Happy Purrthday America!

Happy Purrthday to our country, the United States of Mericky! Mum has more fingers to figure it out, says the country is 243 years old. That is a whole lot of years!
Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur join me in wishing all of you Mericky kitties a good day. Safe and hopefully not too noisy with the fireworks. Cellybrate but do so safely.

A quick Garden Thursday note, we actually have blossoms on our eggyplant! Woohoo, maybe mum will have some to eat soon. Mum counted 5 blossoms the other day.

Mum ordered these special fireworks as usual, in that they don't make booms to scare kitties. They are pretty but won't scare you. Mum skips the local fireworks, says the people just get crazy. She watches the stuff on the moving picture box, no driving, no crowds and the noise isn't so bad that it scares me.  Now to honor America, please join in and sing a few songs with us. Sing them from your heart.

God, bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, And guide her
Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains To the prairies To the oceans white with foam, God, bless America, My home, sweet home.God bless America Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains
To the prairies To the oceans white with foam
God bless America

My home sweet home
God bless America....

My home sweet home!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

  2. Happy July 4th!
Our state has new restrictions on noise and fireworks, which has diminished...so far...the times I jump outta my skin when a big boom goes off! Thank goodness.

  5. People go mental with fireworks here. Why they aren't outlawed for private use is a mystery--we're in prime fire season, for pity's sake! Mom can't imagine a war vet having to deal with all the noise. :-(

We didn't know there were so many verses to AtB.

  7. Hi Ducky! Hope your 4th was fabulous and other than having to listen to my Mom TRYING (!) to sing along (my poor ears!) I loved your post for the 4th.

    Hugs, Teddy
