Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy last day of 2016. It has been a crazy year and tomorrow we gets to start in on a new one. Wonder what surprized it will bring.

Me and mum are laying low today. I think she had a bit of a bug overnight. Went to bed early, said she was all cold, so put on her sleeping socks and heavier sleeping clothes. Then about every our she would add to it, or then after a while start changing things out for something cooler and lighter. She seems OK now. She also days her knees are not aching like they were yesterday. With mum, if her joints hurt, or she can't get warm enuf, then she has a bug.

So I stayed near her all night. Slept right next to her, although when she gets all warms she blames me! I had to be on duty to make sure she was OK, no real sicky issues with the litter box room, just aches.
She says she needs to get some fresh airs, so will head out for a short walk. Then back inside to be with me. Said we can watch fevvers in the back. Snuggle in the chair. Later she will go gets our fancy meal for tonight. Chinese takeout, which means lots of chick-hen!

Happy New Year to all. Be safe tonight, no drinking and driving. We both want you around to share life with us next year!

Throw Back Thursday

HiYa Ducky here. We are on to the end of the week and the end of the year. Wow, another year almost done. Where do they go so fast. The new year should be interesting seeing there will be a new prezzident.

We have had some ups and downs with weather this week. Rain, sunny and melty, then back to cold, then not so cold. Mum has to change up every day what she wears out walking every day. She wants to be warm enuf, but not too warms.

So this weeks Throwback is to 2007 and we had just gotten snow.

Winter Wonderland

The snow machine was at it again yesterday. Mum worked from home so she didn't have to go out with the crazy drivers to get home. Plus she had to use the snow eating monster, again.

So here are an assortment of pictures from yesterday during the storm, some even at night and then today.
So where was I during all of this. Having a nap pile with the new seven kitties on mum's new throw! She took a picture of me from outside while she was working.
Plus with the snow it brings lots of birdies around to eat at our feeders I get so 'acited when they come around. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and lots of snack.
Ah, the good life. Stay warm and dry everyone.

Remembering Derby

It is now two years since the big guy ran off to the bridge. We miss him, although mum says she doesn't miss having to clean up his yaks from the carpet! MOL.

Mum has done some research and had decided he had Polydipsia. It is defined as follows:

Increased thirst (polydipsia) is a sign of many diseases in cats including diabetes, hyperthyroidism and kidney disease.

Mum said Derby was always a cat who like to drink, so she thinks he had issues his whole life, just that they finally caught up with him. He would drink from the tap whenever mum would have it on, he would even get in the tub by the laundry machine to drink there and to taste the water coming from the condensation of the heaty machine in the dungeon. Or jump in the hot rain room after she was done. Heck, he would even lick the water on the outside of a glass when it would sweat.

He was such a handful when visiting the stabby place that everyone was happy to give him a quick once over, get him his shots and be done.  To have done any blood work, he would have to have been sedated to draw the blood. Plus he never showed much other than getting a bit thinner.

So my dear brofur, and mum's first adult cat, we will share a few pictures. These are from 2005, Derby's first year with mum.

ManCat Monday - Boxing Day

With their qualities of cleanliness, discretion, affection, patience, dignity, and courage, how many of us, I ask you, would be capable of becoming cats? - Fernand Mery Her Majesty the Cat

Happy Boxing Day and yes I have my box for the season. It was something that mum ordered and she let me keep it. She recycled my other box, said after a year I should get a new one.

Mum gave me a loverly dinner yesterday of turkey with gravy. Then she headed out to have her meal with furiends, they had ham loaf. She came home smelling of woofie, and yes the place she was had one. Mum says the woofie, Shelby, is finally growing up. She was well behaved for the most part, no barking and minding.

She wasn't out late home by early evening. So we had a nice snuggle time in the evening. It was warm out and we had rain, but we had enuf snow on the ground that the rain didn't make it go away. So we did have a white Christmouse.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - they won again, beating the ViQueens. Now five in a row for wins. They need to win next weekend to ensure they get into the playoffs. Plus mum sees now that it will be the Sunday night game.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend cellybrating all the hollydaze!

Merry Christmouse

It is a White Christmouse for us this year, the past two years have been no white on the ground. Mum also found a picture showing how our trees have changed. The one on the left sure has grown!

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, (because he was of the house and lineage of David,) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2: 1-20 (KJV)

Caturday - Christmouse Eve

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Christmouse Eve to you all. Santa Paws will be stopping by late tonight. Hope he brings me and mum lots of goodies.

We got just a little bit of snow last night and it made things all purrty. So mum got real arty and tried to take pictures in the dark of the crabby apple tree in the back with snow on it. Sort of turned out, but mum may have to tweak it with the photo program. Still sort of cool.

So mum got up this morning and cleared the snow off out front, then she went to the back. She noticed a mess of fevvers on top of the snow. Seems Mr Hawk stopped by for an early brekkie of dove. Iffin you don't like this, just go by the pic quick. Yeah, just a tiny bit of red in the snow too. This isn't far from where the fevver bath sits, but mum also noticed tree twigs down farther in the back. So likely the dove was caught there. The bath area has no mess by it.
The drive cleared once again, it is melty out today, so this will be all clear soon. Rain tomorrow.
Me napping for now, maybe I will stay up late to see if I can catch Santa! Plus mum is getting ready to watch feetsball. With Christmous lots of games are on today.

Happy Christmouse Eve.

Throw Back Thursday

Hey everyone, getting closer to Christmouse. Mum doesn't have to shop this time of year for stuff other than our foods. She can avoid the crazy peoples out there.

Today's flashback comes from December 22, 2007. Back then mum still needed shopping for Grampie. But even then she tried to avoid the last minute crazy. Even the weather is treating us like it did in 2007. Lots of snow and cold, we turned to winter and it is warming up. Go figure!

