Throw Back Thursday

Now that the girls have gone into hibernation for the winter, I will do some throw back posts. Looking back at previous years on whatever day it happens to be. So here is my selection for today.
It comes from November 2007 and it features Derby.

Funky Fang Shui Friday

Select hiding places that cannot be exploited by the enemy. Either feline or flashy box.
Mum got to meet The Crew's mom last night. They took a class on Photoshop through a local school. Maybe mum can learn how to do fancy pictures like Zoolarty. Even if they are half that good, she will be doing good.
So when she got home she tried to do a few things that she learned. The above is the original picture
Then she made two of me and flipped me around. I could be boxing with myself.
Then she moved me around and put in a different background. So it will be interesting to see what she comes up with when she has more time. Plus if she isn't watching the Packers getting beaten. Mum missed a lot of the game since she was at the class, she said that was OK, it is just a game, but they did make it close towards the end. Plus people gotted hurt.

I got my Secret Paw assignment. I am working and thinking of what I can send my furiend. It could be you!

We are supposed to get a storm with white stuff this weekend. I hope that mum has a big supply with treats in the house. Don't want to run out!

Plus have you noticed anything different about me lately??? Any guesses?

ManCat Monday

Cats' hearing apparatus is built to allow the human voice to easily go in one ear and out the other.  - Stephen Baker

The weekend is over but the marvy weather continues. Lots of sunshine and warmish temps. Mum could go outside to get the fevvers fed and not even put on a jacket. She was outside chatting with the maybors for a long time too on Caturday  afternoon.

OK, now some of you have said mum should have brought me home some of the duck. Sort of duck for Ducky. Mum thinks that would be rude to ask her host for that, to say, hey save some food for my cat. Heck, there are peoples that need to eat and they come first. Plus wouldn't eating this make me be a cannibal?

Feetsball Report

The Pack - well,  they looked like they were ready for prime time for a change and played a really good team in the Steelers. They actually were leading during the first half. Then again during the second half they were ahead. It was tied up until right at the end when the Steelers kicked a field goal as time expired. Best game so far for the subQB the new Brett.

Everyone have a good week! Four weeks to Christmouse!

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Wow, it is so nice out these days. Lots of sun and even warm enuf that mum can open the windows a little bit. That is purrty good for being Turkey Day time of the year.

I didn't have turkey. I got some special gooshy foods but mum said the can was ocean whitefish and tuna. It was good. She didn't have turkey either. She abandoned me to head off to her furiends and spend the night too. They always do duck. Not Ducky, not me, but those little quackers.
Mum made an appetizer to take along, mini cheese balls with bacon in them and then little pretzels to pick them up with so your fingers didn't get sticky.
Five ducks getting roasted on the grill. They had been roasting here for a little over an hour. The hair dryer is to get the added coals up to temperature fast.
All grilled and ready to carve. One of the first years mum went they only grilled 3 ducks. This year they had 16 peoples over for dinner. All but 4 were family.
The carving of the ducks. Mum took a video of them starting to work on the little birds. They stand like vultures to snap up bits of the crispy skin. You can be full before you get to the table.
The platter nearly full of meat to serve. I didn't get any leftovers brought home to me. Those peoples ate it all! No leftovers for anyone! Well, unless you wanted mashed taters, and I don't!
Mum got home to me pretty early after having brekkie there, then sat so I could sit on her and soak up my loves. She did one tiny shopping thing yesterday but at a store that won't have crowds.

Today she says she needs a library run, then we will watch Bucky Badger play feetsball later.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving

We all need to pause today to just give a little bit of thanks for all that we have. Here are just a few things I am thankful for:

A wonderful home
Good foods to eat
Fevvers to watch
Snuggles with mum
Grate places to nap
All of our furiends, cat and human
Sunny days

Everyone have a safe and wonderful holiday. Try not to overeat and if you shop, be kind and don't be rude and push. Me and mum will stay home and avoid the crazy peoples at the store.

