HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Me and mum are going to have a quiet weekend, she is even staying home from a racy thing. She doesn't care for the group that runs the event.

Also Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day to all of my furiends who are a black cat. But remember one thing my furiends.....

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. A few pics from our own garden to start. The oriental lily, all bright and orinch! The best color to be around here.

Then lots of our coneflowers. When mum bought them they were advertised as white, we now have some stems that bloom white, others purple. Either way they are purrty. Plus the inside design of the flower is cool if you look at the pattern on them.

At the community garden yesterday mum left the house and it was dry, then showers hit on the way there. So she picked peas and beans in light rain showers. The other lady started to harvest the tomatoes and cucumbers. Plus they noticed the broccoli heads were gone and it looked like someone had cut them off.

ManCat Monday

Umm, I don't think I have destroyed anything while I have been here. I am a good kittie. However I do remember being told by Derby that mum threatened him with caticide for breaking her Galileo thermometer. You can read all about his exploits here!

Me and mum had a quiet weekend. She did go out to eat on Caturday with Miss Lynn. They went to a place they hadn't been to in a while. She brought chick-hen home as leftovers. Yum. We haven't eaten them yet. Mum didn't want to eat chick-hen two days in a row. I don't know why not mum, it is good for me, I mean you.

Don't hold your breath on seeing me in a finished hat. Mum has tried to get a pic with me in a hat many times. She has failed and will continue to fail, cuz I don't want to wear a hat.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday, Happy Weekend. Ours is starting out nice, the weather is good, the windows are open. It will be warmish today and maybe some rain showers.

 Early morning, the best place to be is in the front windows. Taking advantage of the gentle breezes and the sun puddles that will come. Put away the flashy box, you are disturbing my nap.

 Mum went on an expedition Friday to a bigger yarn shop and this is what she came home with. The brown stuff will go good with our new chairs, the colorful stuff will go good with the chairs too! MOL! Mum always likes the colorful stuff. She likes this store as it has more colors in stock so she can see them in purr-son. She doesn't like to buy stuff she hasn't seen.

 So she will start working on this stuff once she finishes the hats. She is down to this last thingy of yarn, then she is done with purple hats. She will have met her self imposed quota.

 So you all want to see me with a hat on, well the hat is just started, so really doesn't cover my head. I am OK with that. Looks like a yamaka, no mum says it is spelled yarmulke. Maybe I am a Jewish cat? Oy!

You all have a wonderful weekend me and mum are planning on having one too.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. A full week into August, still warm but not super hot so that is good. We got rain, but not nasty storms this past week. The nasty weather is staying up north.

Mum picked all of the ripe eggy-plants. Now she likes this stuff but not this much. So she saved a few for herself and donated the rest to the food pantry. Still a few ripening on the plant, but not many more. Plus mum is not seeing any new blossoms, so not sure if we will get more later.

The community garden was easy again this week. Water and harvest. It was only mum and one other person who she likes to work with. So that made it a good day to work and only 2 hours of her time.

Even the grass is beginning to grow slower, so mum doesn't have to mow the lawn every week.

ManCat Monday

Yeah, well, we all need to have a vice or two. I won't tell you what mum's vices are, well, one is chocolate!

We had a quiet weekend. Mum worked on making hats, she is almost done making as many hats as she challenged herself to do. So she is starting to think what her big winter project will be.

The pickles turned out fine. Mum had some last night with her dinner and put them and some of the onjuns on her burger..

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Woohoo, it is Caturday and mum is finally letting me at the puter. Going to be a nice day again. Maybe finally the really hots and humids have gone away.

 Mum bought some of these green things at the store, along with an onjun to she could make pickles in the big cold box. They have to sit for a couple of days to get good, then she can eat them. She didn't make a huge batch like she has. So they won't last as long. Plus she added in a little bit of garlic.

 I won a book from Max the Pyschokitty and it arrived this week. The book isn't about him, he just gave it away.

 

 So mum sat down and readed me the book. Seems Max is a cat who likes to attack EVERYTHING! I just attack selected things and then just when I want to.

Mum is going to pass the book along to her little grandniece who should be about right for a book like this. Mum? did you put this on your list of books you read? You know they don't all have to be 500 plus pages to count. Yeah, mum reads big fat books.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday and to the month of August. Wow, the summer months are flying by. The hots and humids are gone. People can actually enjoy being outside and the windows are open on the house.

