You want me to answer what? MOL!

Quiet time here at Case de Ducky. It was super nice here on Friday, then it got all stormy at night. Froggy and rainy yesterday. Me and mum didn't do much. I napped, mum readed her book and did her crow-shay. 

One thing with the warms I then like to use my tower. Mum caught me napping but I woke up afore she could get a picture of me. 

Mum did use the grass eater this past week, at least on part of the outside that was growing. The trees are getting all green too.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Hey, I remembered to update with a few notes. The weather is getting nice, the early spring bulbs are about done, lilac is getting close to opening flowers. 

Busy with activities other than reading, moving into that time of the year. Things to do at home and away from home. Like going out and playing with racy cars. I maybe do a half dozen events, but 40 years ago it was a dozen or more! 

Last post of April for books, where is the time going.

Prequel, Rachel Maddow's look into the people and actions of the 1930s and 1940s in which people in the US chose to support fascism and the Nazi's. This included many elected officials, people who supported Germany, who wanted the US to stay out of any European conflict and those against the Jews. 

Not an easy read, but well written. It also brings forward of how much history we never really learn. In school you get a very high level overview of things, touching lightly on the major happenings of the period and moving on. 

It also is a comparison as to how things are today and what is happening again with those who want to support totalitarian government.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I had lots of time to contemplate this weekend. Mum abandoned me! Yeah, that time of the year and she is off to play with racy cars. 

She left on Caturday morning and left with me with lots of foods and made it back home by early Sunday evening. I didn't even eat all of my foods. Mum freshed it up as soon as she got back. 

Mum saw this container and got closer to look. Hey, those aren't treats inside but kitty litter! Kitty litter!? Why do they need that? Cuz sometimes those racy cars take a leak! MOL. 

 So once mum got home and did her thing. I sat on her and we watched the moving picture box. 

So, mum is resting today! I don't blame her!

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

 Hello, and once again I forgot to update this before it published. Brain fade!

Had several really nice days in a row, warm enough to have the windows open. Trees are opening up their leaves too, so a tinge of green on everything. Grass is growing too and two guys in the neighborhood have already mowed the lawn.

Plus as I do this I just heard a rumble of thunder. Fire danger has been higher than usual, so rain is welcome to keep threat of fire down. 

Always time to read, so more books!

An Appetite for Murder is the first in a series, Key West Food Critic, by a new to me author. I'm not sure why but I couldn't get into the book, I think it was the story. Too many things happening that didn't seem super plausible to me. At the end the detective is taking out the food critic. Another she helps solves crimes with the boyfriend. I won't continue with the series.

The Girl Who Took What She Wanted is the latest Stewart Hoag book. The story is one that occurred back in the 1980s. Hoagy is hired to ghost write for the latest reality star, Nikki Dymtryk. Not a memoir, but a steamy romance novel. Will writer and reality star hit it off or is this project dead before it begins.

The White Lady is Elinor White, aka Elinor De Witt, an ex-spy, saboteuer, resistance fighter through both World Wars. Now trying to live a quiet life in the country, her past is continuing to trouble her.

The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre, Alix is an orphan who is raised by but not really part of Hollywood. After finishing school in Switzerland she gets a PR job. She returns to the US and does PR to get women into the workforce. Then recruited to join the OSS taking on many missions in Europe. After the war she joins the newly opened Christian Dior salon as their PR person and searching for La Voce who sabotage a mission which killed numerous agents.

The following was in the book The Girl Who Took What She Wanted. Priceless!

Mini-ManCat Monday

Sleeping together is a euphemism for people, but tantamount to marriage with cats. - Marge Percy 

Me and mum had a marvy weekend. It got all super nice and that meant wide open windows on both Caturday and Sunday!

Mum did a bit of cleaning and moving stuff in the metal monster room, looks pretty good. She rewarded herself by using the griller machine to make grilled beast and yep, she shared it with me! Plus cheeseburgers on Sunday! YUM.

 Sunday was also super nice. She opened up the front window to bring in lots of fresh airs for the both of us. 

Even a short movie to show the nice breeze that we were getting. Mum left the windows open until bedtime!

