Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. Hope all of you are well. We had a beauty-full weekend, nice and warm, sunny. A few cloudy days since but the weather guesser says it is going to be cold this weekend with frostiness.

The two-lips are blooming. We don't have many two-lips these days. Mum says she will buy more bulbs in the fall to plant for next year.
The hostas are coming up really nice as well. Looking good and giving a nice bright green touch to the front of the house. Mum also spied that the lily of the valley plants survived and are coming up.
The maple tree across the street is already getting real leaves on it. Another spot of green.
A corner of the lawn, all freshly mowed on Monday. This was where the snow got all piled up and it looked pretty rough in March. Looks good now.
The brush pile by the metal monster room. All of this and more mum will have to get carried out to near the street for pickup next week. Gotta have it out by Sunday. Mum was inspecting the crabby apple tree and can see some deaded stuff to add. Plus the grape arbor needs serious work.
Plus the lilac bush in front is showing baby flowers. Mum can't wait until they open. She loves the smell of them. AHHH.
Some of our late spring birdies are showing up. Made it here last Caturday. The Baltimore Oriole and the Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Mum actually saw the females first early in the day, then the boys showed up.

Miss Megan, yes you have Cinco de Mayo (aka Stinky Mayo Day) where you are. It is just the 5th of May in Spanish. Now it gets cellybrated here cuz we are close to Mexico where it commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867).  It’s a holiday not celebrated much in Mexico though…but here in the U.S., it’s become an excuse for the day to eat Mexican foods and drink lots of marg-a-ritas! Ole!

That is all from the garden this week. Love Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur.

Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Happy Stinky Mayo Day

Yeah it is a drinking holly-day mum says and she will have one of those marg-a-rita things with dinner. She made a small container of them the other day. All she will have to do is pour over ice!
Mixed messages with dinner. Leftovers of the chinese she made the other day. Hmmm.
Yep, mum just lets the Hollow-weenie sign up all the time. She doesn't really  have a place to store it good. She now says the bottom should just read monster, singular, as she bought it when Derby was still around. Hmph. You think I am a monster. Just wait lady, that might come true!

Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Mini-ManCat Monday

We have a cat that doesn't even bother to run after mice. She just lies around waiting for the gold-fish bowl to break. - from "Laugh-a-Minute"

No gold fishies here, unless you count the ones mum eats! MOL!

We had a nice weekend, it was warm enuf for the windows to be open both on Caturday and Sunday too. Well at least until dinner time, then the temps dropped. Mum had gotten the windows closed before the cold got in the house.

I napped and enjoyed the fresh airs, mum did some work outside. Cutting down some more brush stuff from the yard and treating the cut part so it won't grow more. Mum needs the brush ready to go out by next Sunday for pickup.
When mum was done outside she came inside to watch the moving picture box. I waited until she got all settled in and then I invaded her lap.
So we watched some shows, one with babies and the other with war.
That is all. Stay at home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Happy well, non-Derby, Derby day. Yeah, another one of those things that got messed up with this virus thingy. Mum says they will try to run in later in the year. Plus my late bro Derby was adopted on Derby Day, that is why he got called Derby, but his actual Gotcha Day is May 7.

We are supposed to have really good and warm weather for the next few days. Mum has been doing a few things outside and also with windows are open. Mum is just waiting for the grass eater to come back from its tune-up so she can even off the grass. It is looking a bit shaggy, just like her own hair.

Warmer weather has made the flies, aka sky raisins, come out. There was one in the kitch-hen yesterday while mum was eating lunch. I did my best to catch it and I did. Right in my mouth! It tickled so I opened my mouth and it was still alive. It took me another crack at it to deaded it. If you watch the video real close you can see me catch it in my mouth.

I plan to start my day today in the front window, getting some sun as it streams in the window. Hopefully mum will be able to open the window early.

Yes mum I see you taking my pic. Just got do your own thing and leave me to bask in the sun.
So Happy May. Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

UPDATE 9:15 - Orinch birdies, orioles just spotted at our jelly feeder. WooHoo.

Garden Thursday

Welcome to a wet, windy and cold Garden Thursday. Mum and Ducky are hunkered down inside and we are doing our best outside. We thinks we came out too early again! Our picture from Sunday when it was nice out!

Mum hasn't even taken any new pics of outside in the past week. Here is the new Oriole feeder out but we haven't seen any orioles yet, or hummers either.

Stay warm, stay dry, stay home, stay safe, stay healthy. Love you all.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I suspect that many an ailurophobe hates cats only because he feels they are better people than he is -- more honest, more secure, more loved, more whatever he is not. - Winifred Carriere

Hmmm, maybe that is why Uncle Stormy doesn't like me, cuz I am smart!

We had a nice Sunday. It was sunny, mum had multiple windows open a little bit. Even the big windows that go to the floor. I was napping right by them. Mum did a little bit of work outside, cut down a small tree!

