant? Too windy for him to fly.
Things are looking pretty good around here, happy to have a nice sunny day. Rain coming in for Thursday!

Stay home, stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy.

Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Mini-ManCat Monday

Cats are designated friends. - Norman Corwin

You gotta furiend in me, yep you do. We all need furiends, lots and lots of them. We help each other keep our spirits up and share our sadness. Hugs to all of you.

We had a wet and cold Sunday, we even saw more snowflakes. For goodness sake, go away winter! The weather guesser said the other day we have had snow in eight consecutive months! Every month since October, like Hallo-weenie time.
Since it has been so cold outside, heck the heaty monster is still running. I spend lots of time here in my heated cat cup. Keeps me nice and toasty.
Mum can go and pick up another batch of stuff from the library today. She will have a new stash of books to read. She got through the moovies and books from the last batch, so this time she got a few more books to read this time. She won't know when they are due back until she gets them. Everything else has had an extended due date.

Mum figures she will need to get the grass eater again soon. She thinks she got all the branches pruned and out for pickup.

So that is about all for now. Have a wonderful week.

Stay home, stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. BRRRRRR. It is cold here this morning, all frosty outside and such. Heck we even saw some white flakes coming down yesterday.

Something the girls forgot to mention on Thursday. It was Derby's Gotcha Day on May 7. So Happy Gotcha Day Derbs, we miss ya. This would have been his 15th Gotcha Day.

I have been doing my usual inside stuff. Snoopervising mum while she is inside, but she has been doing lots outside too the past few days.
Mum with the latest colors for making hats. Some she  has done all of just one color, the last few she has been making them two toned. Using up all of her old yarns.
After mum did her outside work yesterday she called out to one of our local establishments and got us a fishy fry. Oh yumm. You bet she shared this with me and I even have proof of getting some of the good stuff.
Mum  has a bit more work to finish outside today. She has been cutting things out of trees and such. I don't want to steal the thunder of the girls for next weeks post, so I won't say more.

Everyone have a good weekend.

Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. Hope all of you are well. We had a beauty-full weekend, nice and warm, sunny. A few cloudy days since but the weather guesser says it is going to be cold this weekend with frostiness.

The two-lips are blooming. We don't have many two-lips these days. Mum says she will buy more bulbs in the fall to plant for next year.
The hostas are coming up really nice as well. Looking good and giving a nice bright green touch to the front of the house. Mum also spied that the lily of the valley plants survived and are coming up.
The maple tree across the street is already getting real leaves on it. Another spot of green.
A corner of the lawn, all freshly mowed on Monday. This was where the snow got all piled up and it looked pretty rough in March. Looks good now.
The brush pile by the metal monster room. All of this and more mum will have to get carried out to near the street for pickup next week. Gotta have it out by Sunday. Mum was inspecting the crabby apple tree and can see some deaded stuff to add. Plus the grape arbor needs serious work.
Plus the lilac bush in front is showing baby flowers. Mum can't wait until they open. She loves the smell of them. AHHH.
Some of our late spring birdies are showing up. Made it here last Caturday. The Baltimore Oriole and the Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Mum actually saw the females first early in the day, then the boys showed up.

Miss Megan, yes you have Cinco de Mayo (aka Stinky Mayo Day) where you are. It is just the 5th of May in Spanish. Now it gets cellybrated here cuz we are close to Mexico where it commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867).  It’s a holiday not celebrated much in Mexico though…but here in the U.S., it’s become an excuse for the day to eat Mexican foods and drink lots of marg-a-ritas! Ole!

That is all from the garden this week. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Happy Stinky Mayo Day

Yeah it is a drinking holly-day mum says and she will have one of those marg-a-rita things with dinner. She made a small container of them the other day. All she will have to do is pour over ice!
Mixed messages with dinner. Leftovers of the chinese she made the other day. Hmmm.
Yep, mum just lets the Hollow-weenie sign up all the time. She doesn't really  have a place to store it good. She now says the bottom should just read monster, singular, as she bought it when Derby was still around. Hmph. You think I am a monster. Just wait lady, that might come true!

Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.
