ManCat Monday

She moved through the garden in glory, because She had very long claws at the end of her paws. - Richard Garnett

Not much garden to get through here at this time. There is a bit more of green stuff sticking up out of the ground.  It was super nice here this weekend, so nice that mum sat outside for a bit, but she did not cook outside yet. Says she has too much stuff in the cold box she should eat first.

I snoozed a lot in the sun this weekend. Now that the sun is so much brighter it is nice to snooze in the sun.
Mum said there were lots of beans helping at the food sort on Caturday. Some peoples were outside and rough sorted stuff into canned items, bagged items or small boxes. Then mum's group worked inside and checked them for expiration dates and sorted them better into canned fruit, canned veggies, pasta, etc. Then a third group went farther and then put like items together, so all the veggies of a certain type were together. They were pretty much done by 1 PM, so she came home.

Two weird things, one is that someone put a box of frozen pork chops out for pickup. Mum put it in the freezer and told the director what she had found. Then someone found a bag of pasta from Italy which had an expiration date of 31.03.87. Which means it expired on March 31, 1987. Ummm, someone must have cleaned house. Mum gets frustrated that people clear stuff out and donate stuff that is expired. Most of expired stuff has to be tossed, but they send it to a farm for animal food.

So have a happy week gang.

  1. Pasta from 1987! That is just ridiculous. My human always checks expiration dates before donating food.

  7. 1987! Some peoples' kids, right? It's nice the your mum and folks like her make sure that food is good. We know it's very much appreciated by those who receive it.

  8. We have our first daffodils blooming, but we are saving those for the Garden Tour.

TBT says he has found stuff 5 years old in the pantry (he tends to buy canned chili sometimes and then never eat it). But 1987 sounds like something from a bomb shelter! Hmmm, it occurs to him that the lasagna pasta in that glass jar on the counter has been there an AWFUL long time, though. The last time he made lasagna, he had hair!

  9. Our Mom likes seeing your green things coming up out of the ground. This time of year makes her happy. Occasionally, our Dad has found things on grocery store shelves that are wildly out of date. Like a decade or more past. We're not even sure how that happens!

  10. Ok, 31 year old pasta is beyond expired! If it was elbow pasta, it could be used in kindergarten art class.
