As I was looking through the comments on my site to double check if any were stuck in moderation. I do comment moderation to keep the icky guys away and keep those comments off the blog. I found I had hundreds of comments in spam. So many that were legit and I hadn't been checking. They went back to 2006! I worked my way through and pushing them through. The icky ones get deleted.
Baseball team through to the playoffs. Milwaukee Brewers are the number one overall seed. That means they get home field advantage for all series. They play their first game on Saturday and one of my trivia team partners will be there!
Lovely weather continues and nice to have the windows and even the patio door open during the day. This is my ideal weather. Warm enough where you don't need a jacket but not humid. I hope this continues until....well, forever?!
Ripped from the Pages Brooklyn and Derek have temporarily relocated to Dharma while their loft is being remodeled. It is harvest time in the vineyards and an expansion of the tasting cave is underway. Surprise finding of a new cave with all sorts of treasures. Plus a cliff hanger ending.
Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and his Quest to Shape Our World. Phew, long title. Author is the finance editor of The New York Times. Goes into depth about Gates and his wealth, but then expands into very detailed information on how various socio-economic factors affect Gates and other wealthy individuals. Reading this was a bit of a slog and I skipped through parts.
Killer by Design, very interesting book. Author has a doctorate in forensic and psychiatric nursing. She was brought on by the FBI to help them develop their criminal profiling unit when it was started in the late 1970s. Book covers crimes that helped them work through setting up a methodology and how the practice has become standard in terms of police investigations.

ReplyDeleteWill usually end a chapter when I need to break, but sometimes when I'm falling asleep, I just shut 'er down and hope I remember the plot in the morning.
I did that years ago, went through and got rid of all the spam and dug out the good comments. Now I check daily, it helps.
