Caturday - Retirement 101 - Session 10

 HiYa Ducky here, Happy Caturday. So happy to be here with you today. I also want to thank all of you who joined in for TockTober Day for Angel Derby. 

I am hanging out with mum and sitting in my hammick. It got cool again so mum turned on the heaty monster. So it is nice hang out here, the warms flow under the hammick to keep me warm. I like it.

Our retirement session today involves Hobbies.

Now we can't entertain our humans all the time, so hopefully they do find things to do around the house that they can amuse themselves. Mum thankfully has several things she likes to do, some of which I can snoopervise or assist her with.

Reading - mum loves to read, she gets the newsy paper every day, she gets books from the library and she reads stuff on line. So when she sits down to read, I like to join her and sit on her lap.

Crow-shay -  she does this during the cold time of the year. Helps keep her lap warm, and I help out as well by sitting on her lap while she works. She hasn't gotten out the project that she started last year. She put it aside while she worked on the pink blankie for her new grand niece to come. 

 

 Gardening - mum can only do this during the warmer weather times of the year. So right now she is getting stuff ready for winter. Or preparing for next year with new bulbs and plants.

 

 

Cooking  -  mum likes to cook, well, she has to eat, me too. The grilling, the soups, the sweets. What is good is when mum grills and I get little pieces too. YUM!

 

 

 

Mum does other stuff, the things that have to be done around the house. Those gotta be done, like the cleaning.

So this brings me to the end of my retirement series. It has been my pleasure to help you kitties and your beans work through the issues that happen when your beans retire and stay home all the time.

Garden Thursday - TockTober Day

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer and Trooper. 

We are all ready to  cellybrate TockTober you gotta have tock shots, so here we go! First a group shot and then one for each of us!

 

 

 

Ducky is hosting a big party over at the Tabby Cat Club for TockTober in honor of Angel Derby. This was his purrthday. He would have been 13 today. Happy Purrthday at the Bridge dearest Derby.

Tuesday This and That

Sure nice to have mum home. She was really good when she got home, she got the stuff inside from the metal monster, then just sat down so I had a lap. I soaked up love and scritches for a long time!

So where did mum go? Off to Ioway to see an aunty and a cousin. The aunty sold her house and now lives in a nice senior place.

 Nice size living space, a kitch-hen area to the left, bedroom below. Mum says it looks new but is really 17 years old.

 Mum had a nice spot in the guest room at the place down the hall. With her own bath and all that.

 Mum says she mainly went to visit, see the people and did lots of eating. Fried chick-hen, ham, pizza! Now she needs to eat better for a while.

 They did go to this one place that a guy makes stuff from wooden match sticks. The US Capital and Notre Dame cathedral. A bit crowded in the place, so not able to stand back and get the whole thing in the pic.

 So mum loved being in a small town for a few days, the slow pace, the harvest going on, good foods.

Mum made sure she took along lots of pictures from me. Aunty used, to have kitties, but she was getting to the point she had too many kitties. Back ten years ago mum visited with Grampie and at that time she didn't have many kitties. You can read Derby's report here.  But when she moved out of her house her cousin said they took 63 kitties to the shelter! Yikes, way too many.

Happy to have mum home, sunny day so long naps in the sun. Mum is cooking away, smells good!

ManCat Monday

Yeah, Ol' Blue Eyes was one cool cat. Even if he was a human. Mum listens to his songs now and then. 

 I am taking it easy. Mum had her little travel bag out, will fill you in on where she went later.

First I gotta get going on the stuff for Tock Tober happening over at the Tabby Cat Club on Thursday for Angel Derby's purrthday. Hope you have your tock pictures ready.

Caturday - Retirement 101 - Session 9

HiYa Ducky here, Happy weekend. Hope everyone had a good week and we are working with

Our topic today is Homemade treats and toys.


Mum does not do homemade toys. She says I already have enuf store bought toys and she doesn't have time to make me toys. I know there are some mum's who do make toys, even enuf to sell to other kitties.

Now mum has tried to do homemade treats before. You can link back to that post here, nearly 5 years ago. 

