PURRS NEEDED NOW!

Please send lots of purrs to my little furiend and neighbor Misty of The Crew. She had to have emergency surgery, she ate some thread. She has made it through the surgery but has to recover from this. Updates at The Crew's blog.

The Day After

Thanksgiving went well here. No drama, no big deals. Mum didn't have to get up early, she sort of checked the paper but then went to get Grampie. She made it through the paper, all of the ads and said she would NOT be going out to shop today.

I did get a nice turkey dinner, mum pulled this off the shelf where she keeps my goodies.
I was good and I snarfed up the whole can in sort order. Then I did what the beans do after having such a lovely meal, I napped.
Mum didn't cook turkey but made lunch of ham and hash browns.
I needed to snoopervise the cooking, so it was just right for them. Grampie like the lunch, specially the ham. He has good taste, ham is good.
Today mum really slept in until nearly 8 AM! For her that is really late. She had to check on a few things at work that took all of 15 minutes. Then she read a book, made a big thing of soup for Grampie and more batches of peanut brittle.

Hope all of you had a great hollyday too.

My New (Thanksgiving) Parrot

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. A fun story to relate on our Mericky holiday Thanksgiving. I had e-mailed this out to those of you I have e-mails for, but thought it so good, I needed to share with all.
Recently I received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.

I tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else I could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, I was fed up and I yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. I shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. So, in desperation, I threw up my hands, grabbed the bird and
put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that I'd hurt the parrot, I quickly opened the door to the freezer.

The parrot calmly stepped out onto my outstretched arms and said: "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

I was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As I was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramaticchange in his behavior, the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day. Mum is not cooking a bird for me or us as it would be, but she did bring home some cooked turkey from the store tonight.

Travel safe, don't drink and drive, try not to overeat too much. Be kind to your relatives, you can get through one day with them and they with you. We all have lots to be thankful for, so just 'Give Thanks'.

ManCat Monday

A cat's eyes, blazing fiercely through the dark - a connection to a primeval world we had forgotten. - Author Unknown
I don't quite have full beams on here, but mum caught me cuddled up in the various cat beds. She had stacked them up so she could use the sucking monster over the weekend. She used it lots and lots and got tons of my furs up from the floor.
That is a lot of furs and mum had furminated me just before she started to clean. Plus this was just part of the house!

Feetsball Report

Brett the Jet - Won

The Colts - Playing Sunday night, mum says we gotta sleep before the game is over.

Packers we gotta wait, they play on Monday night.

If you haven't signed up for Secret Paws go do it. The linky is in my last post. Once every one signes up, then DKM will match us up and give us our assignment.

Plus mum says this will be fun week. First since it will be a holliday here in Mericky this week, she won't have to work on Thursday and Friday. Plus that means special foods this week, turkey and all. Yum.

Secret Paw

I signed up for Secret Paws, have you? Find out more here.

You have until November 24 to sign up, that is this coming Monday. It is lots of fun and a good way to share. So just do it.
Plus we are purring hard for more of our furiends. Besides Moki, Momo is now sick with what they think is a virus. The news was reported by Sassy on her blog.
Mum is not taking it easy this weekend. She came home early on Friday, really early from work. Said she took a half day of vacation. She came home and made it to the bottom of her read it pile of magazines. Then she helped me by putting a blog roll on the blog. When we were done we had added in 299, yes you read that right, 299 links to other kittie blogs! Wow! I can remember when we maybe had 29 kitties blogging.

So today mum has been watching birdies outside the big windows. We saw three kinds of woodpeckers, hairy, downy and red-bellied. Plus Mr Hawk played a visit. Mum says the hawk we saw was a juvenile as the breast fevvers were all stripy. He flew away before mum could get the flashy box and take a picture.

Mum says it is about time to read a book for a while. Guess I can go cuddle up with her.

Farewell Friday

This week we have to say farewell to Sissy. She was helped to The Bridge this week. She was the sisfur of Moki, who we all still need to purr for.
So for all of those kitties who have fought and are fighting today is Fierce Fighter Day. Keep it up!

Mum got a surprise when she got home last night. There was a heavy box outside addressed to her. She hadn't ordered anything and didn't recognize the address. It was a nice surprise as it was from her company for Thanksgiving.
I am not sure I want to eat this stuff but mum went 'yum' when she saw this! Her old company never did anything like this!
Me I figured I would take a nap on my nice soft cushion with the gizzy on it.
Time to smooth down some furs that got messed up.
Reposition and back to napping.

What little snow we got as gone away, mum is sure we will get more, but she hopes not soon. Plus hopefully not as much as last year, mum would be happy with a 'normal' winter snowfall of around 40-50 inches. That will be nothing in comparison to last year.

