Resting Weekend

I WON the raffle for the Gizzy Quilt for Churchill from Darling Millie WooHOO. We raised $550 for Churchill. Details on Sunday for the raffle for the Meezers.
It has been nice and sunny this weekend. So lots of sun spots for me to nap in. Stretch too. Ahhhh.
The birdies are hungry little guys this winter. Mum came home with four bags of stuff for them as the cupboard was bare. Mum hopes this load will last through the rest of the winter season.
Plus you can see how much snow we have on the ground and the big pile outside the back door.
But they are saying more of this white stuff is going to come on Monday. Go away snow! We don't want you to visit anymore.

Mum is resting so much she wasn't going to fix dinner at home. But she and Miss Lynn went out and still had to cook their own food. Duh, why go out if you still have to cook?
They had all sort of stuff to put in the hot bubbling oil to cook them, then they eat them right away. But then there is nothing to bring home to the starving kittie! Fish, beefs, shrimps, chick-hen! Nothing for me!
Then for the last part they had fruits and such and put them in.....
Chocolate!!!! Mum says it was yummy. She is stuffed and won't need to eat for at least a day!

Funky Fang Shui Friday

Birdies nearby can cause excitement. Do not jump out of windows, which can cause injury.
This will work for Fevver Friday too. You can't see the type of birdie very well. Mum thinks it looks like a goldfinch. Obviously this picture was taken last summer when it was nice and the windows were open!

It has been a good week. Cold but very little snow which mum is happy about and sunshine too. Plus we could see the eclipse of the moon last night or part of it. Mum had to be on the phone with the other side of the world last night.

My trash pickings are slim from the other day and other times too. Mum doesn't put much in them, like tissues or paper rolls. Otherwise they are pretty slim pickings.

Lap Kittie

Yes you see correctly! The other day I walked onto mum's lap and sat down. For the first time ever.

I have walked across her lap, sometimes even standing on her lap. But I had never before stopped and sat down. I was there for a few minutes, as she had time to reach the flashy box and get photo proof! One picture from the back, the other from above.

Mum's flashy box is rarely far away so she can get pictures all the time. On one of my Funky Fang Shui Friday posts you were worried that my tail got hurt while she had gone off to find the camera. Actually I had been helping her pick out her lunch.
You can see the big wide spot along the bottom and there is room for me. So I don't get squished and the door closes very softly, so my tail was not actually hurting in any way. But mum has to be careful when she goes to look for her foods. I always want to check out what is in the big cold box. I know that yummy things come from in here, like ham, chick-hen, turkey, beefs, cheese and all sort of other yummy bean foods.

It is election day here, mum voted, now we have to wait for the results. At least the crazieness on TV and the phone calls will go away for a while.

ManCat Monday

Checking for any cooties that mum might have missed! I smell and hear things that she doesn't!

First mum says thanks for the birthday wishes. The only bad thing is that she had to get up early so she could go to her meeting. Something about long range planning for the local library. My long range planning is when I can mooch my next treat! But mum said it was a good meeting. She came home for a while, then went to eat dinner with Grampie.

Sunday the weather was yukky again. Rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow. ::sigh:: Mum says that should be ::SIGH:: at least from her. But less snow than they predicted, which was very good

But I teleported down to Florida to be with my M-Cat Club furiends, we even had Sammy Meezer drive as a last minute replacement in the Daytoner 500. Sammy finished 20th. Not bad for a first timer. He beat lots of former champions. Way to go Sammy!

Someone asked if we did the Great Backyard Bird Count this winter. Yes we did. Actually mum participates in Project Feeder Watch, so she does the birdie counting every weekend during the winter. If you like to do birdie counts and watching, you can sign up too. They are still accepting people to sign up for this winter until the end of February. Or wait and sign up for next winter!

Funky Fang Shui Friday

Remember to be flexible, but don't flip flop. Arch your spine to keep supple.
We had more snow on Thursday. Only two inches says mum which is not a lot at one time. The worst of the storm went north of us for a change. But they are talking a big storm again on Sunday. I will teleport to the M-Cat Club's get together at the Daytoner 500 race., my favorite driver is Matt Kenseth, who is from Whiskerconsin. Mum can watch it on TV.

Plus we are getting bothered by election stuff. The primary election in Whiskerconsin is this coming Tuesday. All of the stories on TV, the ads and the phone calls. Sometimes mum answers the phone, then sets it down while the recorded message does its thing. That way they think they got to you. Otherwise she just lets the answering machine screen the calls. We had five of them Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM.

