ManCat Monday

Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a function. - Garrison Keillor

Hey, I have a function. It is to fur everything I can with my furs. I am very good at doing that. Plus it is to purr on mum as needed.

Me and mum had a marvy weekend. The weather got cooler and less sticky. Mum could open the windows and we enjoyed the fresh air. Mum did work in the yard, as well as reading and doing a bit of crow-shay on hats.
Above, me basking in the late afternoon sunshine in the kitch-hen windows. Unlike Derby I don't lay on the table. Me, holding mum down later in the evening while she was watching the moving picture box.
We are supposed to have a few more nice days afore the hots come back. Have a good week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Hope all my US gang survived the 4th, 5th etc. We didn't have anyone close setting off fireworks, so the booms were far away. Mum watched the big fireworks on the moving picture box, they weren't super noisy. I went into her sleepy spot and sat in the window for natural fireworks, FIREFLIES!

The hots are gone for now, not supposed to be so hot or sticky today. That means mum has to get out and do work outside. Time to get the grass eater out and pull a few weeds! Mum says the weeds are almost winning this year. Almost.
Some guys came late Monday afternoon and gooped up the drive. Mum says they were resealing it to keep the water out of the cracks. It lasts longer then.

All done with the metal monster parked in the street. No driving on the new stuff for a day. We should be good for another 2-3 years.

The one nice thing with summer is that I get such wonderful sun puddles in the front window in the morning. A wonderful place to snooze, just protected by the curtain. Still mum takes pictures.
Yes, I heard the flashy box. I'm awake now. Thanks for disturbing me! Oh well, mum feels she needs to document my naps. Not all of them, just the cute ones.
Happy Caturday, have fun and be safe.

Happy Purrthday America!

Happy Purrthday to our country, the United States of Mericky! Mum has more fingers to figure it out, says the country is 243 years old. That is a whole lot of years!
Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur join me in wishing all of you Mericky kitties a good day. Safe and hopefully not too noisy with the fireworks. Cellybrate but do so safely.

A quick Garden Thursday note, we actually have blossoms on our eggyplant! Woohoo, maybe mum will have some to eat soon. Mum counted 5 blossoms the other day.

Mum ordered these special fireworks as usual, in that they don't make booms to scare kitties. They are pretty but won't scare you. Mum skips the local fireworks, says the people just get crazy. She watches the stuff on the moving picture box, no driving, no crowds and the noise isn't so bad that it scares me.  Now to honor America, please join in and sing a few songs with us. Sing them from your heart.

God, bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, And guide her
Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains To the prairies To the oceans white with foam, God, bless America, My home, sweet home.God bless America Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains
To the prairies To the oceans white with foam
God bless America

My home sweet home
God bless America....

My home sweet home!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

ManCat Monday

I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior. - Hippolyte Taine

Happy July 1. Today we cellybrate our naybors to the north. Happy Canada Day to them. We had an OK weekend. Hot, humid and a bit of storms, but not so much that we had damage by us.

Mum got out early yesterday and did her errands afore it got all hots. Then she stayed home with me, watched some baseyball.
Lots going on this month, we need to have fun, but while we are having fun, we don't want to get lost or run away from home. With the scary boomers fireworks some cats and dogs may want to run away from home. We don't want that.
Also we lost sweet Binga over the weekend. She made it to the grand old age of 19. We send comforting purrs to her family.
So, this week we will take it easy. Mum doesn't have too much scheduled cuz of the holly-day. Good, she can stay home and snuggle with me. Happy July.

Caturday

HiYa  Ducky here. Happy Caturday.

Thanks for all the wonderful purrthday wishes and for stopping by. I had a wonderful time with all of you and I hope you had a wonderful time too.

I am taking it easy today. Oh, what am I saying, I take it easy every day! Mum not so much. She got out early and used the grass eater. Wanted to get that done afore it got hot today. It will be hot and sticky outside today. So she is done with that, drinking some cold water, then into the shower to clean up!
Even my vet guy sent me a purrthday greeting. How nice of them to amember me.
Me resting, yeah, I will be doing lots of this today. Maybe I can convince mum to come and take an extra nap with me too.

To cool us all off, mum pulled out a winter picture. No, I don't want it that cold. Mum prefers the 70's with not much hum-did-ity in the air. Fall is her kind of weather.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Purrthday!

WooHoo, I made it through another year. So that means I have been around now for elebenty years. Not bad for little old me! So, you know I have to cellybrate. So, settle in to PAR-TAY! Lots of foods, drinks and staff to get whatever you want.

Lots of meat and fishies. Buffets of all sorts of goodies. Don't eat too quickly, there is more than enuf to go around. The chefs will make more if we need it.

Lots of drinks, with and without nip infusion. Kittens, remember you only get milk or water!

Plus we can't have a purrthday without cake! So mum got three of them in so that you can have more than one piece.

So party one everyone!

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. Mum was looking back and found a few pics we didn't post. So since not much new is happening in the garden right now, we will share these.
Mum found one lily of the valley plant that actually had flowers. She was happy, she says this is one of her favs from when she was a little girl. She loved to pick them and loves the smell.

Then our climbing rose. Mum cut out a bunch of deaded stuff so at least it is green and it took furrever to see flower buds this spring. Now blooming.

Plus a new shoot coming up on the other side of the fence. Mum has to be careful not to mow this off!
Stop by  tomorrow. We are cellybrating Ducky's purrthday! Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Tuesday This and That

Me this AM in the front window. Mum hadn't opened it yet, she keeps it closed overnight. It may not get opened for long, going to be a hot and sticky day.

Mum did her charity event and she was home early! Seems they had no after party this year. Matter of fact the whole event wasn't that well attended with only 62 cars, usually it is more like 162 cars! So sort of a dull event. Half the cars were in one of the four groups. It rained. A couple of guys broke their cars and one brilliant guy with a Furrarri ran out of gas! Duh!!!
Yeah it rained. Around lunch time, so most of that time mum could stay dry in their little shed. The afternoon you could see the thunder boomers coming in. Things were just about done, so they didn't get wet here. The jumped in the car and came home. Mum's furiends picked her up, she didn't even have to drive!

They got a small bag of popcorn in their goody bag. Plus a lip balm, otherwise no good stuff and she is bummed on the no after party. That is when they get to stop and chat with everyone! New charity this year, maybe they didn't promote it well enuf!
Mum says she is almost ready for a nap this morning. She had a bizzy day yesterday.