Plus the scammers are out. Mum got two separate emails asking her to take a survey on the postale, or postal service. HA! They obviously didn't use the official logo. Mum just deleted the.
Plus mum can go and pick up books from the library today. She still has about 15-20 Agatha Christie books to read afore she is totally done. She has been reading them bit by bit for years, but since she couldn't get library books, that has been her main reading. Mum will be happy for a change.

Miss Megan, yeah, mum can read books that fast too. They only let you have 5 books for how long? Sounds like mum's home delivery lady. She get four books for four weeks, she is usually done in 2-3 weeks. Now with this virus thingy the library stopped the deliveries for now. Mum hopes she gets to see her lady again soon. She likes her.

Everyone have a good week. Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. I know, most of you don't know what day it is anymore. Even mum has to stop and think a bit but usually is OK. It helps that she has a calendar up on the wall in the kitch-hen. Plus she has her engagement calendar, not that she has any engagements these days. Everything is crossed off cuz it has been cancelled.
Me, I am spending my time doing my usual stuff. Mum has been reading, doing crow-shay hats, some cleaning. She is happy that come Monday the library will be allowing curb side pickup of books. She has a list she put in to get, plus a couple of moovies. She has been reading mysteries written by Agatha Christie.

Hopefully it will get a bit warmer too, mum would like to get a bit more work done outside.

Happy Weekend. Stay home, Stay Safe, Stay Healthy. We are all fine.

Thankful Garden Thursday

Hi All. Yes we girls decided to make an appearance for this year. With all that is going on we were debating just to stay isolated so we don't get this ick that is going around. Mum assures us that we can't get this stuff.

So what is going on in the garden? They hiya-cynthis are up and blooming. These are the purple ones
The pee-o-nees are starting to push up as well. These are the ones in the front of the house.
Another sign of spring, the four-cyth-ia is also blooming. Last year it barely bloomed, this year is better but not fully blooming all over.
The back patio after mum got the table out but she hasn't gotten the umbrella out yet. Heck it is too cold to sit out for long unless the sun is shining brightly. Mum still has the bird bath plugged in as it as gotten below freezing. Don't want the water to freeze up.
Lastly in the back the bleeding heart is going good for this spring too.
Hoping that it gets warmer, heck we are almost into May in just over a week.

Thankful we are all well here. You all stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Mini-ManCat Monday

A kitten is more amusing than half the people one is obliged to live with. - Lady Sydney Morgan

I can amuse too if I need to, mum often laffs at me. I  had a nice Sunday napping in the sun. Mum did a few outside things and then tried to read her book. Although she kept nodding off, so she took a nap instead.
One of the outside things she did was to get out the hummer feeder and the oriole feeder.  We expect to see these little fevvers in the next few weeks. We want to make sure we have foods out for them when they get here.
Guess who else showed up, the girls have decided to come out of hiding.
Fleur headed out to sit by the crabby apple tree, Virginger, Glimmer and Trooper just decided to sit on top of the storage box.
Have a good week everyone. Stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday! Hope you all are doing well. Me and mum are. It is supposed to be nice outside today, so I expect open windows for a while. Mum hopes to get a bit of work done outside.

Mum got bizzy yesterday and made a couple of real masks for herself to use when she goes shopping. She got two done in different styles. She wants to make two more. That way she can wear it and toss it in the wash like you should do after wearing it. Then have spares in case she has to go out somewhere. She isn't likely to go anywhere more than once a week.
Who is that masked woman? Just mum!

I am just doing my usual stuff. Napping, sitting on mum when she decides to chill out for a while. I stay out of her way if she is using the machine to stitch stuff together.
Me getting ready to invade mum's lap. I know when once I get into mum's lap she chills and relaxes which is good for her.
Stay safe, stay home, stay apart. Be healthy. Happy weekend.

Thankful Thursday

Yep, still here, still healthy. Just me and mum, hanging out doing the usual stuff. Thankful that we are OK and as far as we know our furiends ares all doing OK.

Mum heard from a furiend who has a son in the Navy and on that ship that got infected. Thankfully the guy is currently on shore duty in Sandy Eggo. Phew.

Miss Megan, those chips, aka fries, mum didn't make them. This was one of the meals she got from a local restaurant. Gotta keep them in bizness!
Nap time, alert time. It has been cold out so mum hasn't been outside much. She would like to get out and finish up the spring stuff outside. The weather guessers are saying it might be nice again by the weekend.
Mum has been doing some cooking. She went out for the groceries yesterday and got a bunch of stuffs, then starting cooking. She did sphaghetti sauce and then she did this dish too. Both will give her a bunch of meals to eat. Plus she will probably make some soup soon.

Stay home, stay healthy. We loves you.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I got rid of my husband. The cat was allergic.