Mum won't let me have a contest like the Piney Woods Cats about when the snow will leave, but is going to try to post a picture of the same spot each week or so. Our little area paper says we have had 80 inches of snow so far. That is taller than mum is and would be about 4.5 gizzy's.

Mum says the weekend will be busy. She has a meeting on Saturday morning. What, a meeting on Saturday? Oh not work related, but she is on a committee at our local library so she will be gone early. The will spend time with Grampie. Oh and yes, its her purrthday on Saturday!

Fevver Friday

This is a picture of Mr Red Breasted Nuthatch. The are cool birds, this one is little but he has a larger cousin who is white. The usually sit head down on the tree. Here is eating some of the suet to get fat to keep him warm.

Happy Valetine's Day My Princess

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone else too. Mum has been busy again with the snow eating machine. Tuesday day she had a late meeting at a different building, it took her 30 minutes to get to the main street from the parking lot (less than a half mile). Then it took her another 30 minutes to drive the other 13 miles! She is glad she doesn't work at that building all the time.

But Wednesday we had SUN. I spent lots of time sitting in the windows soaking up the sun beams. But more snow expected on Valentine's Day. The official moving picture box guy says we have had over 6 feets of snow this winter. I will have to get mum to take some more pictures of the big snow banks.

ManCat Monday

We had lots of sun spots but it was furry cold to be by the windows. Mum and I stayed snuggled all inside on Sunday. We had a little bit more snow but mum did not go outside to move it off the driveway. She said it was way too cold. Yes, we had more snow and more snow is expected this week. ENOUGH ALREADY! Patches suggested selling the stuff to make money. I doubt we could even give it away, one of the local malls tried, they had no takers.

Mum says the moisture will be good for the plants outside, but she too is tired of dealing with all of the snow. Come on spring, we want to have open windows and be able to be outside without bundling up.

Caturday - Mini Squillion Alert

Mum went out this morning and came back with foods and some refugee's from the Green Walls shelter in town. MINI SQUILLIONS!!!!!
Here are our four new family members, two gingers, a gray and a tuxie.
A closeup of the two ginger boys, I think mum will have to let these guys get naked and take off the collars and bells. I don't wear a collar, why should they have to wear a collar.
Here is the whole gang, making furiends already with Virginger keeping everyone together. She has quite a job here.
While Virginger may keep you in line, I am the top cat around here. Don't forget that little ginger kittie!

So if you have been wanting a squillion, go out and check your Green Walls Shelters. Mum says the adoption fees are low and even lower if you adopt at least two of them.

Plus don't forget Squillion Day will be coming up on February 28th. Virginger is very excited about this. A chance for her and all of her littermates to post an update.

Just to give you an idea of what this place looks like, the picture below was taken on January 29, not quite 2 weeks ago.
This is what the same view looks like now after all of the snow. Plus we got 2 inches of more snow Friday night. It is going to get furry cold now too.

Mum and Grampie talked, since it will be so cold tomorrow, they will both just stay home and stay inside. Mum is happy as that means she will have more time to rest tomorrow. That means more time for me to get snuggles and scritches with her.

Funky Fang Shui Friday

Beware of doors closing on tails. The reward might not be worth the pain.
This is me checking out the inside of the big cold box. Mum turned away and the door closed. All you could see what my tail. I am usually looking for ham. Mum always has ham in the big cold box.

The snowstorm is finally over. Mum went outside Wednesday night about 8 PM to use the snow eating monster. By that time the snow had stopped and the wind wasn't so bad. So she cleaned off the snow for the forth time that day. Plus she had to clean one last time on Thursday morning after the plow went by to clear the street. She thinks we got about 13 inches total.

Thursday after she came home from work, she raked the roof of the house, then cleaned up after pulling all of that snow down. Then she shovelled the patio off. Here are pictures of the patio after she cleaned it off. Mum says the top of the piles is about three feet high.
Her little sign on the gate fell off into the snow. She brought in in to be safe. Soon, hopefully, it will be nice enough to put it back on the gate to welcome people to the flowers.
The actual worst of the snow was between me and Bonnie Underfoot and VictorTabbycat in Madtown. Some places got up to 20 inches of snow, lots of people got stuck in their cars on the interstate road.

So where was I during all of this, snoopervising, ummm, well napping and snoopervising.
Ok mum you are finally inside, kick off those wet boots and clothes. Warm up and let's snuggle!