ManCat Monday

A cat determined not to be found can fold itself up like a pocket handkerchief if it wants to. - Louis J Camuti

Happy Monday! We had a bright and sunny day yesterday, so that little bit of snow that you saw on Caturday is gone. Heck, it was gone a few hours later, so it didn't stick around.
I had sun to nap in yesterday morning, it felt good to have the sun on my furs and make me all warms.
Plus I have been snoopervising mum to get her going on the blankie and she has make lots of progress since she pulled it out of storage. I am proud of her. She has added the second big light colored stripe and the brown and green. She is to the point that she got to the last corner. She says she will be done by the end of the year, likely even before Christmouse and is starting to think about what to do for her next project.
All of this snoopervising is tiring so I had to take a long nap on my hammick.
Yes, I heard the flashy box go off, you are disturbing me, so back off! Go watch feetsball.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - well as bad as they played I can understand why you might be bugging me. It was so bad that they didn't even score any points at all! That hasn't happened for a long time. Sad but mum sort of expected the results, although they somehow managed to beat Da Bears.

Happy week everyone, a holiday coming for us in Mericky, it will be Turkey Day.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday! It is all gloomy and dark here this morning. I finally got mum out of the sleepy spot. Jumped on  her a few times, then she was awake enuf to crawl on out!
It is going to be a snoozy day here with it all gloomy, so I have staked out the other end of the couch from mum. She says we can watch a bit of Bucky Badger feetsball later!
Mum started the peanut brittle making for the year. She had peanuts in the freezer from last year so she made three batches, but she messed up with the first batch. You can see how dark it is. Says she needs to be more peanuts from the store to make more.
Yep, being paws on with the blankie. If mum is watching feetsball, that means she will be working on this today. She has made good progress since I am making sure she works on it.
Everyone have a good weekend. Stay safe and warm.

Yikes, we are getting a bit of snow. BIG, FAT Snowflakes!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur. Our final Garden Thursday for this year. Time for us to have a well deserved hibernation during the cold months.

Mum is almost done with the garden clean-up, one more day she needs and it won't take the whole day. Then just waiting on the rest of the leaves to come off the trees. Then it will be all done.

So this week we will share a few pictures that we don't think we shared earlier in the year. Just some cute and fun stuff.

Mr Cardinal getting something to eat in our feeder, as it gets colder, we see more fevvers stop by.
Mr Sqwerl jumping up on the fevver bath to get a drink. There is always water here and not frozen stuff.
Mr Red Tail Sqwerl, climbing up on the support. This guy was small and silly!
Raccoon alert. Mum got up and saw that they had pushed the lid off the storage can. So she got out the other heavy bungee cord to put through the top. That keeps them from getting in.
Same day, they knocked over the whole bird bath. Either jumping on it or off it. Thankfully the stand is metal and the dish part is heavy plastic. So nothing broked.
One little goldy finch deaded on the patio. Mum isn't sure if it just died or crashed into the big window and then was deaded.
Splish, splash. Mr Robin taking a bath this summer. After bath time mum has to put more water in!

That is it! Everyone have a wonderful winter, stay warm and safe. We will see you next spring.

Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

ManCat Monday

The sound of the cat mesmerizes, calms the chattering minds, stills the anxious heart. - Theresa Mancuso

Another Monday has arrived. We had a cloudy weekend here and a bit of drizzle, but still no white stuff. Most of the naybors were doing leaves, but mum is waiting until the rest of them fall off the trees. Then she can finish and be done.

Mum watched lots of sports this weekend and worked on the blankie. Says she wants to get it done this year. Then she can move on to a new project. As you can see I was helping her work on the blankie.

Feetsball Report

The Pack -They won! They beat Da Bears! Whoo Hooo! The sub QB, the new Brett, managed to do OK, tossed a TD pass and one guy manged to run to get a score too. Some funky plays, like that one play where it looked liked Da Bears scored, but in fact the guy fumbled and it was Green Bay's ball!

Have a good week everyone.

Caturday - Happy Veteran's Day

First off it is Veteran's Day here in the US and Remembrance Day in many other parts of the world. A day we take to formally say thank you to the men and women who have served in the military. Their service is what helps us be free. They gave part of their lives to serve us and some gave their life to serve us.
Mum's money guy is a vet, he was a Marine! Semper Fi to you sir! We salute you.

