Caturday

We had a super nice day yesterday. It was sunny and it was warm enough that mum opened the window for a while. It was so nice to smell the outside, hear the fevvers singing and calling for their girl friends. Plus the snow is getting less and less.

We can see the man with the long blu shorts coming with the mail. Do you see him?
Gotta to and check to see what he dropped off in the box. Maybe something good!

TGIF - Thank Goodness I'm Feline

Not much happening so far today. It is Good Friday for those of a Christian religion. Mum went to church last night, so decided she won't go today.

Sun is out, lots of sun puddles to nap in and our snow is disappearing! WhooHoo. So I will nap in the sunpuddle in the front window.
Mum did some clearing out again yesterday in the AM. Got rid of all sorts of drinking glasses and such. Stuff that hasn't been used in ages.
So now the cupboard is nice and neat with lots of room, and now she won't knock stuff down and get it broken like she did recently. What a mess that was!

Garden Thursday

::MEOW::

Hello and  Welcome to Garden Thursday. I'm Virginger the hostess with the mostest with the news from outside.

Spring is slowly coming. We finally had our first robin show up in our yard this week. Plus mum chopped up an apple and put it in one of the feeders for them.

It has been a little warmer and sunny, so more of the snow is melting. It is a slow melt, but mum says that is good for the ground as it needs moisture. We had such a dry summer last year, we were in drought conditions. Now we are no longer in drought conditions. That is a good thing.
Our little green tree died from the lack of water. Mum says she will have to cut it down soon. But wants to get a new one!

So you can see more of our grass, which hasn't woken up get to get green. That will happen soon. Mum even took the grass cutting monster in for its tuneup yesterday. She might need it in the next month.

That should be it for now.

Love, Virginger

Tuesday Report

Mum didn't leave us for long, just overnight. She does this about once a year. Her furriends invite her for dinner and to stay overnight. The reason to stay overnight, mum says they can enjoy adult beverages and mum isn't driving until the next day.

Mum said she tried a lemon merguenge martini. She says it was OK, but rather tart! She prefers the razzberry martini instead. Mum says she got fed a wonderful dinner, this is her furiends who had her for Thanksgiving with the roasted duck, but they had pork loin instead. Plus the talked a lot!

When she got home mid-morning on Monday and working on knitting, so Ducky played with the yarn while mum worked.

So we really didn't have enough time for a decent house dance or trashing party. Maybe sometime soon she will be gone longer and we can do that.

ManCat Monday

Balanchine has trained his cat to perform brilliant jetes, and tours en l'air; he says that at last he has a body worth choreographing for. - Bernard Taper

No dancing for us, we are just taking it easy again today. Why not, we don't have deadlines and such. We only dance when we want to, and then we dance our own dance.
Rather quiet around here. Mum took off with her red bag yesterday afternoon and hasn't come back yet. We have lots of noms, so no worries there. We thinks she went off to see a furiend and stay overnight.

TGIF - Thank Goodness I'm Feline - Flashbacks

While we are complaining about the slow spring, maybe we should feel so bad about it. Mum remembers 5 years ago on March 21-22 that we got a whopper of a snow storm. It was a Friday and it was Good Friday, just before Easter.

Ducky didn't even exist yet, so it was just me and mum, watching the snow flakes flying.

Our snow was almost all gone, flashback #1.Then mother nature blessed us with more. Flashback #2 and Flashback #3

So while it is cold, at least the snow piles are not as deep. The weather guessers say it will be a bit warmer next week. So maybe this will help the melting.

Otherwise, we will nap. Otherwise, it is a grate time to nap or hang out in the sun. AT least we have sun!
Happy weekend.

Garden Thursday

::MEOW::

BRRRRRRRRR, Like the boys said yesterday, it sure isn't very spring like outside. Snow covers the ground and while we have seen some of the tu-lips and stuff start to poke above ground, they certainly are not ready to bloom.

But we do see other signs of spring. First the daylight hours are much longer, over 12 hours now and the sun does not set until after 7 PM.

Plus even with the snow, some of the birds are coming back that go away for the winter. First, the party for the red-wing blackbirds is in our yard. Look at all of them! Mum talked with someone she knows that just lives maybe a quarter of a mile away and they said they hadn't seen any of these birds yet. That is because they like our yard so much better.

Plus we have seen grackles and brown-headed cowbirds at the feeder. Mum has seen a few robins, but we haven't seen them in our yard just yet.

With all of the bigger fevvers taking over the one feeder, mum got a smaller one and hung it under the edge of the patio roof. This gives a spot where the little birds can eat in peace. Mum hung it out and within a few hours we had visitors. Plus this is so close to the big windows that go to the floor that the boys are having a blast with the fevver TV channel.
Another sign of spring, the male goldyfinches are starting to molt and show their bright yellow color. They look kinda funny being two toned, but it is a start.

Plus we just saw in the past week a new fevver that we have never seen before. A common Redpoll. According to mum's fevver book they "irregularly migrate from Canada". Which we guess that means, some years they come south, others not. They are the fevvers on the upper left and lower right..

We are hoping for better and more spring like conditions, but the weather guessers are saying don't count on it anytime soon.

See you next week.

Love, Virginger.

The Rodents Were Wrong

Scientifically, spring started at 6:02 AM Central Daylight Time today, when the sun was directly over the equator. This is what it looks like from our windows.
White, cold, not inviting to go outside at all.
Yes, when mum took the picture it was 10 F outside, it was lower!
So all of those groundhogs, Phil, Wynter and what ever there names were that predicted an early spring.....

THEY WAS WRONG!

Heck, the human weather guessers don't do much better! We will be napping and keeping warm today. We do have sun puddles, so will try to take advantage of them! We will dream of spring.

Our Hearts are Broked

We read late Monday that our wonderful buddy and fellow Gorgeous Ginger, Eric has left us and run off to The Bridge.

We are beyond sad and mum has such leaky eyes since reading the news. Below is our tribute to Eric, we will miss you big guy. Purrs and prayers to Flynn and your mum and dad.

Free in the green fields, looking for mousies. Forever free of pain. Farewell dear furiend.

ManCat Monday

What sort of philosophers are we, who know absolutely nothing about the origin and destiny of cats? - Henry David Thoreau

We had a good weekend, pretty quiet, not much happened. However we are not happy about the fact that we are going to get more of the white stuff from the sky and it is furry cold outside too. Way too cold for this time of year - like 15  to 20 degrees colder. Now last year at this time we had abnormally warm.

This is what our four-sith-ia looked like one year ago. You can see some of the little white and purple crocus-us, as well. Heck we still have lots of snow on the ground this year. We aren't asking for what we had last year, could we get something a bit more average/normal? Please?

We are sending our our purrs to Calico Mom Toni and Calico Dad Ron. He is having some big medical stuff done. Also to our fellow Gorgeous Ginger Eric. He isn't doing well again.

Well, with the icky weather and all, guess we will go nap and purr.

Oh, those cupcakes from yesterday. Mum did not make them, she just found a picture to put on the blog. Mum doesn't make that kind of stuff as she said if she did, someone has to eat it. Likely that would be her and she says her waistline doesn't need it.

Happy St Pat's Day

We are not Irish, but if you are or like to pretend you are, go ahead and cellybrate.

We are taking it easy today, it is Sunday after all.

Ducky with his shamrock of modesty!