Mum says don't get used to this as it will cool off a bit, and also some rain in a few days. It sure does feel good for now. Made both me and mum happy.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Survived the eclipse! You could tell the sun shine had a different glow about it and inside was much dimmer too. Like on a very cloudy day with no lights on inside. My best pic that I took!

Weather is beginning to be nicer. Sun and more seasonal temps. Got the grill moved out to where I can use it. Just need to get something to grill on it! See what I can pick up when I got shopping in a few days. 

So less time for reading but I still usually get some reading in every day. Less checking out 10 books at a time, more like 5 or 6. 

A Certain Darkness, next installment in the Verity Kent series. Verity and Sidney to to France, Holland and Belgium to find some missing documents. Documents that might shed light on incidents during World War I. Others are after the same, are they working for or against? Is there a double cross?

The Villa two BFF's, both writers take a holiday to a villa in Italy. A villa where a murder occurred in the 1970's with some rock musicians and their female companions. The ladies from this write a best seller and the other a fantastic album. Can the two BFF's figure out what all went on?

Koala could have been titled Everything You Wanted to Know about Koalas! Informative, very readable, but could have used diagrams, pictures and photos to illustrate what the author was referring to!

Windfall is the author's story of researching her great-grandmother, who as a young single woman, had a tract of land in far northwest North Dakota. The family still owns the mineral rights, could this be a windfall financially for them? Author relates not only her great-grandmother's story but her own in researching the past.

Oath and Honor, Liz Cheney's book in regards to the January 6 committee. Much of the early part of the book was about the actual incident, the later on the committee investigating. Interesting read.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I don't think Uncle Stormy could be converted. He is just anti-feline! This is mum's bro. The times he has come to visit, I could never get a pet from  him, at all. Oh well, his loss. 

We had a hawk attack this past week. Mum was actually around to get some pics. One less dove! We watched as the hawk took off the fevvers, then fly away with the good stuff. 

 

I'm just hanging out with mum while she watches sports and stuff and works on the crow-shay or reads her books. She even did a tiny bit of outside work, just picking up the sticks that fell from the tree the past few weeks. 

Purring so all those who want to see the eclipse today. My Aunty Kellie is one of those who traveled to see. Me and mum hope she gets to see it. Maybe we can get to see the partial here. Hoping the clouds go away.

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

 Hello.

The weather decided to be icky again this week. Rain and lots of it, so heavy that there is ponding on the other side of the trail. Snow expected Tuesday into Wednesday. Tuesday was also election day, so I had to go out in the mess, at least briefly. Perfect for being inside and reading the rest of the day.

Plus lots of sports, so time for crochet too. Opening day for the local baseball team, thankfully we have a stadium with a roof. I think I may need to do a separate post just for my blankets once I am done with them for the summer.  

My total of books for the first quarter of the year is just over $1200 dollars. Probably about average for the year so far.

Paws to Remember the latest book of the Magical Cat mystery series. Lucy is helping to pull damaged wall board down and they find a body! Who is she and who killed her?

The Girl Beneath the Sea Sloan is a police officer who specialized in diving to get evidence from bodies of water. Somehow she is thought to be a suspect in a crime. Very much a thriller. This is the first of a series but I don't think I will continue with the series.

A Crack in the Edge of the World is about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake but not only about San Francisco. The author is a geologist and looks at the geology behind earthquakes and how geology affects them. This is a non-fiction books. I've read other books by this author and enjoyed them. My favorite is The Map That Changed the World. 

I guess I am a quitter. I do use bookmarks, with the exception of shorter books I can't do them in one sitting. I have too many other projects.

I do go to bed a reasonable time. I'm an old lady, I need my sleep.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I found one quote with the word fool in it for April Fooling Day. Don't get fooled! 

Hope everyone had a good Easter. Mum was did buy some new chocolate but not much. Heck, she found stuff a month ago she got last Easter, MOL. Too much candy mum!

Mum did make a nice meal and shared it with me. Ham, glorious ham! Plus there is lots left for more meals. Yum. 

 I helped mum with the crow-shay while she watched sports this past week. Basey ball is back, bracket ball continues and of course some racy cars too. 

We didn't see the cat again, but the food mum put out when away, likely the squirrels ate it and it took them days to actually eat it. Mum also saw a fox this past week as she was driving to go do her workout. 

The snow we got is gone and we hope we have seen the last of it for many, many months.