Shopping - Are You Done Yet?

Can I help you putting away all of the stuff in these bags?

Mum is done with her Christmas shopping and has been putting the stuff inside of pretty colored papers. But she won't put them under the tree as she doesn't want me to eat them or rip them open. At least not until Christmas.

Mum is trying to sleep extra as her head is stuffy and she is tired. I however wanted to wake her up early. So I jumped on the bed and starting doing Fat Eric's trick of licking her hair, she didn't get up until she wanted to get up.

Then she readed the paper things and then went to the store for food. She said she is not going into a store to shop for many days, too many crazy last minute people shopping. She got what she needed for her and Grampie, even buying stuff that she said the store was practically giving away.

Mum had looked last week at stuff for herself but didn't get anything. Then yesterday the stuff is even less AND she had a coupon for 15% more off. So she gotted herself some cute sleeping outfits, one with kitties on them, one with sheeps and a nice fluffy robe to help her keep warm as we sit on the couch and snuggle.

Winter is being strange. We had lots of snow and cold weather while it was still officially autumn, now that it is officially winter, we have warmer weather and lots of fog. So it it very dreary outside. The talking box people say it is going to rain, then get cold and bring some snow. So we will have a white Christmas here.

Tuesday This and That

HiYa, Ducky here. Hope all are staying warm. It is actually much warmer around here today. Almost above freezing!

You can see the power of the sun. This was the driveway on Monday morning, almost completely clear. Today with more sun and the warmer temps it is almost all clear. Well, except for right down by the stree.
Me checking out the little Christmouse tree, I even batted a couple of the bells on it before jumping down.

Mum says tomorrow is the winter solstice, which means the shortest amount of daylight. Mum looked at our sunrise and sunset times for tomorrow, 7 hours, 59 minutes! Mum says she is liking being retired, no getting up in the dark or driving home from day hunting in the dark. She can be home and enjoy the sun when we have it.

So cellybrate the solstice, that means you guys in the other half of the world need to send the sun back to us now!

ManCat Monday

You can't help that. We're all mad here. - The Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland

Mum must be mad, she went outside yesterday AM when it was furry cold. Yeah, the snow had to be cleared off, and yes she dressed all warms.
So a nice clean drive way so mum can get out with the metal monster when she needs to. Said she will need a library run today, and to pick up a few food things. Will hit the store before the kiddies are getting off school.
Me on mum's lap on Caturday afternoon. We sat here and watched the snow fall the the fevvers at the feeder. With the cold we had lots of fevvers eating at the feeders and getting drinks at the watering bowl.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - It took until the final few seconds but they beat Da Bears! If they can win the final two games then they will make the playoffs. It was a cold game and mum laffs at the silly peoples who are watching with minimal clothes. Mum says they have lots of alkyhol in them to feel things like they should.

Have a good week everyone. Less than a week before Christmouse!

Caturday

Happy Caturday everyone. Mum has finally turned on the puter so I can post. She was taking her own sweet time looking out the back at the fevvers. I did join her for a while to watch. Lots of fevvers today, at least once mum went out to clear the snow and refill the feeders.

We got about another 4 inches of snow, the weather guessers say we are supposed to get more late this afternoon and evening.
Before and after, the foot prints are from the newsy paper guy walking up to toss the paper by the front door. Mum said that help with getting the snow off better, no snow packed down by a car.
So me and mum will wait to see if we get more snow later, she may need to clean again. Then the super cold for Sunday, which means mum will keep the windows covered. The other day she had it partially open, but when she saw where I was sitting, she opened it a bit more.
Happy weekend everyone. Be safe and warm, travel safe if you are traveling.

Throw Back Thursday

It is furry cold here, me and mum are doing lots of cuddles to keep warms. She goes out if she has to, she had the bored of the library meeting. After the usual meeting they had a nice social time, eating and having a drink.

Plus lots more snow coming tonight and tomorrow. Oh Joy.

Today's flash back is from December 15,2007. Derby had just got his Secret Paw Package.

Secret Paw Arrived

What timing! Friday mum got my package taken to the station, then later in the day the guy left me a package. What was bestest is that mum was home from work early, so as soon as the guy left it mum brought it inside.
Here I am inspecting the box, it is from Artsy Catsy! They are a great bunch of kitties, so this should be good.
Top layer was a card signed by all of the gang, plus drool from Rocky. Must be nip in here somewhere!
First a wonderful sign to tell everyone not to do bad things to me, Derby. All of those bad things start with a "D" too. Now I know what mum should not do to me.
Then down to the serious layer of goodies - organic nip, fevver butt mousies, jacks (I never seen these before), Pounce Treats too. I am one of the minority in that I like Pounce treats better than Temp-tay-shuns. Two containers of treats. I should be all set to have mum handing these out on a regular basis.
Mum put them up on the top of the stand and I jumped up to inspect further. Oh this will be great!
And the empty box isn't bad either! Thank you so much to everyone at Artsy Catsy, you did a great job of picking prezzies.

I mentioned mum came home early on Friday, so I got some extra mum time. But she also spent time outside pulling snow off the roof of the house! Doesn't she get enough of that stuff when it comes down on the driveway? Mum says she did it to keep from getting more ice on the edge of the roof. We have some and lots of icicles which mum says if they get thick enough could damage the roof or gutters. This way the edge has less snow to actually melt and things work out fine.

Plus she spent a lot of time filling the birdie feeders, they sure do eat a lot when the snow is on the ground. Good thing mum has lots of foods for them, it is snowing again today. But is is a nice soft fluffy snow, pretty to look at and not hard to shovel.

Oh mum is done with another batch of peanut brittle. Time to go see if I can lick the pan and get some butter.