Mum gave the grape vines a huge cut. This is all of the stuff she cut off. Then you can see how much she trimmed off. You can see underneath now.

Guess what? We have grapes this year! The last couple of years, no grapes!

Mum is also happy as she sees a large number of bees this year and not just the bumbly bees. She is seeing honey bees! That is good. She can get all close up to them to take pics and they just keep getting their foods from the flowers. Last week she even saw one where you could clearly see the pollen stuffed into the pockets on the back legs.

Plus the weekly trip to the community garden. Mum likes it this time of year, not much to do other than water stuff good, she usually waters the veggies and harvest stuff.

Peas, beans and a purple pepper, then a cucumber and a green pepper.

Plus she took some of her eggy plants over to donate too. Growing so well that she is getting more than she can eat herself. Another meal with eggy plant will come today.

Here are some baby squash starting to grow. lots of blossoms so they hope they get lots more.

Plus the broccoli is starting for the heads that you can eat. They won't be ready to harvest for a bit.

Plus we had something try to eat the eggy plants while they were still on the plant. Mum picked those off and tossed them into the rest of the plants so the critters can eat them.

ManCat Monday

Mum likes to do puzzles, but she is still figuring me out! The hots are still here, but mum was brave and did go and do racy cars. Thankfully where they were has two big trees so they could sit in the shade, nice breezes both days and they bring them a very large jug of ice water to drink from. So she did just fine.

 I was sitting on the back of one of the new chairs when she got home. Once she sat down, then I sat down on her!

 Mum saw this sticker on the back of one of the racy cars. She just took the picture, she didn't touch the car. She didn't want to tempt fate.

Plus she found this leaf, one of many, under the oak tree they sit under. She wants to figure out why some of the leaves of the tree were doing this. She will let us know if she figures it out.

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Going to be a wonderful weekend here at Casa de Ducky.

 Mum grilled some shrimpies last night. She did the whole package so then she  has shrimpies to add into salad or pasta. Make all sort of nommy stuff. Yes she has given me some tastes.

 Mum is still working on hats. She actually got one on my head, but I shook it off afore she got a pic. I will not allow myself to be demeaned by getting a pic with a hat on.

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. We also survived the hots, back to nice weather, not so humid and just lovely to be outside.

A couple of things to let you know. The cicada's we hear are the ones that come every year. They are not the type that come only every 17 years like a plaque of locusts.We are on the very north edge of their area, at least so far. Maybe as global warming comes we will get more. They aren't due back, if they show up for another 5 years.

Mum thinks she can pick some of the eggyplant to eat in a few days. She will take pictures when she does and we will show you them, cooked and uncooked.

 A few more of our lovely day lilies. Mum even did a few wide shots so you can see how they are looking together.

 

 

This week again was a quiet one at the community garden. Making sure everything got well watered, mum even went over on the weekend on Sunday to make sure they looked ok. We got enough rain last Caturday so they were good and the storms hadn't done any damage. Mum didn't take pics but said she saw three baby pumpkins starting to grown, they are for making pie, not for jack-o-lanterns.

Then mum came home and pruned off stuff on the maple and ash trees. The maple  had all sorts of sucker growth on the lower areas, the ash had low branches that mum had to duck under to use the grass monster.

Tuesday This and That

All is well in Ducky land. I was not at the stabby place visiting the VET, it was just mum trying to find pictures of my looking mad. That was a pic from back in February.

This is a pic from yesterday. As you can see I look just marvelous!

Mum readed a big book all in one day, something about crawdads singing. We hear the cicada's singing these days. That means we are getting to the end of summer.

ManCat Monday

MOL, mum was searching for a nasty look from me, but wasn't finding a really good one. I guess I don't give her funky looks that often. Although this is my look from the PTU when I first arrive at the stabby place.

 

 

 This last one I had been showing her the back of disrespect. Not sure why though!

The really hots are gone which makes both me and mum happy. We had rain storms go through on Caturday afternoon and after that it was much better. We even had open windows on Sunday, so nice to hear the birds singing in the morning.

I was about to declare an emergency here. Look at the sorry state of my food bin! Empty, I say, just empty. Just a few minor crunchies on the bottom of the bin.

 I guess I should know better, mum is prepared and had a bag ready to open up stored in the metal monster room. She just needs to open it up and pour it in. Ahhh. my tummeh will be full.

Mum went out to eat and for a change came home with leftovers and it was fishy! She had this for dinner last night and I got to sample some of the fishy as well. That made my tummeh happy too.
