Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to the garden. The hots have left for now, but we had multiple rounds of rain, some wind, lightning. Places nearby had it much worse, they had tornados.
This pic was from last week but this week it was up to 3.5 inches this week so far. Thankfully no floods here in our yard, but not to far away rivers are out of there banks. Mum went to get her head fur trimmed yesterday and she could tell lots of retention ponds were full if not overfull. So no real flower pics, they have been drowned!
Mum says we can do the final report on the library program. They finished off the full 88 piano keys as of August 13. Mum says that was 76 days, but with Sunday and holidays it was actually open only 64 days. So that mean for every day 1,375 books per day. That is purrty good.
So that is our report for now. See you soon.

ManCat Monday

The cat remains the friend of man because it pleases him to do so and not because he must.

Well I do love the food service around here, so maybe I shall stick around.

Me and mum didn't do much this weekend other than the usual stuff of laundry and foods shopping. Otherwise mum readed a book, finished one, started another. I thinks she is going to set a record for her for books read in one year.
The hots came back, then we had some thunder boomers and it got really dark like night when it wasn't night yet. The worst of the storm went well north of us.

Have a good week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here, Happy Caturday. Right now it is a slow morning for mum and me. Cloudy and a bit cool. We didn't get much rain yesterday and that was good. Mad town had too much rain and they need time to dry out.

Mum and I had a good play time even afor she got out of bed this AM. I had jumped on the bed and I was getting belleh rubs, but then I would attack mum's hand. Grab it with my paws and put some gentle love bites on her. She just smiles and me and reminds me I gotta be gentle or I will hurt her feeding hand! I don't want to do that!
So me and mum will just hang out today. The hots are supposed to come back, so we will try to stay cool. Mum has books to read and she started a new crow-shay project that will go into the winter.

Happy weekend everyone!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome Back to The Garden this week.

The sqwerls planted a sunflower for us near the house. It bloomed this past week and when it opened up it was funky in that a portion of the petals were gone. That is the way  it was. When mum took the first pic there was even a bumbly bee checking it out.

Mum took some close up pics of the center and you can see a really nice pattern. There is so much beauty in nature.
We had lots and lots of rain so the flower looks a bit shabby now. And how much rain did we have?
Over four inches! Not as bad as near MadTown, some places had over a foot of rain. Mum checked with the naybor, they had this much too. Guess we were lucky on the rain that night.
That is all for this week, hope you enjoyed the pics. See you next week.

ManCat Monday

A cat will lie the whole evening on your knee, purring and happy in your society... - Theophile Gautier

I loves to sit on mum and just chill. She can read her books, or crow-shay or watch the moving picture box. We just hang out together.

Mum is saying we will have a quiet week this week, unlike last week where she had so much going on. She is going out for lunch only once this week, no meetings and just a few errands. Should be a nice week.

Hope the rest of you have a wonderful week.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Things are getting off to a good start, the sun is shining, mum is out of bed and I am just chilling.
Mum finished making her purple hats, at least for now. She has made over 30 hats for babies in the Click for Babies thing to help prevent infant abuse. Me, I just like playing with the leftover yarn!

Mum was out shopping and got some fancy ear bobs to wear to her nephew's wedding in a few months. She found a good dress, now her ears will be all fancy too. I wanted to play with them but mum took them away and put them in a safe place. Mum says the place she got them was going out of bizzness so they were not super expensive!
Otherwise not much going on around here. Me and mum will chill today. Well I will chill, I have no idea of what mum will be getting into today.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to the garden. We are dealing with an introoder to our lovely space. A woodchuck, ground hog or whistle pig. All the same rodent!
A sort of fuzzy pic as he ran into the grassy part of the back yard, he had been up on the patio. Mum got out her zoomer lens and got a closer pic. Then he ran off.
So these little critters are known for their digging so mum checked and yep she found where it had tried to dig next to the house. Now cuz we had the dungeon walls done that is all rock just under the dirt so it didn't go far.
The corner right by the back of the patio and behind the air chilling thing.

Then a few feet away where mum has one of her chairs and some old garbage cans sitting. She will keep an eye on other places in the yard. She may not find them until fall when the plants all start to die off. What she has to be careful of is not stepping in a hole they might dig.
Something pretty from the garden, our majic lilies that bloom long after the leaves go away. The naybor calls the naked ladies. They aren't ladies, and they are just fine being naked.
That is all for this week from the garden, see you soon.