Mum says she wishes she could have a resting weekend, but that isn't going to work. She still has all of the normal stuff to do. Laundry, buying food. Plus Grampie will be coming over on Sunday.

Keeping Up with the Piney Woods Cats

This is what they posted this afternoon about the snowstorm we are going to get. YIKES. It started snowing in the past hour.

We live in the area that says 14-18 inches target area. Mum got more stuff so that the snow eating monster will run. But she says if it is that deep her little machine will have a hard time eating the snow.

Mum also stocked up on food for the birdies today, we had gone through over 160 pounds of bird seed since Thanksgiving. The deep snow and cold weather makes the birdies very hungry.

Mum says it is time to snuggle on the couch. I agree!

UPDATE: Wednesday about 5 PM. I have been napping lots today and watching the birdies at the feeders in the storm. Mum had to refill all of the feeders late this afternoon. The birdies had eaten everything mum put out yesterday!

Mum worked from home, the company even sent out an e-mail to tell people to stay home.

We have had about 10 inches of snow so far. It is still snowing. Mum has used the snow eating monster three times today. Just to have it eat smaller amounts of snow at one time.

Guess we will continue to snuggle tonight.

ManCat Monday

We kitties are good at napping, but remember our ears are still awake!

We had a blast at our first M-Cat Club event for the Stouper Bowl. We watched the game, the ads, had lots of good food and beverages, fun visiting and letting our furs down in a mancat only atmosphere. We even had a few of our UK members drop in, Fat Eric and Eric and Flynn, although they don't know Mericky football at all, they just dropped by to hang out. Eric and Flynn were able to see it on their TV in the UK.

I am furry sorry to all of my blogging furiends who wanted the Pats to win. Darling Millie, Kaze and Miss Peach. It was a good and close game, but it just wasn't meant to be for the Pats.

The Giants took the lead with 35 seconds to go in the game. The Pats tried to get close enough to maybe try a field goal but they couldn't do it.

The ads were OK, nothing that special. I guess I liked Hank the Clydesdale the best myself.

Stoupor Bowl Sunday

I had hoped to be cheering on my team in the big game, but that was not to be. This was supposed to me be cellybrating my team going to the game. I was even modest covering my spots 13 and 14. So I won't have to paint my furs green and gold for the game and get ready to cheer with mum. We will watch, both the game and the ads that they show. Mum and I don't really care exactly who wins the game. We sorta like the Pats, but then you never know about the Gigantic team either. So I will stay neutral. Can't you just tell I am real thrilled about this?! BTW, Happy Belated Groundhog Day. We hope spring comes soon. I have had enough of snow and cold. I want warm weather so that the windows can be open.

We had another hawk attack on late Friday afternoon. It was already getting dark so mum's pictures are not the best. You can see the feathers stuck to the metal cage that covers the feeder. Mum is not sure exactly what type of bird that it caught. Plus by the coloring mum thinks that this is a juvenile delinquent hawk. The breast is different than the mature hawk she got pictures of a few months ago. Here is a picture after the hawk got the birdie out of the cage and you can see a bit of stuff hanging from his beak that he was eating. After Mr Hawk finished eating she went outside to check things. You can see from the above picture lots of feathers on the ground. Mum said there was feathers scattered all around for 8-10 feet.

What was I doing when all of this was happening. Watching very intently from the bird watching spot. Mum was by the door taking the pictures, I was happy I was inside and safe. This morning she went out to check in better light on what happened. It had snowed some so the feathers on the ground were mostly covered. But you can see more feathers on the cage including a little bit of blood. Mum brought a few feathers in for me to see. I sniffed at them to smell the outside. Mum thinks these are most likely feathers from the hawk, due to the size and color. So that is all my excitement for now. Purrs.

Funky Fang Shui Friday

Shadow cat are auspicious on sunny days. Beware of shadow cat on cloudy days. It has been sunny but cold, now it is cloudy and snowy. How about a birdie for Fevver Friday! Here is a Red-bellied woodpecker who stopped by recently. No mum does not eat my treats and I don't eat hers. I only like her stuff when it is ham, chick-hen, beef, fish, tuna and stuff like that. But mum keeps my treats by the couch as that is when she gives me a treat or two while we watch the tv or mum reads a book, or we check out what my furiends are doing.

Otherwise, it has been sort of nothing really big happening. Just hanging out, waiting for the weekend to get here. Oh wait, if its Friday that means the weekend. Purrs!