 

 

 

 Mum hasn't tried them again since. Says too much flour and not enuf tuna. Yeah, just give me the tuna, straight up!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer and Trooper.

The weather keeps changing here as the seasons are changing. Warm, then cooler, then warmer again and cool. Even a tiny bit of frosting on the roofs!

The trees are becoming more colorful and we are looking for fevvers that show up now for the winter. We are seeing more fevvers at the feeder, but we had one visitor that doesn't eat the seeds, he eats the other birdies, chippies, buns, and sqwerls.

 Here he was sitting in the crabby apple tree, just down from the hummer feeder. Then he flew over to the fence to sit for a while. We saw people walk or ride by on the trail, they didn't even seem to notice. He then flew off, probably looking for lunch.

ManCat Monday

Yeah, I do my own thing. Mum asks me to do stuff. Sometimes I do, like come under the covers with her, but sometimes I don't. I do what I want to. Sometimes I do stuff that mum would rather I not do, like sit on her boobities so she can't see anything!

The weather cooled off here on Caturday. It got cold enuf in the house for me that mum turned on the heaty monster in the dungeon for a bit. 

 So once mum has the heaty thing on I went to sit on my hammick cuz the warm airs blows underneath.

Friday, mum got up super early, it was still dark out! She got dressed and then her furiends picked her up and they took off. Mum went to work a charity car event at the track for the March of Dimes.

 Mum said this was the first ever Tesla she has seen, asked the guy how much it cost and it was half of what our house is worth! Expensive toys.

 Another fancy car with a cool license plate, you include the G so GoLambo! For those of you don't know this was a Lamborghini. Mum says she has fun, she flirts with all of the drivers.

 Had a good day, windy and a bit of rain in the AM which didn't last long. Finally the clouds went away at the end of the day.

 Some of the goodies in her goody bag, but she found one thing I put in the bag after she came home!

 My fav mousie!. So we then had a nice play time.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - played on Sunday night, so mum didn't watch the hot air debate. They beat the Giant guys from NYC.


The Broncos - Losted to the Falcon guys at home. It wasn't on our moving picture box, mum was hoping that it would be.

Caturday - Retirement 101 - Session 8

Happy Caturday everyone! Hope all of our furiends are doing OK with the HurryCane that has been bothering those down in FLf and the SE coast.

Today's retirement topic is  House chores- cleaning

I don't do that stuff, I just make is so mum has to do it. Plus mum does not like cleaning.  Yeah, when we got the new big cold box she cleaned, she almost had too. I didn't have any toys under the old one, but boy was the floor all icky!

Plus I don't think any of us kitties care for the sucking monster when it comes out from hiding. I have never been attacked by it, but it sure does make a lot of noise. I think it is that whirring and whining noise that is the worst.

Now, hopefully your beans won't get carried away and clean every day. Our schedule has been about the same, clean enuf to keep the health inspector away, but not so clean that all of our time is spent on cleaning. Mum is happy with that too, sort of like it has been.

Ah, sun puddles and quiet. Mum isn't cleaning today. Happy weekend!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer and Trooper.

First off, we are having just marvy weather. A few showers, but mostly sun and the temperatures are nice, up in the 70's, (21C). Not bad for early TockTober.

Mum decided to do something to give us a bit of fall flower color. So she got some flowers for the front baskets.

 

 

 The look purrty good and hopefully they will stay looking good for a while. That cuz they is fake flowers! Mum took lead from the naybor who does fake flowers spring, summer and fall!

Mum did get some real color too. She did buy a mum, one that has three different flower colors in it.

 

 

 Mum thinks the ones that are not open yet will be a pinky purple color. So something real with flowers to look at. Below is what it looks like from inside in the reading and fevver watching chair.

 Mum did find one tiny spot of real flowers from summer, just a tiny cluster on the butterfly bush.

ManCat Monday

Yeah, probably what the beans would call poker faced. We cats don't betray anything, and we will never tell where you buried the body!