ManCat Monday

If you, Like me, Were made of fur, And sun warmed you, Like me, You'd purr. - Karla Kuskin

Yeah, when mum is happy she almost purrs. A comfy bed, a good meal and yes being warmed by the sun.

A final update from the library summer reading program. Mum made a suggestion that they keep the piano keyboard going until they get all 88 keys up. So as of the end of the official program they had nearly 77 thousand books checked out or renewed. As of last Wednesday when mum took this they had 83 keys up. That is a whole lot of books!

Me on the move from the little table to the chair. The chair is now free for me as mum switched the fans around. I like that, I have another place to sit.
We had a nice weekend. Mum did get up in the middle of the night and go outside to watch for meteors and she did see some. Not lots as she said the sky was a bit hazy, the weather guessers said there was smoke from fires in Canada in the air. But mum could see stars so she sat outside for a bit more than an hour. I kept an eye on her from inside. Then she slept late and took a nice nap in the afternoon.

So I hope all of you got a good nap or two in this weekend. Plus have a wonderful week!

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Me and mum are up and enjoying the nice fresh airs. It has been nice for a few days so that means open windows for us which we both love.
Mum caught me enjoying the sunshine and giving myself a bit of a clean up. Thankfully she didn't use the pic of me cleaning my nether region!

Not 100% sure what all will happen today. I am sure mum will do a bit of reading, maybe a bit of outside work too since it is so nice. She says she wants to get up in the middle of the night to look for shooting stars as well. Will see if that happens.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to the Garden. Things are doing OK, warmish and a bit of rain. We think mum should get the grass eater out, things are getting a bit shaggy!
We are showing you some bad flowers this week. These first two are sort of looking like morning glories but they are a close cousin that is invasive. Mum is going to have to work on getting rid of this. More icky stuff to work on. Mum sometimes thinks she should take a flame thrower to parts of the garden.
Below is what dandy-lions look like if you don't mow them off. They get 3-4 feet high! This is along the trail, so not something mum has to work on, thank goodness.
Below is our ornamental thistle, the hummers and butterflies like this plant. Mum got a few pics of a monarch flitting about a few days ago.

That is all for this week. Enjoy!

ManCat Monday

Nobody who is not prepared to spoil cats will get from them the reward they are able to give to those who do spoil them. - Sir Comptom MacKenzie

Yeah, I am spoiled. Nice house to live in, get lots of loves, good toys, treats and other noms. Life is good!
Me and mum had a quiet weekend. Stayed cool inside, at least I did. Mum did go out for bits on both days. Said being outside made her like the inside better!

One of the places mum went on Caturday was to the library but not to read books. She went to crow-shay and make hats! She had made all sorts of hats, nearly 30 so far since May. The two in the box above in the upper left hand corner were two she finished there. Plus she was able to start a third one. All for a project call Click for Babies to raise awareness of infant abuse.
Suppose to be hot again today, guess me and mum will just chill again today.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! I was even nice this morning and did not wake up mum. I let her sleep until she wanted to get up. That was just a short time ago and I was waiting for her in the reading chair. Not that she was ready to read, but we looked outside to check on the back yard.
She finished her last book from the library yesterday, so she needs to go today and get more. Plus she says she has to go and help crow-shay hats. Little purple hats. She has lots of those and is still making more.

Going to be a hot one today, so me and mum will stay as cool as we can and pretty much take it easy. You all have a wonderful weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to the garden this week. It has been hotter with less rain so the grass is getting crunchy. Mum says that is OK, then she doesn't have to use the grass eater as often.

A few pics from the community garden. Eggy plants are looking good as are the purple peppers!

Mum says they are just about the size that she would want to eat. Big enuf to get a good meal and not waste anything.
Plus the woodchuck has been around and made a huge hole! They need to get a trap but need a really big one. Marked so no one steps in here and breaks their ankle!
When mum got home from the garden she then took a walk down the trail. This is going away from our house and just about to her turn around spot to come home.
Lots of purrty wild flowers and such. These are teasels and they grow wild. Mum thinks they are unique looking and the bumbly bees were liking the a lot.
All from the garden this week. See you soon.
