Throw Back Thursday

Ducky here. Our look back is to a few days afor the Stouper Bowl that year. Derby headed off to a party at Gracie's.

It has been nice, bits of sun, not too cold. Mum goes off to her physical therapy appointments and also to get her walking in. She likes being able to walk inside and not just outside when it is winter. I guess she is glad she can do that.

Yipee, Friday Friday, February 5, 2010

Yep we have made it to the weekend. Stouper Bowl weekend. I will be dropping by Gracie's party for a bit, but mum says she will be just watching the game. No multi-tasking and being on the puter at the same time. She wants to really watch the game cuz she thinks it will be a good game.
The mum day yesterday was nice. Firsted, mum actually slept in! She didn't get out of the sleepy spot until after 8 AM. Then she sat around in her jammies reading the paper and doing a few things on the puter, had breakfast and THEN actually got dressed.

Then she was gone for a little bit, said she went looking for a thingy that will make our water softer. What? Our water is soft, unless you freeze it, then it is hard. Mum says that isn't what hard water is, hard water has more minerals in it. Sure OK, whatever mum.

Also she went and found a new machine to wash our dishes, but it has to get here and then be installed.

Alert for next weekend February 12 -15

To all of you who have birdies outside your windows, and who doesn't. Next weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count.
All they ask for is at least 15 minutes of watching and counting the fevvers of wherever you are. Home, work, school. They use this to see where birdies are and how their habitats and habits are changing. The more data the better the study.

Mum and I did this for the first time in 2007, and then we also got hooked up with Project Feeder Watch, which we now do every weekend, all winter long. But for Feeder Watch we just report on what is in our yard, not what mum sees all over the place. William got me started on this back in 2007, thanks William, mum and I enjoy this.

I hope that more kitties and their beans will join in.

Mum also worked on the blankie, me I attacked the yarn!
Happy Weekend.

ManCat Monday

Cats are notoriously sore losers. Coming in second best, especially to someone as poorly coordinated as a human being, grates their sensibility. - Stephen Baker

I am not a loser! I can out run mum, out jump mum. The only thing she is good for is her fingers. Opening food cans and giving scritches.

So happy yesterday, we had lots and lots of sun. First time in over a week. Mum went outside for a bit to get fresh air, then when she came home she opened one of the kitch-hen windows for a few hours so we could get some of the good air inside. Still snow on the ground but it was over 50 degrees.
Sunrise on top and in the sleepy spot room the sun is hitting the window frame and the inside wall. Mr Sun is coming back north!

The outside from the fevver watching chair. So nice to see sunshine on the snow. Makes this so bright!

The Stouper Bowl - KC won and we are happy about that. It was a pretty close game until the last bit where KC took over the game. The half time was lots of booty shaking. Commercials were, meh. We didn't even remember seeing an ad with the Clydesdale's. Did we miss it?
So here we are sitting during the game. So she worked on the crow-shay, eated some chick-hen wings and drank spotted cow. What? You read that right Spotted Cow.

Blankie update, the total should be 23. Mum forgot the one she gave to Miss Lynn! They had lunch on Caturday and Miss Lynn reminded her of her blankie which mum had not counted. So put another one on the list.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday and Happy February. We made through January which always seems to last furrevvver! Cloudy, snowy, and chilly! We are hoping for some sun, too gloomy around here.

Laila and Angel Minchie asked how many blankies mum has made since our throw back episode on Thursday. So I had mum sit down to try to figure it out.

Now at that time she was working on a blankie for her first every grand niece and that was 10 years ago. So here we go.

3 - for the grand nieces and nephew for when they were borned. All different and unique. Mum even found a pic with me on the nearly finished blankie.

3 - for baby shower prezzies for people at work
2 - for Cat Blogoshpere peoples
1- of her own that she uses on the reading and fevver watching chair
3 - for the food pantry dropped off last year
1 - for her money man, he turns 50 this month and mum will give him it later this month
7 - dropped off for the food pantry a few weeks ago
1 - finished last week
1 - that she is working on now

I don't have enuf paws for this, so mum says that is 22, so two a year or so. Although while she was waiting for her ankle to heal she did 6 of them. So me thinks she might have missed a few in the early years.

