Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Easter Eve! Hope the bunny bringing goodies brings what you want.

Mum rolled out the griller machine from its winter spot. Woohoo, that means good noms coming up when mum cooks outside.
She is trying to use up what she has in the freezer box, so she started with a couple of burgers. They were nice and tasty. Mum has chick-hen in the freezer, along with some brats. Then she will buy some new meats, some nice tasty steak will be good.
It may be spring but the cool weather is hanging on and we may even see snow flakes today. It won't stick to the ground, but ick, we want spring weather. Sunny and getting warmer.
Happy Easter,

Throw Back Garden Thursday?

Yes, we have decided to make an appearance for the year. Wednesday, yesterday, was a decent day and mum was checking up on us and we decided to come out.
Mum took Virginger around front and you can see Ducky inside in the window. He was napping in the sun puddle.
Mum said Virginger needed a bath! Ack, not a bath, but you can see that she does look much better below, face clean, paws clean, even her spot 13 got cleaned.

A video of Ducky checking out Virginger after she got all cleaned up.
A few of the crocus out front all blooming nicely.
Mum did some actual garden work as well, or at least she tried. She wants to rip out the old landscape fabric, but as she worked she found that it hasn't been warm enough and she only got so far as the fabric was frozen under the ground. So she got out what she could, which was only 25% of what has to come out.
So that is it for now.

Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur (who is still hiding)

ManCat Monday

Nothing's more playful than a young cat... - Thomas Fuller

I may not be really young, but I can be playful. Mum heard me making all sorts of noise and I was attacking my hanging toy like crazy. Just releasing my inner kitten.
Plus me and mum had some nice quiet time in the fevver watching chair. I put on my best cute face and spent time in her lap, plus I did my good boobity check on her as well. Gotta make sure mum is all healthy.

Mum did some fancy cooking this weekend and made something called scallops. Oh my did they smell good and mum hadn't even cooked them yet. But mum didn't give me any of this as she said there was garlic and I can't have that.
She mixed them with a bit of pasta noodles and then she chowed down. Said this was the first time she tried to cook scallops and said they turned out OK. She has more to cook so will try this again sometime soon.
Last week of the month! Where has the time gone. So every one have a wonderful week.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday. We are up and moving around. Mum has gotten her newsy paper read for the day.

The snowstorm is missing us to the south. Mum is happy about that, but the snow eater is handy to use if she needs it. She hasn't swapped it for the grass eater just yet. Right now the grass is still brown and not growing yet.
We have flowers! They finally opened up and mum got pictures. They are bright enuf that you can see the purple and yellow from the street. Happy times, we have flowers again.
Not much going on this weekend. Me and mum will take it easy at home, do a few chores and just enjoy ourselves. I will nap in the sun.
Happy weekend all.

Throw Back Thursday

A tiny bit of color has appeared in the front yard. The flowers haven't opened yet but, at least some color.
Me, I will just sit here and stare at mum.

Ten years ago the snow machine would not quit, so here are winter pictures! We know what you east coast peoples are going through. Mum said that was the worst winter for snow she has ever gone through.

Enough Already from March 22, 2008

It may say spring by the calendar but you wouldn't know it by the look of of our yard. Remember those nice pictures I showed you yesterday how nicely our snow melted? Well the snow is all back! Mum says we have gotten 12 inches of snow so far when she was outside last about 6 PM. Plus it is still snowing.

Our last big snow storm came on Ash Wednesday and today's storm is on Good Friday. What a way to bookend Lent! Lots of churches canceled their services. Mum and Grampie decided since it was so nasty out to just stay home and be safe.

Front yard at 9 AM, then 3 PM, then 6 PM.
Patio back of the house at 9 AM, then 3 PM, then 6 PM.

We had all sorts of birdies around eating our foods today, so the party was in my yard. The little guys on the ground, robins in the tree eating the left over crab apples and brown headed cowbirds at the one feeder. These last two birdies have come north already, I don't think they expected such a storm. At one point mum saw three robins in the tree eating the left over little crab apples.
Smudge made his journey over the Rainbow Bridge. He was just a young cat of 2 and his family misses him furry much. Godspeed Smudge.

I got tagged for the middle name meme by
Captain Jack and Sir Dante, also by Chance for the Middle Name Meme.

Here are the rules:
1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name or your mother's maiden name).
3. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person (or blogger of another species) for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged.)

Hmmm, now what is my middle name? I guess it is SASSY!

S = Sexy. 'nuf said!

A= Athletic. I can jump and race around the house. I am a thundering herd of elephants all on my own.

S = Soft, my furs that is.

S = Sophisticated. At least I think so.

Y = Young. Hey I am only four. That is just a really young, when you think that some of our revered catizens are over 15 years old.

I am going to skip tagging anycat. Play if you want to. I am going to go nap and hope that the snow goes away (again) really soon! I want the windows open and nice weather is here all the time.

ManCat Monday

She moved through the garden in glory, because She had very long claws at the end of her paws. - Richard Garnett

Not much garden to get through here at this time. There is a bit more of green stuff sticking up out of the ground.  It was super nice here this weekend, so nice that mum sat outside for a bit, but she did not cook outside yet. Says she has too much stuff in the cold box she should eat first.

