Mini ManCat Monday

Take cat, nourish well with milk, and tender meat, make it a couch of silk, But let it see a mouse along the wall, and it abandons milk and meat and all. - Geoffrey Chaucer.

Derby found another invading mousie last week. Mum was on the talking machine and Derby came up from the dungeon and let it go. It ranned around a bit and then mum smacked it with shoe to kill it.
Before she tossed it outside she let me sniff at it. I haven't seen real mousies afore coming here.
About our last post on our sizes between Derby and me. Here is another shot of the two of us eating.
I am two years old and full grown. I weigh 7.5 pounds which is OK for my smaller frame. Derby is probably 2 inches taller than me, wider and longer too. Bigger framed, he is about 15.5 pounds so just over twice my weight.

I gotted my boy bits taken off when I was only two months, so mum thinks that maybe I didn't growed big because I never got much boy juice flowing through my body and/or that I just came from a bunch of smaller framed kitties.

I don't want to get as big as Derby, that would mean my belly would be dragging on the ground and lots of extra weight on my little bones. I will stay the size I am now, I am a lean, agile kittie. I can run and jump better than Derby too, so he can't alway catch me.

We had a bit to watch the fevvers outside over the weekend. We caught Mrs Oriole coming over to get some of the jelly we put out for them. The won't be around much longer they will be moving south again soon.
On Sunday morning when we got up the whole feeder was on the ground, the raccoon family was over to clean it out overnight. Mum had to pick all of the stuff up, clean it, refill and put it out again.

  1. Only one mousie ever invaded my house and I ate it all up. I lost my boy bits when I was one and a half and I am around Derby's size, so you probably just came from a family of smaller cats, Ducky. Watching birds is fun.

  2. We both lost our boy-bits when we were six months old and now we both weigh about 11 pounds. So we think maybe yoo came from smaller cats ~ but small is cute!

  3. Wow! What a great looking mousie.

Charlie had his boy bits taken off when he was 13 weeks old and Thomas has his taken off when he was over a year old. Charlie is the bigger cat.

We're hosting a Super Sunday Giveaway. There is still time to enter. Come see

  4. I love mousies. My human hates them. I think they were invented for cats.

  5. Your mom is brave to smack the musie dead, but I guess she didn't want it still running around alive, so that gave her the courage.

My Mom and Dad saw a baby raccoon in the road on their way home from dinner out, they were a bit concerned about it.

Ducky, I agree with the others who have said they don't think your size is related to when you had your boy bits stolen. You are just meant to be smaller. My human sister is petite and she is FABulous!

  6. Wow, I only get toy mousies, I've never seen a real one!

  7. Both Nicki and Derry lost their boy bits at 5 months and are around 11 pounds, so it's likely genetics, Ducky. :-)

Poor mousie! Our human can't kill them, too squeamish, so she catches the rare one we get and lets them go, away from the house.

  8. We've never seen a mousie except on tv. You guys are good hunters!

  9. All we have here are catnip mousies, which mama says is a good thing. You must be just a small-framed kitty, because I had my bits taken when I was young and I'm a big-framed boy at 17 pounds! ~~Connor

  11. We think you are just a smaller sports-car Cat, Ducky, and Derby is more a HumVee! We have a wide variety of sizes here, too, though we all have trimmed down since we quit eating kibble.

WTG Derby for catching the Mousie! Scouty got a sparrow last Thursday, we were all pretty excited about it.

  12. A mousie!

It's been awhile since any of us caught one. We might get that opportunity one of these days.

  13. Dang! Your mom smacked a mouse with a shoe and Killed it?! Dang.

Our mom screamed like a girl when we saw a mouse in our house. Pumpy and I watched it run across the floor with great indifference.

Dang. We bow down to you.

  14. Our Riley is smaller framed than his two brothers. He's long though.

After the bear showing up at our house uninvited, I took all the feeders in the garage. Only no birds singing made me and the cats sad. So, I put some out in the morning and take them back in at night.

  18. Another mouse?! Gee, you guys are lucky to have those things running around where you are. The mice around here must have gotten the word because they never show up anymore.

  19. Good hunting Derby.
Ducky, we both lost our boy bits when we were 5.5 months old. We are littermates but Eric is much heavier than me (7lbs heavier).

  20. We've never seen a real mouse, but we LOVE to kill our toy mousies...You guys are just purrfect together; everyone thinks Halle is a kitten too because she is very short and only 6.4 lbs, but she is 5 years old...We think she likes being tiny=she flies through the house!! (Sukki is 7.4, Calle is 10, but they are both much longer cats, Calle is just built bigger=she even has very thick skin)...We LOVE our Bird TV too!...Happy week handsome boys...kisses...Calle, Halle, Sukki

  22. WE don't thinks having your boy bites taken off has anything to do with your size. Whiskers was neutered when he was very young and he WAS HUGE. They didn't call him FAT CAT for nothing. He actually wasn't FAT, just very tall and muscular but he weighed 15 pounds. Artemisia is so little she can hide in lots of places me and Scylla can't get to and she is full grown. ~Socks

  24. Wow, Derby is quite the mouse finder!! We don't have any mousies in our house...or if we do, we haven't seen any. And Ducky, we think you are the purrfect size!!

  25. So thankful to hear that Grampie is out of the hospital and doing better once again. We sure do miss out when we don't get to visit. Dad was in the hospital awhile back too and Mom seems to always be busy doing something. Dad is doing better too. Sure wish we would get an invading mousie once in awhile. Would be fun chasing it around. Ducky, real good things come in small packages.

  26. Hmm, the Human feels a little sorry for the mousie but I wish I coulda been there for the kill!

Ducky, you and Derby are both the perfect size!

  27. Oh, Ducky, don't worry sweetie. Big things come in small packages. Srsly.

  28. Hi Ducky! We have all different sizes at our house too - and we think it is great that kitties come in lots of sizes! We have some giant ones (Barney) and some smaller ones (Virgil) but even our small ones are kinda big. Mom thinks our house attracts big cats. We think that you are just the perfect size to be a Ducky!

  30. We like the quote at the beginning of your post...that man knew cats!

We like our fake fur mice and would probably make mewmie scream if we ever brought her a real deaded one!