Plus all of those hats she did too. The 215 purple baby hats and then another  60 or so adult hats.
It makes me tired just thinking of all of this. Plus she has more yarns to make more. She says it keeps her out of trouble. Sorry mum, you do get in trouble! If you didn't you wouldn't have broked your ankle!
Plus the Stouper Bowl game is tomorrow. Mum thinks she would like KC to win.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Throw Back Thursday

Quiet week so far. Mum is bizzy with walking and therapy. Trying to get the ankle working properly. Plus a bit of fevver watching now and then. Mum reading books and then working on the blankie. Sorta boring around here!

A look back shows some pretty winter weather.

Happy Weekend

Friday, January 29, 2010

Yipee, mum is home and we is snuggling on the couch and keeping warm. Hope all of my furiends are warm and safe too. I know there is a nasty storm with ice and snow going south of us.

While winter can be a pain, it can also be lovely. A few weekends ago we had freezing fog which then gets on the trees and stuff. Mum calls it hoar frost. You can biggify the pictures for your enjoyment. (Edit, mum figured out how to make the pics bigger!)
Then a few days later it got all melty and we had a puddle from the drips off the patio roof, so some fevvers came to play in it for a bit.
Mum says it will be a weekend of the usual chores and stuff for her, plus working on her knitting, she is making lots of progress on the blankie.
Happy Weekend to all. Stay warm and dry.

ManCat Monday

Cats are like potato chips, you can't just have one... - Kathy Hassell-Strom

Yes you can have just one, if that one is ME! I like being an only cat. I get all the treats, toys and mum's attention. Sure when I first got here I had to share with Derby and he had to share with me. Mum says I am more loving to her now since I don't have a bro to snuggle up to. I think she likes that.
This is mum's favorite pic of the two of us. All peaceful and such. Derby on the left, me on the right. Just us ginger boys looking fabulous.
Me on Caturday AM watching the fevvers feeding once mum got all the snow off the feeders. We had lots and lots of them, hopping around and keeping me entertained. Mum too. It was letting her get a chance to figure out her new fevver counting app. Now she doesn't have to keep track on paper, then enter them into the puter. It can get directly submitted. She likes that.

So she was bizzy with that and then glanced up to see no fevvers at all! Not one. Then she looked higher and did see one. One that scared all the rest away. Mr Hawk!
It was a snowy, misty day, so spreading his tail fevvers to dry out. He didn't stay long and flew off.
It was quiet on the moving picture box. Mum did watch a little bit of a racy car thing. Something where they race for a full 24 hours! They is crazy! Mum only tuned in at the end to see the last half hour or so and to see who one. Otherwise, no other sports!

Have a good week everyone, last few days of January! One month almost done already.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Well, it is still snowing! Started on Thursday and Mr Nick cleared the snow. Friday it sorta spitted snow but not enuf for clearing. Now it is deep enuf for Mr Nick to come again, but it is still snowing. So we may not see him for a bit.

It is pretty out, but really! Mum says she doesn't have anywhere to go today, so no problem. She has been out and about this past week. Feeling better on moving on the healed ankle.
So here is what things look like this morning. Once mum gets dressed she will have to go out to knock the snow off the fevver feeders.
It is sorta pretty sticking to the branches and all.
Mum finished the above blankie, she didn't even work on it that hard. But she was watching some tennis from down under and our bucketball team went to play in Paris. Ooo, la, la! So she has been watching more sports again, so that is when she works on stuff. Then she started a new one!
Yeah mum, you are keeping bizzy. Some days I just have to occupy your lap so you just pay attention to ME! Yep, just me. I need my loves from you!
Yep, checking out her jammies and what is underneath! I am a boy cat, I want to check out the girls!
So everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Throw Back Thursday

Guess what? Another weekend, more snow! Mum was out and about this week. Going to the Y place and taking the six blankies she had done to the food pantry for them to give to people who might need a warm blankie. Plus more laps at Y.

Trout Towne won't like this Throw Back, it has nothing to do with cats, just fevvers. Seems mum took a pic and asked people to find the fevvers. This was the answer. Heck, we have to have at least one cat pic! ME!

Find the Fevvers - The Results

Thursday, January 21, 2010

OK here is the picture with mum's count, and she says there are ten (10) fevvers sitting on the tree. Getting some sun and getting warmed up. They are either sparrows or house finches.

Thanks for playing along!

It has been warmer this past week so a bit of melty stuff going on. But the weather guesser says we will get rain on the weekend, but not as bad as my buds out of the left coast.

Mum says she is happy it is almost the weekend and it was a short week for her too. Mum says the weekend will be filled with the usual stuff, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, knitting and feetsball!

Happy Weekend.

Mum is putting in the original pic of the fevvers. She can't find the original one of the answers.