Happy weekend everyone.

Oh s'NO'w

Yep, it came. Snow. This is what it looked like outside on Tuesday AM. Not much, but it stuck.
Mum was happy in that it was a brief, but heavy snow shower which came just AFTER she got home on Monday. She turned on the newsy box and they had pictures of cars sliding and crashing into each other. She was happy she was not part of it.

Mum has sort of started on stuff for the hollidays. But she says each holliday in turn. First we gets Thanksgiving, so stuff for that is out. After that is done, then move on to the Christmouse stuff.

She did make some peanut brittle tonight too. Says she has to take it to work for people to eat.

Keep purring for Moki, he had a big checkup with the VET who said he is in no immediate danger, but still working on why blood in his pee.
Still purring for you little dude.

ManCat Monday

Most of us rather like our cats to have a streak of wickedness. I should not feel quite easy in the company of any cat that walked about the house with a saintly expression - Beverly Nichols
Yeah, that would be me, a little wicked or sassy as mum says it. That is why I am called a sassy cat. Here I am checking out mum while she was looking at her book of stuff when she last went to visit the UK. This was before we met all of the UK kitties, so she didn't visit them.

Mum felt much better on Sunday after getting a good nights sleep. The outside work is done now so the snow can start flying. Mum does not want it to start flying though. Plus all of the chairs and such have to be put away for the winter, otherwise they are in the way. Moving the chairs wasn't the hard part, it was the cutting down the flowers, mowing, winterizing that made her so achy, mostly her legs with all of the walking and such in the cold air. Mum worked outside for over four hours on Saturday. Me, I watched a little bit, then went off to nap.

Feetsball Report

The Pack whipped Da Bear

The Colts beat Texas

Brett the Jet won last Thursday over the guys named Pat

Lots of purrs to Moki and his beans. He is fighting a nasty UTI, blood in his urine and a temperature that isn't what it should be. I joined the nap pile to help warm him up last night.

More Unacceptable Behavior

Sheesh, mum is so busy she didn't even get a chance to let me do a Friday post. Hmph. This is unacceptable mum. I know you are busy at work, looking at a puter screen all day, but I need to show my furiends what is going on in my life and check out all of my furiends.
So here I sit on the couch, being bored.

Mum is not only busy at work, she leaves me alone to go mess about outside all morning. Now all of the flowers are gone, the plants cut down and taken away, the chairs are gone from the patio. That means a good clear view for me to see the fevvers in the back yard.
But when she was done, she came inside saying she was cold and hurting. She sat in the chair for a few minutes and made some strange, groaning noises. Then she went to stand in the hot rain room for a long time. Then she got sensible, she took a nap. I joined her and we snoozed in the bed for a while.

Then it was feetsball time. Bucky played and won today. He beat some gopher that thinks he is golden. Not gold today.
Tomorrow The Pack plays Da Bears. Should be interesting. Plus the last race of the season in crashcar. But mum's favorite won't be winning the season, so she doesn't really care who wins.

Life Lessons From A Cat

Grampie told mum about this article in one of his magazines The Lutheran Witness. Mum read it and liked it and wanted to share it with the rest of you. So go read and enjoy.

ManCat Monday

Cats vocalize in a variety of ways, expressing a wide range of feelings and needs. A high-pitched gurgle, for example, is a friendly sound. When it's combined with a gently but insistent meowing, your being asked for a moment of undivided attention.
Oh yeah, talk to me baby. Pay attention to me, NOW. Mum sometimes swears that I must have some Meezer in my background. There are times I just love to talk.

We had a few of those white flake things flying around in the air. No enough to cause problems. It did get cold enough for mum to wear her warmer jacket today. She filled the birdie feeders on Sunday afternoon, when she came in her fingers were furry cold. I didn't like that she wanted to use me to warm her up.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Forgetfulness

I blame mum for this. It is all her fault.

Blogoversary on Nov 3 missed. That was ManCat Monday. I know there was all of the excitement of the election, but really! This is an important day in my life. You can go back here and see my first post.

We didn't post my dare on Nov 7 either when Karl of The Cat Realm released us to share our dares that we entered into his last dare. What is my dare. Post a real picture of yourself and an intruder that you killed in your house. No photoshopping allowed. I can do it, no claws, you can do it too.
I will have to check out more of the dares and see if I can do some or all of them!

Mum was gone a lot today, she came home with bags from shopping but also bags filled with cookies. She had lunch with some furiends. Visited my shelter for their holiday sale, but only came home with a shirt.