It has gotten furry cold here, windy too. Mum has to bundle up a bit more when going outside. We have not yet seen any of that white stuff coming from the sky. Places near the big lake did see flakes, so just keep it away from us.
Mum switched out the blankie over the couch yesterday and I decided I needed to tunnel in for a bit. I can't exactly hide here. Mum knows exactly where I am!
Everyone have a good weekend. Stay warm.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur. BRRRRRRR!

It got way cold Tuesday night, Mum was happy since that means the leaves off this one tree will fall off, and they only seem to fall off after a really cold night. So that meant mum had to work lots yesterday to get it all cleaned up.
All those leaves on the ground, it is like the whole tree dropped its leaves in a few hours.
Here is the nearly naked tree, it had lots of leaves on Tuesday.
The messy patio and you don't see us on our bench! Mum has tucked us away since it is now so cold. We can peek to see what she is doing.

The front, just as messy, but with the leaves from the maple trees.
So mum worked hard, got the leaves out into the street, then she went back and mowed the entire yard to crunch up what was still on the ground, or the areas that she didn't blow the leaves off.
The back later in the day, all those messy leaves gone. The green stuff mum wants to kill, she calls it ground cover and it is getting out of control.
The big maple tree still has lots of leaves on it. So mum will have more work to do once these come down. Although she hopes that she can take care of them by just chewing them up with the mower. She knows that is good for the grass. Returns foods to the grass.
That is all for this week. Stay warm. Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Tuesday This and That

It was a beauty-ful day, nice and sunny. Tonight it is super cold already, so me and mum are snuggling.

Oh yeah, feetsball. The Not Ready for Prime Time Packers showed up last night. ARodg is healing, the replacement guy isn't that great, the defense isn't that good either. Mum says it will be a long rest of the season.

ManCat Monday

If you would know what a cat is thinking about, you must hold its paw in your hand for a long time.  - Jules Champfleury

I don't like mum to hold my paw. She does sometimes but not for long. So that means mum will never know what I am thinking about.

I guess we found the hour in the clock, although mum was gone and had put out extra crunchies for me. She got home yesterday in time for lunch. Something about a banquet and awards for one of the racy groups. Far enuf way that she goes with other peoples and then stays overnight at their house. This is where she goes for Turkey Day too.
So I spend my time in my ham-mick, staying where the warms flow under my body keeping me warms. Mum says she missed me sleeping with her as the bed she was sleeping in she was too warm with the heavy blankie and not quite warm enuf with just a sheet. Said she could have used some of my warms.

Plus mum says she has another banquet to go in a few weeks, plus she got an invite to a sur-prize 50th purrthday part coming up soon. Party, party, party girl!

Feetsball Report

The Pack  - they play tonight, so we hopes they win.

Blogoversary - Blogging since 2005!

Happy Blogoversary to myself! Way back in the dark ages Derby started this out. About 6 months after he moved in with mum.

He told me he had found Max, The PsychoKitty and decide he had to share what he had found out about life in general and life with mum.

Things started slow, no comments for a bit, but then things just took off. He found all sorts of other kitties just like himself all around the innerwebs and all around the world. Now me and mum have furiends all over the world. Amazing isn't it.

Derby started it, I joined in and now carry on his legacy. Of course I couldn't do this without mum, love you so much mum!
Derby, close up so you can see his stripey nose!
Me and my beauty-ful golden eyes.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

The colds have really set in. Mum even attached the electric cord to the bird bath so it won't freeze. Gotta make sure the fevvers have something to drink.
Mr Hawk has been stopping by to look for something to eat now and then. Occasionally he does get something. You can see little bits of fevvers left in the grass of something. Not many fevvers, so likely a small fevver. Doves have bigger piles of fevvers left.

Mum saw this lovely tree down where she has her garden glasses. It just popped out with the gray day of the class. Bet it was even prettier when the sun was out.
The house across the street, you can see the heavy frost we have gotten a few times. This was last week on Thursday since the garbage cans are out for G-man Fred to pick up.

Trick or treat was quiet, we don't get than many little sticky spooks to come by for treats.

Love, Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.
