Mini-ManCat Monday

Heaven ... would have to be a place lined with cat bellies. - L. F. Hoffman

Me and mum are getting frustrated with blog stuff. So many of you are having problems seeing and/or commenting here. So mum is looking to move on to another site. We will continue to be here, for now.

Not much going on, summer is fading away. Daylight time is getting shorter, the skeeters are bad. The grass keeps growing and mum keeps mowing.

I am doing my zen meditation in the front window.

Have a good week everyone.

  2. Oh Ducky, we had rain yesterday, and it was sorely needed.
The Hubby hasn't had any grass to cut, because it's burned out.
Someday, I hope to have NO grass, just wildflowers and native shrubs.
I had a problem commenting on a Wordpress blog, but have now figured that out.
Hope your problems get solved without too much hassle.

  5. Mark's Mews - Hope the new site works out for you. We are following the emails too, BTW.

Aside from that, there is something called a mosquito dunk. It comes as a doughnut or in pellets. It is comprised of bacteria that activate in water and attack mosquito larvae (and nothing else). They aren't expensive and work great. Each application lasts a month.

I have a 5' pond that gets a 1/4 doughnut and I crush the rest of it to sprinkle in potting saucers and some trays of water I place outside in a few places to attract female mosquitoes to lay eggs there.

I use it year-round, but the best times are at the end of the warm season (like 40F and pre-frost) when the mosquitoes are laying the kind of eggs that will survive Winter (yes there are different ones) and when the Winter ends above freezing.

The end of season deaths reduces eggs and early Spring gets a lot of the Winter survivors. The fewer that develop in early Spring, the fewer in Summer. And mosquitoes don't travel far (something live a 100' radius). So if you reduce them, you will sure have a lot fewer.

  6. That is such a beautiful picture of you, Ducky! We have not had any problems with Blogger and are keeping paws crossed that things stay this way.
