Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Another beauty-full day. Mum got up and opened all the windows wide open. Soft gentle breezes coming in.

Mum is watching horsies race in the early morning. She found that they had Royal Ascot on our moving picture box here. So we didn't see every day, we get to start our last few mornings watching Queen Lizzie come in on her carriage, then watch the horsies run. They sure do dress funny and fancy to go racing.

About our water issues, mum says we should explain. We get our water from our village, it gets piped in under the street, then it branches off into the houses. Well, what is under the street is at least 50 years old, so it breaks and needs to be fixed.

So when it happens, they first come and turn the water pressure down locally to reduce the stress on the break. Then they do come around and tell you they will be turning the water totally off. Now this week they turned down the so far it was effectively off. So when the guy came around to tell us it was going to be turned off, mum told him it was already off! He said they must have turned it down too much.

So then they bring in all sorts of big equipment, dig a hole in the ground, repair the main. Fill the hole back up with rock, then soon they will come back and fix the road surface. It happens and now that mum is home all the time, we notice it more.

I think I will just take it easy for a while and get some loves from mum whiles she sits.

  1. Sounds like a fun Saturday, Ducky!

It's good you get warning about the water being off. Sometimes we do, sometimes it's a surprise. Here it depends on if the problem is on the property (yes) or some other place (no).

  2. I can only imagine what kind of piping we get for our water! Which is why we only drink filtered or bottled (human and kitty both!). Southern California has notoriously bad water.

  3. I thought maybe you were on well water and your pump was broken. Sounds like your utility people are reasonably efficient at getting the water fixed. But it's good that your Mom had bottled water in the house.

  4. It must be annoying when the water pipe bursts. I am glad you are getting cooler weather to enjoy the breeze. The past week we have had unusually high temperatures, but it is back to normal now.

  10. Wow, it's kind of sad that you have to know so much about the plumbing leading to your house! We hope you don't have another break any time soon.
