Early One Morning

Its quarter to three,
There's no one in the place cept you and me
So set em up joe
I got a little story I think you oughtta know

Hi guys, I woke mum up very early Sunday AM. If she slips me a mickey and takes me to the stabby place, I can wake her up from her sleep.

Sometimes I like to find a toy and take it into mum's sleepy spot. I also let out a big, deep, MEOWRRWWW. Just let her know I am around, and maybe she will wake up and play with me. I do this at least once a week, mum usually ignores me. But I think she felt all bad about giving me drugs, she rolled to the side of the bed and started to get me pets. She also started to sing the above song. Why, cuz it was 2:45 AM exactly!
I am all fine from my medicated state. I felt good enough to eat and drink later in the evening. I did not see any pink mousies, but my hind legs didn't always do what I wanted them to do. I wasn't good at walking or jumping for about 6 hours.

Stabby Place Visit

Yep, me, Derby in the PTU (Prisoner Transport Unit). Mum kept saying the past couple of days we would be off to visit the doctor. I though it was for her, not me! Just my annual checkup, nothing wrong. But before we left we both got a bit of tuna but she slipped me a mickey!
So I wasn't walking furry good and mum had me go into the PTU, I just curled up. I talked all the way to the stabby place and once we got inside I started to growl and hiss as usual.
Mum just giving me a little love, can you see my eye is all wonky here? The VET man came in, I got my shot and then I hopped down on the floor. But they got me back up on the table and was able to give me the once over. Said I am looking good, ears OK, teeth not bad. Great fighting weight of 12.9 pounds, down a bit from last year. Come back in another year. See ya.

So I am home, sleeping it off in the back room.

Note from mum: Last year at Derby's checkup he was very aggressive. The vet was lucky to get him his shots and that was about it for the session. So this year I asked if there was something he could get to take the edge off before we got there. So the Vet prescribed some Acepromazine and that seemed to do the trick. While Derby was still a bit feisty, growling and hissing, the vet could at least get a good look at him.

It worked pretty quickly, within a half hour his third eyelid was showing and he was walking a bit funny. The bad thing is that it will take 6 hours or so to really work itself out of his systems. But for the once a year we need to do this, I am OK with it.

Now we can all relax for the weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello, I'm Virginger, and I am taking over Garden Thursday from the boys. What do they know about the garden, they stay inside all the time. Me, the outside is my home!
Just sitting on the supplies for the inside boys, me, I find a secluded spot in the garden. Mum worked hard this past week and got her flowers together and did her plantings.
The pots for the front of the metal monster room with spikes, vines, geraniums and white petunias and the left overs of the colored petunias.
The impatiences all put into the big tire planter out front. Some of the hanging baskets still empty will be filled with impatiences too.
Flower boxes in front filled with purple themed petunias.
Yes Derby, I see you! Trying to snoopervise from inside. I do a better job being outside.
While we are working outside, we are thinking of all the poor kitties, woofies, and beans, who have been affected by the nasty storms this week. If you can, please consider helping through Project Toto.
It may be run by a woofie, but it is a good thing. Just do it, OK.

See you next week.

ManCat Monday

Cat angels are the reason there are no mice angels. - Mel Brooks

Good ol' Mel, nice for a laugh. If mousies did get to The Bridge, they wouldn't last long.

About PHE, the part that broked was in lots of little pieces, no way to glue together. We had had him for 5 years, so not likely to be able to find another. Here is his first appearance from May 2006.
We had a quiet weekend, mum was home, Ducky sat on mum to make her stay put. Plus that is a good way to get treats. Mum did the usual weekend work, plus hauled some stuff off to the community compost pile. Worked on weed patrol, then sat outside and readed her book. We stayed inside but lots of open windows.
Lots of napping too. Thunder booming storms on Sunday evening but nothing bad, just rumbles and rain.

Oh yeah, we have two batches of baby fevvers, robins and sparrows. Mum hopes to get pictures for us.

Hope you all have a good week.