ManCat Monday

When the cat's away, the mice will play. - Folk Saying

No mice around here! Between me and the pest patrol guy that comes around we don't allow them inside the house.

Here is the back yard after the snow on Friday to Caturday. Mr Nick cleared the drive as usual. Mum cleared off a bit in the back, enuf to get the feeders refilled. Once she got them refilled it was a fevver party in the back yard!
Sitting on mum, making sure she rests. On Sunday she was doing more, laundry and a little bit more outside with the feeders. Lots of sunshine on Sunday too. Then the ankle got a bit achy. You be careful mum, no more breaks!
Hey, this glass is empty, you left me nothing to lick out. Mum was good and drank her full glass of milk for the day. She makes sure she gets her calcium and protein the help her make new bone and make the bones strong.

Sports Report

The Pack - Stick a fork in them, they are done. They losted again to the Niners as they did back in November. The team was 0 for Catifornia this year! So no Stouper Bowl for us. With a rookie head coach they had a record of 14-4 so not bad.

The Stouper Bowl will be KC versus SF. Mum isn't sure which teams she wants to win, but in the long run it won't matter since the Pack won't be in it.

Have a good week everyone!

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Welcome to a snowy Caturday. It started last night about dinner time and it is still snowing now. Mum can't tell how much snow has fallen and Mr Nick hasn't been by to clear the drive. That is OK, mum isn't going anywhere.
Mum should go out long enuf to clear off the snow from the fevver feeders. But since it is still snowing right now I think that will wait.

Mum's brekkie is a limited edition, it has hearts as well as O's in it! That is cute.
So much for the weekend. Guess we won't do much, but we have to watch feetsball tomorrow and is if The Pack gets to go to the Stouper Bowl!

Happy and safe weekend!

Throw Back Thursday

Things are quiet here. Mum is getting out more, mainly to go to a place called Y so she can walk and not slip! She was able to walk a mile the first day, then yesterday she walked for a whole 30 minutes. Pretty good but she plans to not over do it.
Don't worry, I am keeping an eye on mum and sitting on her so she does rest!
Today's throw back has Derby raiding the big cold box!

You see, wire telegraph is a kind of very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his had is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates the exact same way; you send signals here, they receive them there. - Albert Einstein.

OK Al, if you say so, but I have never seen a cat that had its tail in New York and its head in LA! That would be one long, skinny cat!

Feetsball Report - Divisional Playoff Edition.

On Caturday, The Colts and The Saints won. On Sunday Brett and them Vikings won, along with the Jets.

Chanpionships will be next Sunday. The Colts and Jets play, along with the Saints and Vikings.

Mum did lots of work on the blankie project and is now over half way done. She works on it lots while the feetsball game are one.
Me checking out the inside of the big cold box. I did gets some ham this weekend when mum had some in a sammwich this weekend. I also gots lots and lots of treats as mum uses them to keep me out of her yarns!

I also went outside this weekend, not on my own. Mum scooped me up in her arms and took me outside for a bit, said I needed some fresh airs. She did put my front paws down on that wet, cold white stuff. I want some green grass please. Mum says the green grass may be a few months away.

Good news is mum doesn't have to go day hunting on Monday. So extra time for me and extra treats too.

ManCat Monday

To others she may seem just a common little moggy, but to me she is my friend, confidante and comfort. - Author Unknown

The final thing on the weather guessers was 2 inches of snow! Enough though to make everything white! This was all we had by Caturday morning. Mostly rain but it did get a bit icy out. Didn't matter to us, we stayed home!

Sunday AM. Not much snow which made mum happy. Mr Nick came by and cleared off the driveway. By the end of the day it had pretty much melted clear.
Mum went out and carefully tested the footing. Then cleared off the bit of the patio that she wants to. Enuf to get at the bird feeding stuff. With the rain and then cold temps then snow mum had to chip out the seed and add some non-frozen stuff so the fevvers could eat.

Here we are watching and waiting for the fevvers to show up and they did. One of our first takers a red-bellied woodpecker.

Sportz Report

The Pack - They pulled out a win on the frozen tundra of Lambeau field. They beat the Seahawks and will now go on the the championship game next Sunday in San Francisco.

Mum did watch most of the other three games. The early game on Sunday was wild! Lots of scoring by one team, then turn around and the other team. Lots of points, mum thinks they said the most ever in a playoff game.

So we will see next week if they can get to the Stouper Bowl.

Have a good week everyone.