 Me napping last night, partially trying to dream up this post! After the big cold box arrived, not much happened. Well at least for me. Mum did lots of cleaning, got the kitch-hen floor all spiffy and clean. Then the sucking monster was out doing lots of work. Mum had to move a few things so they could get things in the house. So while they were moved she cleaned some more.

Then stuff got put away for the season. All of her traveling cold boxes went down to the dungeon for storage as well. Plus she took down four big containers of litter. I think I am set for a while.

Me and mum both must have been tired from all of the cleaning. I had snuggled under the covers with her as she went to sleep. Eight hours later she woke up and I was still there! I usually wander off in the middle of the night. Not last night.

Some asked if they left me a big box to play in, no they didn't mum said they cut it up to get it out. They did manage to make a mess. They had one box for the plastic stuff used to protect things, they took it off the truck and the bottom came off. So the one guy had to pick up all of the stuff to clean up.

 So the only box that was OK was the one that they started to use for all of their waste stuff. Mum did not want that hanging about.

Otherwise we had a blah weekend, mostly rainy and clouds. We did get a little bit of sun yesterday, but it didn't last long.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - They were given the week off. A little early in the season, but that is how it is.

The Broncos - they won, the game was not on the moving picture box here. Mum didn't watch much feetsball at all this weekend.

Caturday - Retirement 101 - Session 7

 It is Caturday and it is now TockTober! Yep, another fun month of tock pictures.

So if you want to join in, show us your tocks. Also know as backside, hiney, tush, butt, and lots of other names I can't think of right now!

I will be hosting a day at the Tabby Cat Club later this month, on the 20th. That was Derby's purrthday.

I had an interesting day yesterday. Mum moved all of her stuff out of the big cold box, then she put me in her sleepy room along with a plate of gooshy foods. I heard noises and voices and then when mum let me out we have a new big cold box!

 Keeping an eye on the delivery information updates. It came late in the day.

Mum didn't put the food in until later. She let it cool down for a while before she put the stuff back in.

Alright, on to today's topic:   Excercise - Keeping Fit

Now we kitties are good at keeping fit. We do our stretches, play THoE to get our cardio in as well. Our beans aren't so good at it. When they are working, many of the sit in front of a puter all day long,  only getting up to take a potty break!

So often that carries over into retirement. That is not good. I have to give mum lots of credit, she has been going out for walks most every day. Now days when it has been super hot or raining hard she might not go out, but other than to take a day off here and there, she has been purrty good.

Now the super experts say to get 10,000 steps a day. Other places say to get 30 minutes of activity at least 5 days a week. Mum isn't quite up to the steps, but she is doing the 30 minutes average. But at least she is out and moving.

So, get your beans out the door and get them moving!

Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday with Virginger, Glimmer and Trooper.

Fall is here and we are seeing signs of it in our garden and nearby. Below is a tree mum sees on one of her walking routes. Just beginning to turn to orich. That is a good color to be.

 Mum bought a new door mat for the back door. A foxy fox! It looks good and it will keep her from dragging dirt into the house.

 The only flower we still have that is blooming in our yard. We have three sedum plants and they are getting to the dark pink stage.

 Here is one of the cone flowers in the front, flower heads pretty much gone.

 Sweet potato vine is finally growing very nicely, but the impatients are toast!

 We got so much rain the past few weeks it knocked all the flower petals off, leafs too. Poor things are straggley looking.

 Here is the big planter, here too the impatients are gone, but the other thing that mum put it is doing OK. Mum can't amember the name of it anymore!

ManCat Monday

Well I still explore, I try to do that every morning down in the dungeon. That is why mum held me in the hot rain room afore she left on her trip. That way she didn't have to find me later. She wanted and needed to get on the road as soon as she could. 

 Don't worry, I haven't been holding a grudge. Matter of fact mum thinks I am more lovey than ever! I loves siting on her to get my scritches, sleeping on her and just generally hanging out with her. With the exception of my morning diversion down in the dungeon.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - They looked fantastic in the first half. Looking like The Pack we want to see. Score early and often. QB ARodg had 4 TD's and no INT's. Second half they only managed a field goal and hung on to win.

The Broncos - mum has decided to stick with them as her AFC team. They beat the them Bengal kits.
