Mini-ManCat Monday

In my house lives a cat who is a curmudgeon and cantankerous, a cat who is charming and convivial, and a cat who is combative and commendable. And yet I have but one cat. - Dave Edwards

And we cats can be all things to many people.

Mum washed my nice little cat cup yesterday said I had yakked on it inside and out and it was time to remove the crud. So all of my excess furs were removed first, then everything was taken apart. Oh well, it is nice to have a clean beddie, but lots of work to make it mine again.

Mum did some outside work on Friday. She cut down lots of weeds and discovered she  had nice blooming plants behind them. Mum hates to weed but these were thistle and they have made lots and lots of seeds. Look at those balls of fluffy seeds, all ready to blow around. Mum hauled most of this stuff off to the compost place.

So here is what was hiding, lots of bee balm and the bees were liking it but then mum saw on Caturday that the hummer birds were liking it too. She said she saw three hummer birds at one time!

Now the above is also a thistle, but a tame ornamental one. The bees love this plant too. Plus the birdies are having a good time planting sun flowers from the feeder. We get lots of these right near the feeder. Mum doesn't mind as long as she can get at the feeder to fill it when she needs too.

Plus mum said our robin came back, made a new nest and now we have baby birds. She saw the mum feeding them on Caturday. She hasn't gotten a picture yet.

Hey, this is my blog, not the garden report! Where is my handsome face?
Plus mum was reminded that ten years ago was the 'Lympics and I entered the high jump and won a gold and a silver medal! Wowza. I used to be a jumping cat, now, no so much. Mum tried to find the video and she did and managed to get to load up here! Woohoo.

Plus here is the original post from way back when!

Plus we have a new month to cellybrate. Happy August.

  1. You were a good jumper, Ducky. It was nice to find the flowers behind the thistles.

  2. Oh wow! We had forgotten about the Catlympics! Thanks for that bit of nostalgia. We enjoyed the flower and bee shots but of course, it is your face that is the loveliest, Ducky!

  4. Goldfinches like thistles too. We don't seem to have any this year, but we don't have any big thistles either. We don;t have a lot of thistles but we usually have a few.