I could smell faint traces of kittens, lots of kittens. Mum says they have lots and lots of them, way more than she wanted to count. But very few adult kitties. She even found two kittens in a cage together sleeping. But one was sleeping on the blankie, the other was snoozing in the litter box. Mum says the box was clean! She even saw a cutie that she almost wanted to bring home! Phew, thankfully for me she didn't bring him home. She said she was another smiley boy and a ginger tabbie.

Finally Friday

Well the election is over and I discovered who cast the ballot for Chey and me. It was Miss Tuxie! She must have slipped out at some point and voted early. She is also waiting to see if Mike ever makes up his mind about a girl friend. It has been so quiet in the house these past few days. No phone calls, very little mail. Just very peaceful, mum and me just snuggling, napping and stuff. Mum stayed up late election night to watch the returns and the final speeches. But she gets mad at the local picture box people who want to show the local stuff when mum wants to see the BIG picture. But happy it is over, she backed the winner and is ready to go for the next four years.

The other thing that has struck mum as we have made it around the Cat Blogosphere, I know our beans come from all walks of life, different levels of income, races, gender etc. But overall it seems we all wanted Mr O to win. That is amazing that so many groups of people came together to support him in his victory.

Mum has moved the campaign button down, but we won't totally delete it. I am proud to have been a part of this election. Chey and I may not have made a dent in the Mericky political scene, but we tried to bring our focus on the issues forward.

Mum is off to visit my shelter tomorrow. It is their annual sale of goodies, so it will be interesting to see what she brings home. Miss Tuxie came from the shelter sale. Also, the shelter now has enough money to start their expansion. Woohoo, lots more room for kitties and other creatures to come.

Plus mum did her part and bought a tribute brick for me. It gives my name and the date I was adopted. When they build the new part these bricks will be outside to show our support.

Happy weekend.

ManCat Monday

Perhaps a child, like a cat, is so much inside of himself that he does not see himself in the mirror. Anais Nin 1903-1977 The Diary of Anais Nin, Vol II
I don't pay any attention to myself in the mirror. I have a water dish on mum's bathroom vanity that has a huge mirror. I just get my drink and leave. I don't worry about what the cat in mirror is doing.

Feetsball Report

Packers - Losted in overtime.

Colts - Lost last week on Monday night, won this Sunday night

Brett the Jet - Won

If you are a Mericky citizen, don't forget to exercise your right to vote! Mum and I are thankful that all of the TV ads and such will go away. No more lies, distortions, half-truths, robo calls etc. Mum says enough with the robo calls, we got three in one day and she just deletes the messages! She won't listen to them.

Awards & Answers

I have been very bad about posting about some awards that I have gotten. I got the butterfly award from Gizmo. I got the "I love your Blog" from Colby, Cheddar and Fancy.Although Fancy was thinking I was a ladycat. If that was true, why have I been posting for ManCat Mondays. I even have my empty hoo-ha sacks. I forgets who gave me this one and mum can't figure it out either. Sorry, it isn't that me, its mum. She is way too busy at work keep up with stuff for me at home some days. I told her she needs to get her act together.
I think these have been around the blogosphere at least once. I know I have gotten a couple of them before. I won't give these to any specific blog, I think we all deserve them.
If I missed anybody else giving me an award, I am sorry. I made mum check back to be sure, I think we got them all.

Answers

Siena of Cats with a Garden wanted to know if moon flowers smelled nice. I don't know and neither does mum. She didn't stick her nose in them to check. They are all frozen now, so we can't check anymore this year. Maybe mum will try to grow them again next year.

Scooby, Shaggy & Scout asked about my picture on Oct 24 if it was coincidence that I had a pink ribbon. No it wasn't. Since October was Breast Cancer Awareness month, that is why we posted. Mum got the ribbon in the mail and we have used it to play. She moves it, I pounce on it.

Plus I won, 2nd place in the Simply Siamese
Frisky Fall Contest. The judges like my entry, cool. I won a prize this spring with my flowers. Now I won for my gingerness! My prizes arrived the other day. I got a neat purr pad and a little nip fish. Thank you to the organizers, Kaze, Latte and Chase plus The Meezers, Sammy and Miles.

Oh yeah, nip, really good nip in a small package. Don't you try to take this away from me, mum.

Mum spent the morning starting to clean up the plants from the garden and hauled them away. She took the snow eating machine in for its checkup too, we may need it soon, hopefully not too soon. Plus she gotted her flu shot today too, so she hopefully won't get sick with that this winter. After lunch, she took a nice long shower, and then a nap. Then she read her book.

Happy Weekend. Don't forget to vote next week if you already have not voted by early or absentee ballot for the Mericky president. I even found an election widget that is now in my side bar. You can download one of your own if you want. Just clicky on the thing where is says download.
