Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday.

If the weather guessers are to be believed we may be getting some cooler weather in the next few days. That means mum can get some more work done outside. She always gets the grass cut and the other day she cut down some of the little trees that are growing where they should not be. Pruned the sucker shoots off of the trees and gave the grape arbor a bit of a trim too.
The tree service people stopped by yesterday and did the treatment of our ash tree for the Emerald Ahs Borer. The injection is good for two years and hopefully will keep that nasty bug away from our tree!
Our ornamental thistle is blooming nicely and we are happy to report that there are lots of bees around the plant. That is a good thing as we need our bees!
You can even see here that one of the flowers was getting two timed! Lots of flowers to go around so be nice and share.
The some of the day lilies from the front of the house. These are only a few of what mum has planted. All looking pretty right now.

That is all for this week. Hope you enjoyed our flowers.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I am a slave to my cats! Long live my cats. - Cheryl Daniels

I hope I can consider mum to be my slave!

Thanks for the tips on seeing the comet. Mum is a long time star gazer so knows about looking for faint items out of the side of the eye. She even has an app on her phone that can help her find things and when she looked at it yesterday and saw what it said the position of the comet was, she thinks maybe she did see it. A fuzzy, faint blob in the sky below the big dipper. She wishes we lived in a place that had less light pollution however.

Mum made pickles, the quick kind you just slice, add sugar and vinegar and let them sit in the big cold box for a few days. Mum says they need to sit another day afore she tries them.
She also cooked herself a really good steak and did eggy plant on the grill on Caturday evening. First time this summer for eggy plant and steak!

Yep, I got some and I got to lick the plate when it was all over.
I'm coming to sit on you mum! I don't care how hot it is, I will sit on you!

That is all for today. Have a wonderful week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Not much going on around here. Mum is doing some cooking, she actually made a soup the other day to try out. Chick-hen Corn soup. Soup makes a nice quick meal even when it is hot.

Miss Megan, you asked about what we call the super hots. Well for me and mum it is anything above 85F (29C) and humid. Now we know there are places that get this hot and more, but for us it is getting to the point of too hot. Mum prefers things a bit cooler, like in the 70's and not much humidity.

Mum has gone out a few times to check for the comet, but even tho she turns off the lights inside for at least 20 minutes to help her eyes adjust to darkness she isn't seeing it. We have a few nearby houses that have outside lights on all the time which makes it harder to see faint things in the sky. If she waits until later when it is darker in the sky the area she needs to look at has gone behind trees. Oh well!

A few nice pics of me to enjoy.

OK, so that is about it. Me and mum are going to take it easy for the weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. The super hots have gone for a few days so some pleasant weather, a little rain. Mum even has come out to the garden after dark a couple of times this week. She is looking for the comet but no luck so far. Tonight it was cloudy in the direction she needed to look.
Here are some of the flowers in the back. The orinch day lilies, cone flowers, the dried allium orbs. The orinch flowers really stand out in the morning sun.
The birds spill enuf of the sunflower seeds that she feeds them and we have lots of volunteer sunflower plants this summer. Here is one of the flowers that has opened up. We saw a goldy finch picking to check for seeds the last few days.
Plus mum moved this feeder and hung it from the crabby apple tree. She found it totally empty and on the ground the other morning. The sqwerls got at it but it is also rusted at the bottom where it broked. Mum will look for a new one to use this winter.
So that is about it for today. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Mini-Mancat Monday

Cats spit on their hands and rub it all over their bodies.

Happy Monday. Hope you all had a good weekend. Mum went off to play with racy cars, but she came home to sleep at night. No staying in a hotel for her. Mum did a couple of moovies of the last race leaving the grid.

Mum also got a pic of one of her furiends son who was racing for the day, mum sent the pic to her furiend so she could see her boy in  his car.
Plus mum came home with some nip toys for me. They came from Miss Dory who you can see in the moovies in her lime green shirt. Thanks Miss Dory.
Three little toys, mum let me have the mousie for now.
OH YEAH. Nice to get a new nip toy to play with!
Have a good week. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. It is going to be a hot one today so we will be taking it easy. It may not be easy Sunday but we will do it anyway!
Just chillin' with my tail all limp with the heat.
Stay cool, stay safe, stay healthy.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. Hope you are all well. Enjoying the warms, we had rain yesterday and it will be steamy today and for the next few days.
Future flowers on our ornamental thistle. This attracts lots of bees, hummers and butterflies.
Fleabane, a native flower which we all need more of in our landscapes for the good of bees and such.
Our grape vine is looking all lush even when though we cut it way back in the spring. We even had to cut it back again as it was starting to grow over the lilac just like other years.
Baby grapes starting to grow.
The naybors day lilies, the usual orange type. Our fancier ones are just starting to bloom. Pictures coming.
We found baby birds in our ash tree, they must have been almost ready to fly out as a couple of days later they were gone.