MOL, maybe that is why mum won't have a man around, I might be allergic. Although I did OK with Grampie.

Hope all had a nice Easter weekend. Me and mum didn't do too much. Just the usual but mum watched some church stuff online. First from the church where Grampie used to be, then from the big cathedral here.

Mum cooked a bit. She made some bananer bread, that was brekkie, salad for lunch and chicky and fries for dinner.

Me I spent a lot of time  her in my cup, napping. Plus I did spend lots of on mum's lap too. Helping her with crow-shay hats. Or sitting on her while she readed a book, but MOL, she kept falling asleep while reading. Must not have been a interesting book. Although I agree that napping was a grate thing to do this weekend.

 Stay home, stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Y..A..W..N. Yep, still up and waiting for mum to head to her sleepy spot. She has been puttering around on the puter reading stuff and looking at data from the stupid virus. Just go to bed mum. It will be there later in the day! Sheesh. I have been camped out on the back of the chair for over an hour now.
A sign of spring, mum got a pic of this caterpiller moving across the patio last evening and she also saw an earthworm, first of the year. Good signs. Although the other day we also got some of that white stuff from the sky and we may get more on Sunday into Monday.

So just hanging out. Mum does got outside for little bits but tries to stay away from peoples so we can stay healthy.
Stay Happy, Stay Health. Happy Easter to all. Hope the bunny brings you lots of chocolate. Not here, mum hasn't been to the store to buy candy!

Thankful Thursday

Hi All Ducky here. Hope things are fine with you. Me and mum are just fine. Although on the times when mum does cough she goes OH NOES. But then she won't cough the rest of the day. I thinks she just hasn't gotten her pipes clear early in the morning.

Monday mum had to have a stranger in the house. Sunday the drain hick-uped in the dungeon. The guy had to come clear out a clog in the main drain. It didn't take him long and we are glad to have our house back to just us.

So we had a couple of nice warmer days, so mum wandered out and took a few pics of the flowers that are coming up and blooming. So we have a new daffy-dil open.
So we have sunshine and I take advantage of this. I had a nice baff in the window. A few stretches and making sure I have a clean machine.
Then me and mum in the evening watching the moving picture box. Mum was all into watching science shows last night. All about rabbits and fat.

Please remember, Stay Home, Stay Healthy.

Mini-ManCat Monday

I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it. - Abraham Lincoln

Hopefully Happy Monday! I am certainly hoping that all of you are healthy, your beans too. Me and mum are doing just fine.

Now that they are talking about beans needing to wear masks mum wanted to see what she could figure out to use that she already had. Heard someone say tea towel and she has those. So she folded the towel and used a clip to hold it closed. Now she better not be planning on holding up at bank.
So mum is reading, doing crow-shay,  watching stuff she recorded on the moving picture box. Yesterday she even took herself for a drive. It was a nice sunny day so the windows were open a bit on the metal monster too. When she got home she swept the room the metal monster lives in, then moved the snow eater and lawn eater around.

That is better, pay attention to me and give me some scritches.
 Stay home and stay healthy.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Hope this finds you all doing well and feeling well. Me and mum are doing fine.

She got her food run done early on Thursday, then home to me. After lunch she went out and worked in the backyard. Pickup up dead plant stuff, cutting down/off the old shoot on the trumpet vine. Looking pretty good. Mum says she can see she missed a few spots, but they can wait for another day. She worked for a couple of hours and at the end her ankle was achy. Mum you gotta take it easy! She says she will, shorter work sessions for her.

Me liking my new beddie, hard to believe I let it alone for for a few months before I used it. As you can see I am liking it. I have a smile on my face and my in a nice deep sleep.

Mum made some tuna fish sammich filling yesterday. I got a little bit of a taste, but not enuf. You need to make this more often mum. I know it made a lot of stuff so we can have more on another day. Mum said she may do some other cooking today. She isn't quite sure what just yet. She was looking at her recipe slips, maybe skillet cornbread or a yorkshire pudding.

My picture they other day Miss Megan wanted to know if  I was laffing or roaring. I was shouting, I apologize for shouting but I want all of my buds and their humans to stay healthy. But I am going to do it again. So.....

STAY HOME

STAY AWAY FROM NON-FAMILY MEMBERS

STAY HEALTHY

Thankful Thursday

Hi All. Me and mum are doing fine. She hasn't been out of the house, other than to do yard work or go for a walk in over a week. She isn't getting close to any other humans. Just getting close to me. She is planning on going to get foods today, but the store is small, she and be in and out quick. She has her list and she will get the stuff she needs and get home.

So we are doing our best to practice social distancing. I can't say this enuf. Stay home and stay away from other non-family peoples.
Mum's first racy thing got cancelled, she is happy for that, even though she wasn't going to go. This way all of her furiends will be safe.

You all stay safe too. Our inner-webs are being really slow and wonky, so we aren't visiting much.
