HiYa Ducky here and welcome to Garden Thursday. Mum peeked to see how the girls are doing, they are enjoying their rest. Even though the weather has been super nice the past few days and will continue probably through Monday. It is 20 degrees warmer than normal here! WowZa!
Since it has been so nice mum has been taking advantage of that and getting the outside work all finished up. She says she is done hauling stuff off to the compost pile. What little has to be cut down will go on the brush pile for pickup by the village next spring.
Here is the big garden as done as it gonna get. Mum would like to get some mulch brought in but she called her usual spot and they are already closed for the season! Mum hopes she doesn't have to wait to spring but she may have to.
She counted up the stamps on her card, she made 12 trips to drop stuff off since TockTober 1. Wow, that is a lot of stuff. But cuz she never really got stuff done last fall and didn't do much this spring. So really two years worth of cleanup to do.
We had lots of wind on the weekend so it brought lots of leaves down, especially the locust tree. So mum got bizzy on Tuesday afternoon and got most of the stuff blown off that part of the lawn.
There is the pile out in the street and the lawn doesn't look buried.
Then the truck showed up late Wednesday and only picked up this side of the street, and only not even our little pile on the other side of the driveway!
Oh all that good stuff for a compost pile!
ReplyDeleteWowza - your mum has been busy!

Raking leaves is never ending! I bag up a lot and keep them for 12 months to use as mulch the following autumn.
ReplyDeleteThose leaves sure go every which way but they're fun to watch sometimes!
ReplyDelete#1 says there is a whole school of thought nowadays that says it's good to leave the leaves. Or maybe she is just lazy...
ReplyDeleteWe still have a few flowers blooming in our garden but it's getting colder, so probably not for much longer.

Mom needs to get mulch too. She just can't figure out how much she needs!!!

We are leaving our leaves on the lawn for the 2nd year in a row, to help the native insects to overwinter. We don't have much of a lawn to speak of, which is good 'cause I plan on replacing every inch of grass with cool, native plants.