That is all for this week. Stay safe, stay healthy. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Mini ManCat Monday

Cats keep their claws sharp because they know that just a purr may not be enough.

Yeah, sometimes we need to use a little more than just purrswation! A bit of muscle if you will.

Me and mum had a good weekend and today is supposed to be nice too. Mum is going to get the grass eater out and even off the grass today. She needs to get it done today, the hots will be back in a few days.
The beginning and the end!
I took a look at mum's calendar, seems like a pretty light week of doing not much of nothing and she plans to do it very well. I intend to help her!
Have a wonderful week everyone. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. We had some rain on Thursday evening, so yesterday was a cooler and less humid day. Mum even opened the windows! Plus the fans weren't running either. The windows are open again this AM. Nice and quiet, we can hear the birds singing.

Mum went to see her stabby person this week. She is healthy but found out she has arthur-itis in  her hip. So that is why she is all gimpy first thing in the AM. Once she gets moving she does OK. Yeah mum it is heck getting older.

While mum waited in the room she saw the doc had something to amuse people so mum did a short moovie!
Mum also went out shopping for a new metal monster. She has it narrowed down as some of them are just so big they would take up all the space in the metal monster room. She doesn't like that.

Going to have a nice and quiet weekend here. Mum has a few chores to do,  otherwise it will be reading books and a little moving picture box watching.

Happy Weekend. Stay safe, stay healthy

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. The hots continue here. The only good thing is that the grass doesn't grow much so mum doesn't have to use the grass eater. We did get one big rainstorm on Tuesday. An inch of rain in less than an hour.
Our gerber daisies are blooming again and mum figures something is eating them cuz she found the leftovers of the petals in the planter and on the ground. Mum says we gotta feed the buns this summer.

Plus our lily has lots of open blooms this week. Bright and cheery in our yard for the time being.
Our daylilies are getting lots of flower buds so we will have lots more flowers soon.

Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur

Stay safe, stay healhy.

Mini ManCat Monday

When things go bump in the night, it's nice to know that it's just the cat, exploring the house.

Mum usually sleeps good enuf she doesn't hear me. The other night, well, I did wake her so that she got out of bed and came to see what I was doing! What was I doing? I had jumped up on the counter to get me a drink!

The hots are here and me and mum aren't doing much. She reads and watches the moving picture box. You can see the box picture in the back. MousterPiece Mystery with Grantchester.

Plus I get to occupy mum's lap a lot while she watches. I like that. Plus she got the griller machine going yesterday in spite of the heat. We had chick-hen! Yummy.

Stay cool, stay safe, stay healthy.

Caturday - Happy 4th of July!

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday and Happy Purrthday America. I don't have enuf paws to count how old the USA is but mum says it is lots and lots of years, 244 by her calculations.

Mum had a picnic get together with some furiends the other day. All brought their own lunch, met in a picnic shelter and stayed apart as needed. They enjoyed catching up with each other as they hadn't been face to face since January! They plan to do it again and mum thinks this is the best way to get together with people right now, or at least until the weather gets cold.

Be safe, be healthy!

Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur join me in wishing all of you Mericky kitties a good day. Safe and hopefully not too noisy with the fireworks. Cellybrate but do so safely.

Mum ordered these special fireworks as usual, in that they don't make booms to scare kitties. They are pretty but won't scare you. Mum skips the local fireworks, says the people just get crazy. She watches the stuff on the moving picture box, no driving, no crowds and the noise isn't so bad that it scares me.  Now to honor America, please join in and sing a few songs with us. Sing them from your heart.

God, bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, And guide her
Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains To the prairies To the oceans white with foam, God, bless America, My home, sweet home.God bless America Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains
To the prairies To the oceans white with foam
God bless America

My home sweet home
God bless America....

My home sweet home!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. The hots are here, so mum isn't spending much time outside. She gets her work done, like today she wants to mow at least half the yard. She will do the other half tomorrow.

Plus we have flowers! Nice to have some color around again. First the Gerber daisy has a couple of flowers again. Looks really nice again.

Then also we have the oriental lily that has fully opened one bloom but you can see we will have many blooms to come.

Plus the village sent out peoples to cut some of our tree off. Just one limb as it was hanging over the street and the garbage and recycling truck were hitting it and tearing off leaves and smaller branches and making a mess. So no more of that happening.

So stay cool everyone. Also have a great 4th of July.

Stay safe, stay healthy.