I snoozed a lot in the sun this weekend. Now that the sun is so much brighter it is nice to snooze in the sun.
Mum said there were lots of beans helping at the food sort on Caturday. Some peoples were outside and rough sorted stuff into canned items, bagged items or small boxes. Then mum's group worked inside and checked them for expiration dates and sorted them better into canned fruit, canned veggies, pasta, etc. Then a third group went farther and then put like items together, so all the veggies of a certain type were together. They were pretty much done by 1 PM, so she came home.

Two weird things, one is that someone put a box of frozen pork chops out for pickup. Mum put it in the freezer and told the director what she had found. Then someone found a bag of pasta from Italy which had an expiration date of 31.03.87. Which means it expired on March 31, 1987. Ummm, someone must have cleaned house. Mum gets frustrated that people clear stuff out and donate stuff that is expired. Most of expired stuff has to be tossed, but they send it to a farm for animal food.

So have a happy week gang.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy St Pat's Day to all. We can all be just a little bit Irish today. Below a pic mum did with me and Derby with shamrocks behind us.
We had all sorts of excitement this week. The fox showed up again and mum got a few more pictures. He was chasing a sqwerl which went up a pole, the fox messed around, rolled over a few times then trotted off.

Plus mum went to a place to check out a new window for the kitch-hen, she was greeted by Luna, who the owners said her tail was wagging more for mum than it did for them. Mum says it is nice where they have these shop dogs or cats.
A pic of the flowers pushing out from the ground. Things are slow to come up this year, too cold. Some springs we have had flowers already. But, then again, we could still have lots of snow on the ground and we don't have that!

Mum is off to help at the food pantry today. The scouts are doing a food drive and she will help sort the food that comes in and check the expiration dates too.

Happy weekend.

Throw Back Thursday

It has been nice here the past few days but rather cool and windy. Mum checked on the girls but they say that they think it is still too cold to make an appearance even if spring starts next week.

It has been nice and sunny so I have been taking advantage of toasting myself in the front window. First one side, then the other. Then I go sit on mum who likes to snuggle my warm furs.

Mum has been out and about this week. She even went to a talk on worms that jump! Seems some funky worms have invaded Whiskerconsin. Mum says we don't have them in our yard. Funky in that they taste bad and even the birds won't eat them!

We don't have snow, but 10 years ago, there was lots of snow, you can see how much there was left!

Alaxing Saturday from March 15, 2008

It has been a nice quiet day here. Mum did a little shopping in the morning buying herself a few new springy clothes.

Spring is really coming, we can see the grass in front of the house again! It has been hiding for the longest time. Mum says she should put the springy wreath up on the door! Just do it mum.
Then mum looked in front of the house and she saw that the tulips are starting to push their way up from the warmth of the house.
This is the big pile of snow in the back of the house is getting smaller but this is the last bit of snow that disappears each year as it doesn't get much sun on it. Mum says it is half as high as it used to be a few weeks ago.
Grampie gets a little better each day. Mum calls him every morning and evening to check on him, but he says he is feeling more normal. So thanks to all who purred for him.

ManCat Monday

Poets generally love cats -- because poets have no delusions about their own superiority. - Marion Garretty

We had a wonderful weekend, lots of sun. Mum hid the hour in the clock but she went to bed early and also made sure there were extra crunchies out in case I got hungry, but she woke up on time on Sunday.
The sun is working its way north so it is coming in the big windows that go to the floor. Mum caught me for the first time this year napping in the pod.
I also have been napping in places where mum likes to sit. She had gotten up from here to get a new book to read. I moved in, it was nice and warm.
Why yes I do see you mum, what do you mean I have to move. Yeah, I didn't want to move, but she came around picked me up so she could sit down. Then I got to sit on her lap.
Spring is coming, mum found a few more little green shoots pushing out from the ground. Soon we shall have flowers.
Have a happy week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. We are going to have a wonderful day. It is bright and sunny outside so lots of sun pouring in our front windows. That means lots of sun puddles to rest in.
On my way to somewhere, walking through the light and shadows coming through the windows.
Or I will just rest up on the hammick and get all warms from the heaty spot. I am working hard to get the new fabric all furred up.
Don't forget to remind your humans to hide the hour in the clocks. Mum says she will do that soon and change all of the clocks that she has to do. Then the rest change themselves by majic overnight.

Happy weekend!

Throw Back Thursday

Winter decided to make a mini-comeback on Monday but most of the snow is already gone. Me and mum like that. The birdies are going crazy so that is another sign spring is coming. They want to get in on some loves.

Me and mum having a nap, I loves to sit on her and nap. Depending on how I sprawl out across her I get all sorts of loves. I like that.
So what is our throw back today. Well, back in 2008 is was a really nasty winter with lots and lots of snow. Mum and Derby were sick of it so mum bought real flowers to cheer herself up. Yes Derby needed to get at them. Plus some of his furiends, Kaze, Latte and Chase had a contest. Derby won third place. Plus the quilt, well he didn't win that either. Mum checked the links, they still work, so if you want to see his poem that got him 3rd place, you can go see it.

Stork Hunting Squad from March 8, 2008
I am joining Ramses and other kitties to catch the stork or storks when Isis has her little kitties sometime in the next few days. I am ready to teleport at a moments notice to help the gang catch these big fevvers.
