  2. It is interesting that this is a holiday both here and in the USA. But you are having Memorial Day and we have what's called Spring Bank Holiday today, it's just a holiday from work. I assume that Memorial Day is like our Remembrance Sunday, right? Remembrance Sunday is when we remember those who died in war. But we have it on 11th November because that was Armistice Day when the First World War ended. I wonder why yours is in May? I expect there is a good reason.

  3. Eric,

The day we honor today started after the Civil War so predates what was started at the end of World War I, Armistice Day. A nice history is on Cat Crossings. Mainly a day to honor those who died in during war or in service to their country

What the UK has as Remembrance Day in November, we call "Vetrans Day". That honors all who have service in the military, living and those who died.

  4. It's raining here too, Calico Girls. We're really bummed.

In any event though, Happy Memorial Day to you and your family, Derby! That picture says it all!

  5. I love your picture! Perfect Americana. Have a happy Memorial Day, Derby and Mum.

  6. Great picture with the flag, Derby. We also like your garden shots. -- Alberta, Sky, Blackie and Charlie

Don't be shy, we loves to hear your meows and mews.
