Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger and Glimmer.

Woohoo, we have blossoms on the gourd plants!
Each one of those white things could turn into a gourd if it works out. Mum says she will be happy if she gets just a few.
Here is the whole tangle of plants, mum thinks there are 3 or 4 actual plants.
So if things work out like mum hopes, we may have some gourds!
This is a plant that mum put in at the end of May, it is as tall as the kitch-hen windows! It is supposed to help attract butterflies, but we haven't seen many this summer.

That is all, love Virginger and Glimmer.

  1. We've had some butterflies this year. Some pretty yellow & black ones and some pretty white & black ones, too. And the hummers have been goin' their dinger on the honeysuckle. It's bloomin' late, this year, and the hummers have been appreciatin' that, for sure.

  4. I watched a yellow-and-black butterfly yesterday in the yard, and then realized that I really haven't seen many. Hopefully, we'll get more in late summer. The kitties don't seem to care much about butterflies, but they really don't like the yellowjackets that buzzzz the food bowls! I try to gently waive them away, but more often than not, I'm waiving away kitties too. Mama Mia doesn't like ANYTHING disturbing her munching, so she'll walk away.

  5. We'd love to see some butterflies. The only one we've seen was on the end of a string and we "killed" it.

  7. The garden is moving into mid/late summer phase. Too bad about the butterfly plant, but maybe they will come around.