R.I.P. PHE

We are sad tonight. Our PHE, Phat Flower Eric, is gone. Well not gone, gone but in pieces. Mum had gotten him out of storage to put pretty flowers in him. Thinking of our dearly departed, Fat Eric, our favorite Gorgeous Ginger.
Here is PHE, he has his new flowers all planted, mum giving him a good drink with the flowers, see the hose on the ground. Well....something happened.
Mum got her feets caught on the hose and then CRASH! Mum said some words off of the bad word list.
Goodness his little head was way over here.
Virginger, who was out front during the accident came back to console mum and sit with what remains of PHE. ::sniff, sniff:: Good bye little buddy, go join the real Fat Eric at The Bridge. You will have lots of beauteous flowers to where up there, all the time. Farewell.
Virginger and PHE a couple of years ago in better times.

Garden Thursday

Mum went out and got her summer flowers this week. Most of them are still in the metal monster room, she hasn't gotten to planting them. Here are a couple of the hanging baskets. There are two more in the back, similar flowers and colors.

The hosta's coming up and the little pink phlox that makes a carpet of color.
The pee-o-knees coming up good but not much with flower buds just yet.
Continues to be cool, cloudy and a bit wet, so spring is furry slow here this year. Hope your garden is looking good.

Tuesday, This and That

HiYa, Ducky here. Hope all of you are doing OK. I am sitting on mum waiting to get my share of treats tonight. She didn't share her ice cream earlier!
We saw a pretty blue bird this morning in our garden. Mum say it is a Indy Go Bunting. Wait mum says it is spelled Indigo. Ok, whatever. Isn't he cute!
Mum hauled this thing out of the dungeon, put paper in it and pressed the keys for a few minutes. Then it all locked up. Then she just said phooey on it and will neatly print out the forms she has to fill out. Mum calls this thing a typewriter, a pre-puter, puter thingy. She says it was Grampie's but it is so hard to actually type on it as the keys are stiff, not like a nice puter keyboard.
Behind the typey thing, you can see the grass that mum grew us. She hasn't done this in a long time. I like to nom it now and then.
Derby likes is more than I do. Gotta go, mum says she needs the puter to look some stuff up. See ya.

ManCat Monday

Some say that cats are devils, but they behave badly only when they are alone. When they are among us cats are angels. - George Sand

Yep, that is us Angels.
Not much to report here. Mum was gone all weekend and came home furry late on Sunday. Said she was sorry she was late. She was tired from chasing racy cars around and everything that could have gone wrong did. Said Murphy was there.

Ducky and I slept a lot, but mum had turned off the heaty monster in the dungeon. So to help us keep warm we eated all of the crunchies mum had put out. As soon as she came in the door, it was "MEROWWRRR" fill our food dishes. She did and also got our boxes all spiffy.

We even helped her eat her dinner, chick-hen. Then watched as she plowed through the newsypaper.

Haven't visited much, blogger being bad and mum not being home to turn on the puter. Bah!

Garden Thursday

This Garden Thursday we are going to look at things in the garden that are not plants. A good garden will attract visitors that are just as pretty as the flowers.

ManCat Monday

Cats are very special angels, but they're not angelic. Watch what happens when a flock of birds fly by, beneath the clouds. - Elizabeth Hubbard Hall

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We did! First with my Gotcha Day/Derby Party on Caturday. Thanks to all who stopped by, we had a good time. Socializing, eating and watching the horsies run.
Sunday was Mum's Day and we all spent it quietly. Snoozing, reading, cooking and eating. We got chickhen, ham and ice cream this weekend.

We even saw our Orioles come back for the summer, both Mr and Mrs Oriole stopped by the feeder on the weekend.

My Derby Gotcha Day

My actual Gotcha Day, May 7, is falling on the actual Derby Day, the first Caturday of May, just like it did six years ago I came to live with mum. Wow, time has passed so quickly.
I am so happy for mum giving me a furrever home, all of my furiends that I have made over the past 6 years and yes, for having the runt around to keep me company.
First a big bunch of roses, please make sure you take one home as a souvenir.
Traditional Nip Juleps to drink. Water, toona juice and milk available for the younger set.
Since Kentucky is considered part of the south, southern fried chick-hen and some ham and biscuits.
If you need anything, please ask the waiters, dressed up and tooting their horns! Call to the post.
The buffet table looks great! Let's visit and watch the horsies run around the track.

WINNER - ANIMAL KINGDOM!

That seems like a good pick for us kitties! Earlier in the day an early race had a horsie called Sassy Image. Mum said that would be a good pick, and the longest odds on the board. She won! We usually don't have any luck picking race winners.

P.S. Happy Mum's Day on Sunday to our mum and all the other mums!
