Crochet Time

 Happy Halloween.

Trick or treat locally is this evening. I have my goodies purchased, but have to actually get them ready. I always sort through what I buy to see if there are any pieces that are opened. Maybe save a few of the goodies for myself.

World Series has another game Friday evening. If the Blue Jay's win it is over. I am hoping for a Blue Jay's victory.

Latest blanket I finished during the marathon baseball game on Monday night to early Tuesday morning. Plus with Packers playing on Sunday evening I got a lot done then too.

Blanket yarn is Big Twist Value, Roller Rink is the color. I did a blanket of this color last year. Nice, bright and cheery.

Ducky is doing OK, got some nice pictures of him sunning himself in the front window.

If you are in the US, don't forget to find that hour in the clocks you hid in spring. I have all but one clock reset that I have to do manually. I started with the car on Thursday as that is the one I usually forget.

 Happy Halloween!

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Ha! Monday was interesting. Trivia night and we did very good, second place with 74 points but only three teams this week. So everyone got a gift certificate! Nice of the bar manager to be generous.

Came home to watch the last few innings of the World Series. It was the 7th inning about 9:30 when I go home and the game lasted to the 18th inning and ended just before 2 AM. Yes I stayed up, hope the Tuesday night game doesn't last that late. I should have taken a nap this afternoon, but instead I finished reading a book. Game time was 6 hours and 39 minutes!

What I found out was that the local station that had the game on actually had their news staff stay and do a live news report at 2 AM. Crazy.

Weather is good, slowly getting outside stuff done.

Grace Under Pressure is the first of a series called Manor House Mysteries. Grace is the newly hired assistant curator at a manor house which serves as a museum and high end hotel. When the curator is killed she is suspected of killing him to get the top job. In trying to figure out who did the murder she finds out someone has been trying to blackmail the owner. Interesting book but not enough to make me want to read the rest of the series.

Paper of Wreakage is the story of the New York Post over the past 40 -50 years which corresponds to ownership by Rupert Murdoch. The Post is the longest continually published newspaper but under the Murdoch ear it was turned into a tabloid paper. Authors gather comments from people who worked at the paper during these years. The authors also worked there. Not knowing the paper that well, not being a reader this book didn't do much for me.

Happy Reading.

Crochet Time

Fall is really here, freeze warning was out this past day. I am not worried about keeping any plants alive and blooming any more. My few mums that are in the pot are good until I dump them. I pulled my annuals out a few weeks ago. Still mowing the lawn, chewing up leaves or pushing the heavier piles of leaves into the street for pickup by the village.

Saw the orthopedic people this past week and my hip pain is bursitis, not the hip joint failing. They gave me an injection of cortisone and things feel better. Good thing, sleeping better, less pain.

Got this blanket done last week during one of the last Milwaukee Brewer's game. They lost all four games to the Dodgers to are out of the baseball playoffs. Not really that interested in watching the World Series although I might watch part of a game or two.

This blanket is Big Twist Rave yarn, Lava Lamp is the color. I think I used to have a lava lamp with these colors!

I finally have all of the yarn I had in bags on the shelves. If I counted correctly I have enough yarn here for 23 blankets!

Happy crochet time, Happy Weekend.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Ah yes, I forgot to add in the intro! Too busy doing something else and being off the computer.

More fall like weather, cooler, rain showers. I do need to mow the back yard but not when it is wet.

Watched F1: The Movie at the library on Tuesday. Not bad watching Brad Pitt and racecars for a couple of hours! On a rainy afternoon!

Fur Love or Money the gang at the Second Chance store is working to find out how and who killed Ian Stone. Seems he faked his own death a few  years ago and took off with the millions people had invested with him. Suspect list is long!

Books of a Feather the tenth installment of the Bibliophile Mysteries. Brooklyn and Derek are back in their remodeled loft. Derek gets a visit from an old school chum and Brooklyn is buried in work, all having to do with birds.

If I didn't keep adding more books every month I could probably be caught up in about a year. I read 10 and add 12! Never to be caught up!

Happy Reading.

Tock-Tober for Derby

If he was still around it would have been Derby's 22nd birthday. My original man-cat. Friendly but not a lap cat. He would run to the door when the door bell rang. I think it was because he wanted to get outside!

Kidney issues took him far too soon at the age of 11. He only was with me for just over 9 years. Not nearly long enough. Miss you dear boy.

Ducky's mini Tocks!

Happy Birthday at The Bridge Derbs.

Crochet Time

Some cooler weather, trees are slowly turning colors but I don't think it will be a really good color season. Too much rain, then very little rain, some trees are losing leaves quickly. I am slowly doing the outside yard work and I always start with what HAS to be done, then the stuff that is nice to get done. The HAVE to stuff is done!

Baseball playoffs are not going the way I would prefer. Brewer's have not won any games against the LA Dodgers so far. I haven't been watching much of the American League playoffs.

The blanket below was finished late last week during the baseball playoffs. Right now I am limiting my crochet time to during sports telecasts.

You can see the variety of the colors in the various skeins. While a stripey yarn I didn't worry about keeping the stripes in a strict order and it turned out very well.

Lion Brand yarn, color Fiesta. Very much a fall looking color palate. It has some recycled fibers in it as well. Yarn is available but it is a bit more expensive than I would normally purchase for my projects. This was an  item I found at JoAnn's during their store closing sale.
