HiYa Ducky here. Welcome to Garden Thursday. Mum has tucked the girls away for the colder part of the year. That means I get to report what is going on outside for now.
So where to start. I guess here. Someone asked about our fancy amillary and the fact that the arrow was bent. Yep the sqwerls did it. You see the short tree trunk behind, well that is where it just fit, but yep it would get knocked off. So mum has just left it sit on the table.
Mum bought a new pole for hanging fevver feeders on. She got it all assembled and dug the hole to put it in the ground on Tuesday. It is still standing so mum must have done it right. We now have all of our usual winter feeders out now.
We have three poles up and they can hold 2 or three feeders, mum usually just has two per pole, but that can change if needed. Peanut feeder, the flat feeder with sunflower seeds, the tall mesh with sunflower seeds, seed cake, suet square and a large seed cake.
Here is another suet feeder with balls of suet, the woody pecker guys really like this one. Plus mum has two feeders with nyger seed in them for the finches.
Plus mum is trying something new, suet that is just put on the bark of the crabby apple tree like you see below. You can even see the marks where the fevvers have taken bits of it away.
So here is the container and to keep the sqwerls from eating all of this yummy stuff it has hot pepper in it so they leave it alone!
Here are some picks where mum spread some fresh stuff on the tree. Sort of the consistency of peanut butter.
Here is the open container. So you can see what it looks like. Mum bought two tubs of this over the summer to try, seems to be working so far.
Mum did a little bit of cutting down of stuff but still has work to do. Little by little she is getting it done. She figures she has about a month before it totally has to be done. Provided she doesn't do something like breaking something this year.
Oh and mum voted yesterday so that is done. We want everyone to get out and vote as well. We all need to have a say in those who lead us.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, wear a mask. VOTE!
I have never seen Bark Butter before. It is a good idea because it allows the birds that don't go to the feeders to get fed. I would never have thought that birds would like hot pepper!
ReplyDeleteYour birds are certainly spoiled! WE thought we were doing well, but we pale in comparison!

We never heard of bark butter, it sounds like something dogs would like MOL! I was just checking the Captcha Thing, it's still here and this is my 4th try. I think it is something behind the scenes in the blogger code.
