Mum came across a thing that said how much room a kittie needs and we quote,
"Cats of all ages need stimulation, but what can be done to keep them lively in a rescue shetler? Studies have determined that appropriate housing should include a minimum of 18 square feet of floor space per cat, perches and toys to prevent boredom."
Now what caught our eye was the minimum of 18 square feet of floor space. Well, yes we have more than that. So we tried to calculate how many more kitties mum could bring in. It took us a while, even with 8 paws, divided by a tail, carry the ears. We came up with elbeventyseventytwo! Mum time to hit the shelter! No, two is enough for you?
We know not everyone can be like the Katnip Lounge, with that wonderful Catio they get to spend so much time on. They have a baker's dozen, so shmaybe you could open your heart to another kittie? Space and green papers permitting of course.
Hmmm ... we may need more kitties then.

We wish more people could welcome extra kitties into their homes.
We kitties voted and we think we are enough! My human agrees because it is hard enough to give all of us the attention we need (although sometimes I think I get TOO much!), plus the vet bills could get pretty bad if multiple cats got sick at once.

And just hours ago my mom was asking if we wanted a little brother! I have no idea why she gets adoption fever in the fall but she does. I don't think we'll be adding to the family after all, though. At least, not this year.

ReplyDeleteooo that is good to know. With my semi feral history and FIV the VET and the animal communicator lady said I'd do best as an only cat. Mommy and daddy said that a squillion years from now when I've crossed to the Rainbow Bridge, they will adopt more than one kitty from a shelter. they have room even factoring in sticky little beans
ReplyDeleteOur Daddy initially said he NEVER wanted cats. Then Mom found us in the drain and Ling stole his heart so we stayed. So he said 2 is enough. Then Meow-Me appeared...pregnant. Soon, Coco and Felix were born and that made it 5. Daddy was adamant that 5 was the limit. And then Boomer appeared.....

ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good football game day. The mom is putting things outside away for winter weather that will soon be here and has the, I hate to even say it, Colts game on. She checks on the tv score when she comes inside to warm up a bit.

We are pretty sure we need more space than THAT! Our litterboxes take up that much space... And then there is foodbowl space, nappin space, toybox space, cattree space.
